Chapter 1 The Billionaire's Bargain: A Deal She Couldn't Refuse

Gabrielle Jones was a woman who thrived on control. As one of the most sought-after wedding planners in the city, she was the curator of happily-ever-afters. But while she orchestrated fairy-tale weddings for others, her own life was far from perfect. She was in serious financial trouble, with her business struggling to stay afloat. Her pride made it hard for her to ask for help. All of this left her on the verge of losing everything. The last thing she needed was a man like Aaron Davies waltzing into her life with his impossible demands and perfect face.

Aaron Davies, the CEO of Davies Enterprises, was a force of nature. With his piercing Blue eyes, a jawline that could cut glass, and a presence that commanded every room he entered, he was the epitome of power and privilege. He was also, as Gabrielle quickly discovered, the most arrogant man she had ever met and also a bachelor.

Their first encounter was anything but romantic. Gabrielle had been summoned to Aaron's penthouse office. She'd expected a business meeting, perhaps a discussion about planning a high-profile wedding for one of his associates or even His, who knows 'lol'. What she got was a proposal that turned her world upside down.

"Marry me," Aaron said, his voice calm and unwavering, as if he were discussing a merger rather than a lifelong commitment which should be built on love and trust. He slid a crisp, white contract across the table, the gold trim on the edges catching the light.

Gabrielle froze, her coffee cup suspended halfway to her lips. The rich aroma of the espresso suddenly felt suffocating. "Excuse me?" she managed, her voice tinged with disbelief and shock.

Aaron leaned back in his chair, his tailored suit stretching perfectly over his broad shoulders. He pressed his fingertips together, his gaze never leaving hers. "It's simple," he said, his tone as smooth as the whiskey she imagined he drank. "One year of marriage. You play the perfect wife, and I'll clear your debts. After that, we go our separate ways."

Gabrielle's laugh was sharp, incredulous. "You're insane. I don't even know you."

"You don't have to know me," Aaron replied, his lips curling into a smirk that made her stomach flip in the most irritating way. "You just have to sign the contract."

Gabrielle stared at him, her thoughts spinning. His confidence was overwhelming. Did he really expect her to agree to something so outrageous? Did he really think she would agree to something so absurd? Marriage? To him? A man who clearly thought the world revolved around him? Her fingers tightened around the handle of her coffee cup. She wanted to laugh in his face, to tell him exactly where he could shove his ridiculous proposal. But as much as she wanted to storm out of his office and never look back, the weight of her financial struggles pressed down on her. The numbers flashed in her mind like a neon sign she couldn't ignore: the overdue rent on her apartment, the mountain of unpaid invoices for her wedding planning business, the threatening letters from the bank. She had worked so hard to build something of her own, to create a life that was hers and no one else's. And now, it was all crumbling around her.

Desperate times called for desperate measures, and Gabrielle was nothing if not desperate.

She picked up the contract, her fingers trembling slightly as she scanned it. It was all there, rhe terms, the conditions, the rules, and the language that reduced marriage to a transaction. One year. A million dollars. No strings attached. Could she do that?, she thought.

Aaron sat across from her, his piercing blue eyes locked on hers, his expression unreadable. He was the kind of man who exuded power and control. He was used to getting what he wanted, and right now, what he wanted was her.

"Why me?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Aaron's smirk softened into something almost genuine. "Because you're the only woman I've met who doesn't fall at my feet. And because," he added, his tone turning serious, "I need someone who can handle the spotlight without losing herself in it."

Gabrielle hesitated. Her pride told her to say no, but her practical side knew this might be her only way out. With a deep breath, she picked up the pen and signed her name. This was her chance to start over, to reclaim control of her life. But at what cost?

As she set the pen down, she couldn't shake the feeling that her life was about to change in ways she couldn't predict.
