Selene thought she was just an ordinary girl, hiding in the shadows of a powerful werewolf pack. But everything changes when her pack is betrayed, and her family is slaughtered before her eyes. Left alone and broken, she finds herself imprisoned by the very wolves she once called family. Sold into captivity and labeled as weak, Selene is thrust into a world where her life means nothing - until she uncovers a hidden truth about her bloodline. A secret that could change everything. With every step, Selene discovers her true strength and the power she never knew she had. As she navigates betrayal, heartache, and the ruthless world of werewolves, she must rise above her past and fight for the future she was always meant to have. Will she be able to harness the power within her and embrace her true destiny, or will she be consumed by the darkness around her? In a world where survival is everything, Selene must learn that sometimes the greatest power lies in embracing the wolf within.
Selene lay curled up on the cold, hard floor of the pack's prison. The unforgiving stone pressed against her back, the chill sinking into her bones, but it was the weight of her thoughts that kept her paralyzed. She had not eaten in days. The wounds from the brutal attack on her pack had long since faded, but the emotional scars were still raw, pulsing with the memory of the horrors she had witnessed. It had been three days since she had watched her parents' lifeless bodies fall to the ground - three days since their blood had stained the earth she once called home.
Her mother's scream still echoed in her mind, the desperate cry of a mother who had failed to protect her own child. The images were seared into her brain - the flashes of wolves tearing through their home, the sound of bones snapping, the stench of blood mixing with the fire that consumed their pack's territory.
The cries of the other wolves had long since faded, replaced by the silence of loss. They were all gone now. The pack was broken, and so was she.
Selene shivered, not from the cold, but from the weight of the memories. She had been powerless to protect her family. Her mother had shielded her from the violence, her father had fought until his last breath, but none of it had been enough. They had both died protecting her, and now she was left with nothing but the bitter taste of failure and the cold, empty echo of their loss.
The silence of the dungeon around her was suffocating, but then, as always, the sound of footsteps echoed down the stone hallway, each footfall growing louder and more oppressive. Selene stiffened instinctively, her heart hammering in her chest. She knew who it was. It could only be one person - Beta Sebastian. He had been the one to lock her away, the one who had kept her alive for reasons she couldn't comprehend.
"Up, Selene," came the cold, indifferent voice of Sebastian, laced with malice.
Selene winced at the sound, but she obeyed. She had no choice. The chains around her wrists clinked together as she slowly forced herself to stand. Her legs wobbled beneath her, weak from the prolonged confinement and lack of food. She could feel the bruises from the attack still burning on her skin, a constant reminder of her helplessness. Her body felt like a stranger's - disconnected, alien, as if she no longer owned it. The reality of her situation was inescapable: she was weak. Always had been. And it was that weakness that had cost her everything.
She brushed her disheveled black hair out of her face, but the movement was mechanical, devoid of emotion. The tears that had once flowed so freely now felt like a distant memory. There were no more tears for her. No more time for grief. All that was left was survival - and even that felt like a futile endeavor.
"I said, up," Sebastian repeated, his voice sharp and demanding.
Selene struggled to focus as she rose to her feet, the cold metal of the chains scraping against her raw skin. She could barely hold herself upright, her body a shell of the once-proud wolf she had been. She had never been strong, never been one to fight back, but even now, as the weight of her parents' death and the ruin of her pack pressed on her, she wished she could be someone else - someone who could stand tall, who could demand justice, who could fight. But she couldn't. She wasn't that person.
Sebastian took a step closer, his eyes cold and calculating as he looked her over. His presence felt like a weight upon her chest, suffocating her even more than the chains that bound her. He was tall, with sharp features that seemed carved from stone, his dark hair slicked back. His cold, piercing gaze was the last thing she wanted to see, but she could do nothing to avoid it.
"The Alpha wants to see you," Sebastian announced, his voice devoid of any emotion. "He has decided that it's time for you to be sold."
The words hit Selene like a blow to the chest, stealing her breath away. Her knees buckled, and she collapsed back onto the cold floor. A bitter taste rose in her mouth as the reality of the situation sank in. She was to be sold. A rejected, broken wolf with no value except for what someone else could exploit.
"Sold?" she whispered, her voice barely audible, a quiver of fear creeping into her tone. She had heard the rumors - the whispers of discarded wolves, sold like property to the highest bidder. Women like her, weak and worthless in the eyes of the pack, were nothing more than tools, their bodies used for breeding or worse.
"Yes, a breeder," Sebastian said with a cruel smirk, his eyes gleaming with amusement at her distress. "The Alpha has already made his choice."
A cold shudder ran through Selene's spine. She knew what that meant. She knew what she had become in the eyes of the pack. She was no longer a member of the pack, no longer a daughter of the once-proud bloodline. She was a rejected wolf, a slave, a breeder. The world outside these prison walls had no place for her. She had no pack, no family, no future. She was just a discarded piece of their world, tossed aside as if she were nothing.
Her heart clenched at the thought of what awaited her. She was to be sold, used, and discarded again when she was no longer useful. The life she had known, the life she had fought for, had been ripped from her in an instant. Now, she was a slave to whatever twisted fate awaited her at the hands of the Alpha's decision.
"Where... where are you taking me?" Selene whispered, her voice breaking as the gravity of her fate sank in. She was terrified, but her terror was overshadowed by a deep sense of resignation. She had no choice but to follow. No choice but to accept the fate that had been dealt to her.
"A breeder," Sebastian repeated, his voice dripping with disdain. He took a step closer, towering over her as she knelt on the floor. "The Alpha has made his choice. You'll be nothing more than a tool for some rich, powerful wolf to breed with. You're a slave now, Selene."
The words echoed in her mind as she struggled to maintain any semblance of control. Her vision blurred with tears, but she fought them back. She couldn't afford to cry. She was weak enough as it was. She had to hold it together. She had to survive. Even if survival meant losing herself entirely.
She wanted to scream, to fight back, but she knew it was useless. She was too weak. Too broken. The weight of the chains around her wrists was a constant reminder of how powerless she had become.
Sebastian's laugh echoed through the cold, empty cell as he reached out and grabbed her arm, yanking her to her feet. She could feel the sting of his grip on her skin, but it was nothing compared to the pain inside her chest. The pain of losing everything - her family, her pack, her identity.
"Get up," he ordered, pulling her toward the door. "Or I'll drag you there myself."
She stumbled, barely able to keep her footing as she was led down the narrow stone hallway. The air was damp and cold, biting against her skin. The darkness seemed to close in around her, and all she could do was follow, her mind numb with fear and despair.
The weight of her chains dragged at her every step, each movement reminding her of how far she had fallen. She had once been strong, once had dreams of becoming an Alpha. But now, all she could do was walk in the wake of her own destruction, heading toward an unknown fate.
They reached the door at the end of the hallway, and Sebastian opened it with a forceful shove. The light from outside spilled into the darkness of the prison, blinding her for a moment.
As she stepped into the light, she couldn't help but wonder if this was the end of everything. Would she ever find her strength again? Would she ever rise above the chains that bound her, both physically and emotionally?
The door slammed shut behind her, and the darkness swallowed her whole.
And so, her new life began - as a slave to someone else's desires. A life she never asked for, a life she never wanted. But it was the life she had been given.
Now, Selene would have to find a way to survive it.
