Wolves are predators. They deserve to be hunted and killed like the murderers they are'. Amber goes by this mantra , she is never changing it even when she met the innocent, not able to kill an ant , omega

Chapter 1 Remembering

shhhh shhh. keep quiet Amber . Run to the forest, run along the shadows. Remember the darkness is ours to control, may the night cover you" An eleven yrs old Amber glanced up at the worried eyes of her mum. Her mum had tried putting on a brave face but the eyes doesn't lie . She held on tightly to her mum's elbow whimpering .

A howl broke out in quietness of the night , followed by howls and then screams and shout and wails and .....

" RUN NOW AMBER!"

Amber remembers making her way through the back and running into the forest. The forest may be wolves home but they have been trained in these forests too.

She ran along the trees providing shade against the troubleshooting full moon.

Branches whipping her face did not faze her, she continued. Even when the winds carried the howls of the wolves to the reach of her ears, she continued.

Skidding down , she tore her pants from twigs on the earth. Blood seeped out from her top and it was then she was afraid. It was the full moon , meaning the wolves were more heightened. They could smell blood from Miles away. She slowed down for a bit to cover her scent with mud but that delay almost caused her life .

She wasn't aware of the predator that had followed her . As she bent down to gather the earth, she was knocked over. She heard growling and snarling as she laid there pretending to be unconscious. She calmed her heart beat , listened to every movement, mapping out way of escape as the hunter she was trained to be. The wolf , in the full moon effect crunched down for his final kill when an arrow pierced its neck. Before it could release a call of help howl, it was stabbed at the head by his pretending kill.

Searching for who her helper was, was a great fit for her as she fell unconscious due to fear and near death situation .

She woke up to a dimly lighted room and a creaking rusty bed with a tube injected into her veins. She was still feeling drowsy. Remembering what had happened brought her out of her drowsiness and a chilling cold ran through her body. Amber looked around the unfamiliar room and her eyes came to rest on the door . She removed the tube with a wince and limped to the door.

The place she was brought to was really old that the door sounded like it was dying as she opened it. The hallway looked like hospital....more abandoned. The lights flickered with each step she took and her fears increased with each step she took. The hallway was quiet but that change when she opened another door that led to the main area of the hospital.

Men and women walked around armed with weapons. Children ran freely not caring people were armed. No one spared her any attention . She would have liked it before but not now. If no one will tell her what is going on, she is ready to lose her mind. Her parents whereabouts, her home, her savior, hell even her life she doesn't understand anything.

" hey"

she nearly jumped out of her skin

" Didn't mean to scare you. I noticed you were looking totally lost. "

She turned to the stranger who had snuck up on her

A boy of her age or maybe older by a yr. Rowdy black hair like fingers must have passed through it dozen of times. His eyes a clear blue like that of the sky, her eyes roamed from his eyes to his slightly pointed nose and his thin lips back to his oval shaped face. A raised brow from the unknown guy stopped her from her assessment.

"Sorry" she apologize, clearing her throat.

" Nahh it's alright. I get that a lot . Am really handsome"

As he grinned , Amber had only one word for him in her thought " dollop head" . Yh , she really never cursed so she is gonna stick with that word. Her parents never really allow a curse word out of her mouth. Before she could ride on the train of her thoughts, his rambling cut her short

" I always ramble when am nervous"

Nervous? she thought. He did not show any sign of being nervous especially when he was the one to approach her first.

" My name is Ryder but my friends calls me ryke. I know what you are thinking, is it not suppose to be Ryde but alas, between me and you, I don't know how my friends thinks" He finished with a nervous chuckle.

' he is really weird' she thought as she opened her hand for a handshake

" Am Amber" It was then she could feel his nerves as his hands were literally drenched with sweat.

" sorry.... I know I keep apologizing a lot" She watched him as he profusely tried drying his palms on his pants.

Not wanting to see him more tormented with nerves, even though it was fun to watch, she had an important issue.

" How did I get here?"

" Oh ! You were attacked by wolves. Luckily our Leader was there to save you. He is at a meeting now , well the meeting will almost be done by now" And true to his words, silence engulfed the area as a man who should roughly be at his forties marched out from whatever room he was in. He had this powerful aura that could literally be felt from miles away. His bald hair did nothing to soothe the hard look he had. His black eyes were lifeless, tall maybe 6'5 or maybe more. His tattoos added to his rough looking way. She didn't notice the other people who came out of the room with him

A whisper broke her out of her staring

"Yh that is the man who saved you and also our Leader ... Max."

As she turned back to look at Max, sh found him already staring at her with his lifeless eyes and chill ran down her body

Elodie took a deep breath and knocked, the sound echoing in the quiet corridor. A moment of silence passed, broken only by the pounding of her heart. Finally, the door snicked open, revealing a surprised Dashiell. 'Can't you see the Do Not Disturb sign? We don't want-' His initial frown quickly morphed into confusion at the sight of his wife. 'What are you doing here?' he demanded. 'Your girlfriend invited me,' Elodie replied, her voice laced with icy calm. She tried to peer past him, but his broad frame blocked the view. A saccharine voice chimed in from within the room. 'Elodie? Oh dear, we didn't mean for you to find out this way. It's just that-' Elodie cut her short. 'Oh please, Selene. Spare me the fake apologies. You wouldn't have sent me all those texts if you didn't want me to know.' Dashiell shifted uncomfortably, his face a mask of annoyance. 'What texts?' Elodie stepped past him, taking in the luxurious suite with a sardonic smile. The king-sized bed, the scattered rose petals, the lingering scent of sex – it all painted a vivid picture of their betrayal. She looked up at Dashiell, her gaze unwavering. 'I want a divorce.' ****** Dashiell lived a life of luxury, surrounded by the best things money could buy. But when a car accident left him vulnerable, he met Elodie, a seemingly ordinary woman who nursed him back to health. Mistaking her for just another employee, Dashiell entered into a loveless marriage with her solely for convenience. However, fate had a different script in store. Elodie, the 'ordinary nurse,' held a secret more precious than any diamond: she was the sole heiress to Northstar, a vast and powerful enterprise. Unaware of her true identity, Dashiell cast her aside when his ex-girlfriend returned, leaving Elodie humiliated. But Elodie was not one to be easily broken. She shed the facade of the meek nurse, reclaiming her rightful inheritance and stepping into the role of Northstar's CEO. Now, the woman Dashiell discarded was the one holding the reins of power. As Elodie thrives in her new role, Dashiell is consumed by regret. He finally sees Elodie for the extraordinary woman she truly is, realising the depth of his mistake. But will his remorse be enough to win back the heart he so carelessly discarded?
