Chapter 1 A life Of Luxury

The Lakosta estate was a marvel of modern architecture, a sprawling mansion that seemed to stretch on forever. With its sleek lines, floor-to-ceiling windows, and immaculately manicured lawns, it was the epitome of luxury and sophistication.

As Cheryl made her way through the winding hallways, she couldn't help but feel a sense of disconnection. Despite having lived in the mansion for several years, she still felt like an outsider, a guest in someone else's home.

She passed by the opulent living room, with its plush couches and sparkling chandeliers. The room was filled with the sound of laughter and music, as Jude's family and friends mingled and socialized.

Cheryl's heart sank as she watched the scene unfold before her. She had never felt like she truly belonged in this world, and moments like these only served to reinforce that feeling.

She continued on her way, passing by the formal dining room, the library, and the home theater. Each room was more opulent than the last, filled with the finest furnishings and decorations that money could buy.

As she walked, Cheryl couldn't help but think about the vast disparities in wealth and privilege that existed in the world. She had grown up with a silver spoon in her mouth, never wanting for anything. But as she got older, she began to realize just how fortunate she was, and how many people struggled to make ends meet.

She pushed the thoughts aside, focusing instead on the task at hand. She was on her way to meet with Jude's mother, Vivian, to discuss the final details of their upcoming wedding.

As she approached Vivian's office, Cheryl could feel her anxiety spiking. She had never gotten along with Vivian, who seemed to take great pleasure in criticizing and belittling her.

Cheryl took a deep breath, steeling herself for the encounter ahead. She pushed open the door to Vivian's office, and was immediately struck by the woman's imposing presence.

Vivian Lakosta was a force to be reckoned with, a woman who commanded respect and attention wherever she went. She was tall and statuesque, with piercing green eyes and long, curly blonde hair.

"Ah, Cheryl," Vivian said, her voice dripping with condescension. "I'm so glad you're here. We have a lot to discuss."

Cheryl smiled tightly, feeling a sense of trepidation wash over her. She knew that Vivian was not going to make this easy for her.

"The wedding planner is here to see us," Vivian continued, gesturing to a petite woman with a clipboard. "We need to finalize the details of the ceremony and reception."

Cheryl nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. At least this was something she could handle.

As the three of them pored over the wedding plans, Cheryl couldn't help but feel a sense of detachment. This was all so surreal, so removed from her own desires and dreams.

She thought back to her conversation with Leila earlier that day, and felt a pang of guilt. She knew that she couldn't keep pretending forever, that eventually she would have to face the truth about her feelings and her future with Jude.

But for now, she pushed the thoughts aside, focusing instead on the task at hand. She smiled and nodded, making all the right noises as the wedding planner outlined the details of the big day.

As the meeting drew to a close, Cheryl felt a sense of relief wash over her. She had made it through the ordeal without too much damage.

But as she stood up to leave, Vivian's voice stopped her in her tracks.

"Cheryl, can I have a word with you?" Vivian asked, her eyes narrowing.

Cheryl felt a sense of trepidation wash over her. What had she done now?

"Of course, Vivian," Cheryl replied, trying to sound calm.

Vivian smiled, a cold, calculating smile.

"I just wanted to remind you of your duties as a member of this family," Vivian said, her voice dripping with condescension. "You will be expected to behave in a certain way, to uphold the family's reputation and legacy."

Cheryl felt a surge of anger, but she pushed it aside, knowing
