When love Cost Me You is a heartfelt story of unspoken love, missed chances, and the pain of realizing one's feelings too late. Dennis, a reserved and caring teacher, has harbored deep feelings for his colleague Lilian but never found the courage to confess. He watches over her from the sidelines, always there but never crossing the line. Lilian, on the other hand, assumes Dennis sees her only as a friend-especially when he gives her no reason to think otherwise. When Raymond, the charming and ambitious son of the school's principal, enters the picture, everything shifts. He and Lilian quickly form a strong bond, and as she grows closer to him, Dennis begins to feel a strange, unfamiliar ache-jealousy. Yet, when she asks Dennis what he thinks of Raymond, hoping for a sign of something deeper between them, his response confirms her doubts: "He's cool. Any lady that bags him sure did win a medal. You both would make a good couple." With those words, Dennis unknowingly pushes Lilian away, and she finally allows herself to embrace her feelings for Raymond. Their growing closeness and eventual engagement force Dennis to confront the painful truth-he has lost her, not because someone else stole her heart, but because he never had the courage to claim it in the first place. A story of love, regret, and the cost of silence, When Silence Cost Me You explores how hesitation can sometimes be the biggest mistake of all.

Chapter 1 The unspoken bond

The rhythmic hum of Dennis's motorcycle filled the early morning air as he slowed to a stop at the familiar corner. Lilian was already waiting, her arms wrapped around her books, her long cardigan swaying in the morning breeze. She smiled as she approached.

"You're early today," she teased, adjusting her bag before swinging a leg over the bike.

Dennis chuckled lightly. "For once, yeah."

This had become their routine-riding to school together, sharing small conversations that should have meant nothing but somehow meant everything. Dennis had never been good at words, but with Lilian, silence felt comfortable.

The high school where they worked came into view-a private institution owned by a well-known businessman. It was a respectable place, one that demanded professionalism from its teachers, yet the environment remained warm. Students walked the halls with familiarity, teachers exchanged greetings, and the scent of fresh chalk and old books lingered in the air.

Dennis parked his bike in their usual spot. As they made their way inside, Annie called out to them from the staff lounge, waving a hand with a cup of coffee in the other. "The duo is here. Lilian, you sure Dennis isn't charging you for gas?"

Lilian laughed, shaking her head. "If he is, he hasn't told me yet."

Dennis only smirked, used to Annie's playful teasing. She had been a good friend since he started teaching here, offering advice and the occasional dose of sarcasm.

As the morning passed, Dennis found himself distracted in class. He watched Lilian through the glass-paneled teachers' room across the hall, her expression animated as she explained something to a student. She was passionate about teaching, about life, and it was one of the many things he admired about her.

And yet, he said nothing.

That afternoon, as they rode home, Lilian sighed, resting her chin lightly on his shoulder. "It's been a long day."

Dennis swallowed hard. It was moments like this-so simple, so natural-that made him wish he could say what was in his heart.

But, as always, he stayed silent.

"Carroll Brown is dead! But you have to marry him in your sister's name." My mother said to me in a cold tone. My sister was engaged to the hottest billionaire. It should have been a perfect marriage. Unexpectedly, Carroll was dead in an accident. My sister didn't want to become a widow, so she forced me to marry her dead fiance. And I had no right to refuse her. Actually, I was the biological daughter of the Smith family. My sister was an adoptive one. My sister and I had been swapped at the hospital when we were just born. My parents had already had a deep relationship with her. So they chose to sacrifice me. On the wedding day, I was taken to the mourning hall. "Ma'am, please keep Master company and let him feel warm." The housekeeper said with a cold expression. I couldn't help but look up at the portrait above the coffin, and my heart skipped a beat at this glance. The man in the portrait was more handsome than the superstars in Hollywood. Carroll Brown? My dead husband? Wow, he was really handsome! I didn't know how long had passed when my stomach began to rebel. After one glance at the coffin, I swallowed my saliva and then begged with my fingers crossed. "Mr. Carroll, I'm starving! May I eat your pastries? You don't mind, do you?" "I do." "Ah!" Scared, I broke out in a cold sweat. My legs went limp, and I fell to the ground. I shouted, "Ghost!" Carroll curled his lips, leaned over, and touched the black coffin. "Mr. Carroll has risen from the dead. What do you think of this headline tomorrow?"
