Chapter 1 Trapped

The neon lights of the dive bar flickered, casting an artificial glow over Alexandra Ray's weary face. At twenty-seven, she'd seen enough of life's disappointments to know better than to expect miracles, but tonight, something felt... off. The usual hum of drunken chatter and clinking glasses was punctuated by an eerie silence that settled over the bar like a shroud. Alexandra wiped down the counter absently, her fingers tracing the grooves in the wood as she stared into the mirror behind the bottles.

Her reflection stared back-brown eyes rimmed with fatigue, dark hair pulled into a messy bun, and a tight black tank top that clung to her curves. She was used to being invisible, just another bartender in a city that never slept. But tonight, she felt like the world was watching her, waiting for something to happen.

A sudden jolt of electricity shot through the air, and the lights flickered violently. Alexandra's heart skipped a beat as the mirror behind the bar seemed to shimmer, like water disturbed by a stone. Before she could react, a blinding flash engulfed her, and she felt herself being torn apart, atom by atom, only to be reassembled in a way that made no sense.

When the light faded, Alexandra gasped, her hands flying to her chest. But they weren't her hands. They were larger, calloused, and adorned with intricate rings. Her breath caught as she looked down at her body-a body that was not hers. She was taller, broader, and clad in lavish silken robes embroidered with golden thread. Panic surged through her as she stumbled backward, her bare feet sinking into a plush carpet that felt nothing like the sticky floor of her bar.

"What the fuck is happening?" she whispered, her voice deep and unfamiliar. It wasn't hers. It belonged to someone else.

The room around her was opulent, with towering ceilings, tapestries depicting scenes of battles and feasts, and a massive four-poster bed draped in crimson velvet. A fire crackled in the hearth, casting dancing shadows on the walls. Alexandra's heart pounded as she realized she wasn't in her bar anymore. She was in a castle.

"Your Highness?" A timid voice came from the doorway, and Alexandra spun around to see a young maid standing there, her eyes wide with shock. "Are you unwell? You've been in your chambers for hours."

Alexandra's mind reeled. Your Highness? She opened her mouth to speak, but the words that came out were not her own. "I... I need a mirror," she demanded, her voice commanding despite the confusion swirling inside her.

The maid curtsied and scurried out, returning moments later with a full-length mirror. Alexandra approached it slowly, her heart pounding in her chest. The reflection staring back at her was not hers. It was a man-a young prince, with sharp cheekbones, piercing green eyes, and hair the color of midnight.

His lips were full, his jawline strong, and his body was lean yet muscular, the kind of physique that screamed privilege and power. But it wasn't just his appearance that shocked her. It was the energy he exuded-a raw, untamed lust that seemed to radiate from every pore.

"No," she whispered, pressing her hands to the mirror as if to push through to her own reflection. "This can't be real."

But it was. She was trapped in the body of Prince Stephen, heir to the throne of Eldoria, a kingdom she'd never even heard of. And as she stood there, trying to process the impossible, she felt something else-a darkness lurking beneath the surface, a primal hunger that made her skin crawl.
