Rowan POV
It had been three years since Sophia's disappearance. Three years since my world had been turned upside down. The police had given up on the case, and "Marcus" my rival, had never been charged. The wound still felt fresh, the pain still raw.
"Rachel, my assistant knocked softly on the door.
"Rowan" you have a meeting with the investors in an hour."
The rain poured down like a relentlessly, and there I stood on the floor-to-ceiling windows of my penthouse office, staring out at the grayness.
I nodded, not turning around. "I'll be there."
The meeting with the investors was a blur. I went through the motions, smiling and shaking hands, but my mind was elsewhere. I couldn't shake the feeling that Sophia was still out there, waiting for me to find her.
Later the meeting was adjourned, I sighed in relief. I needed to get out of here, to clear my head.
I told Rachel I'll be taking the rest of the day off and headed out into the rain-soaked streets.
The cool air hit me like a slap in the face, and for a moment, I felt alive.
Where was I headed? I don't know
I just keep walking,
It has become a routine since the dissapearance of Sophia
Her car was found in that tunnel, but she wasn't there
I looked every corners of the earth, even went as far to hire mercenaries. But still the search was futile
Even though every evidence point at that jerk "Marcus" the cop rules it off
"Although we're buisness rivals, he couldn't possibly hurt my fiance"
Those were his words at the station, playing pity party
But I knew, deep down in my mind, I knew "Marcus" was somehow connected to Sophia's disappearance.
But no solid evidence!
Lost in my thought, I walked block to block, not paying attention to where I was going, until I found myself standing outside a small high school.
I frowned, wondering what had drawn me there.
Arrrrgh.... I'm clearly losing my mind.
And then, I saw her
A girl with piercing green eyes and raven-black hair, walking down the steps of the school.
For a moment, My heart stopped. It was Sophia...

My eyes were glued to the girl as she walked down the steps, her eyes scanning the crowd, it was as if searching for someone.
Everything was similar, The same bright smile, the same sparkle in her eyes.
I stood there, frozen in time, the girl's eyes met mine
And for a moment, we just stared at each other,
My heart pounding in my chest. Then, the girl's eyes dropped, and she looked away, hurrying down the steps.
I felt like I had been punched in the gut. I couldn't breathe, couldn't think. All I could do was stand there, staring after the girl as she disappeared into the crowd.
It wasn't until the rain started to soak through my clothes that I snapped back to reality.
I looked around, taking in the familiar sights of the high school. What I'm I doing here? And who was that girl?
My mind raced as I quickly made my way back to where I parked my car.
I needed to find out more about that girl. I needed to know if she was somehow connected to Sophia.
I couldn't shake the feeling off as i drove drove back home, I think my life was about to change in ways I couldn't even imagine. Or I'm I imagining?
Over the next few days, I find myself driving past the high school again and again, hoping to catch a glimpse of the mysterious girl.
I even went so far as to park outside the school, watching as the students came and went.
It wasn't until the third day that I finally saw her again. She was walking out of the school, laughing with a group of friends.
My heart skipped a beat as I watched her, feeling like I was seeing Sophia all over again.
This time, I didn't just sit there. I got out of his car and followed her, keeping a safe distance. Where did she live? What was her name?
I thought Sophia's memory would haunt me forever. But now, I wasn't so sure.
I couldn't sleep for the past 3days, my heart was beating in a funny rhythm that I couldn't comprehend.
And my actions.... My actions aren't what I can actually say I'm sure of
Why I'm I back to the school? Why I'm I even following her?
Clearly sophia is not some high school girl, but....
why is my interest so piqued?
Or
Maybe, just maybe, this girl is my second chance at happiness
