Chapter 1 Chasing shadows

Chapter One: Chasing Shadows

In the heart of Manhattan, where skyscrapers kissed the clouds and luxury dripped from every corner, lived Isabella Sinclair, a name synonymous with wealth and privilege. The Sinclair family was one of the most powerful dynasties in the United States, led by her father, Alexander Sinclair, a shrewd businessman known for his ruthless tactics and unyielding ambition. Isabella, often referred to as Bella by her friends, was an heiress in every sense, surrounded by opulence yet cloaked in loneliness.

Having lost her mother at a young age, Bella often felt like a ghost in her own life, drifting through lavish parties and exclusive events, her heart yearning for genuine connection. Her two brothers, Nathan and Lucas, were her only allies in a world that often felt suffocating. Nathan, the eldest, was a charismatic entrepreneur with a penchant for adventure, while Lucas, the youngest, was a tech prodigy, always lost in his gadgets and dreams of innovation. Together, they formed a tight-knit trio, navigating the complexities of their privileged lives.

Bella found solace in her two best friends, Sofia and Ethan. Sofia, with her fiery spirit and unwavering loyalty, was the sister Bella never had. Ethan, the charming and witty friend, always knew how to make her laugh, his carefree attitude a refreshing contrast to the weight of her family's expectations. They were her escape, her confidants, and the only ones who truly understood the pressures that came with her last name.

As Bella sat in her lavish bedroom, adorned with designer clothes and priceless art, she gazed out at the bustling city below. The sun dipped low, casting a golden hue across the skyline, but inside her heart, a shadow loomed. She felt a strange pull towards the unknown, an inexplicable desire to break free from her gilded cage. Little did she know, her life was on the brink of a transformation that would challenge everything she knew. The game of shadows was about to begin, and Bella was ready to chase after her dreams, unaware of the secrets that lay ahead.

I received a pornographic video. "Do you like this?" The man speaking in the video is my husband, Mark, whom I haven't seen for several months. He is naked, his shirt and pants scattered on the ground, thrusting forcefully on a woman whose face I can't see, her plump and round breasts bouncing vigorously. I can clearly hear the slapping sounds in the video, mixed with lustful moans and grunts. "Yes, yes, fuck me hard, baby," the woman screams ecstatically in response. "You naughty girl!" Mark stands up and flips her over, slapping her buttocks as he speaks. "Stick your ass up!" The woman giggles, turns around, sways her buttocks, and kneels on the bed. I feel like someone has poured a bucket of ice water on my head. It's bad enough that my husband is having an affair, but what's worse is that the other woman is my own sister, Bella. ************************************************************************************************************************ "I want to get a divorce, Mark," I repeated myself in case he didn't hear me the first time-even though I knew he'd heard me clearly. He stared at me with a frown before answering coldly, "It's not up to you! I'm very busy, don't waste my time with such boring topics, or try to attract my attention!" The last thing I was going to do was argue or bicker with him. "I will have the lawyer send you the divorce agreement," was all I said, as calmly as I could muster. He didn't even say another word after that and just went through the door he'd been standing in front of, slamming it harshly behind him. My eyes lingered on the knob of the door a bit absentmindedly before I pulled the wedding ring off my finger and placed it on the table. I grabbed my suitcase, which I'd already had my things packed in and headed out of the house.
