In a world where love is a choice, will they sacrifice everything for the one they never wanted?

Chapter 1 The Girl with no past

Selene barely remembered life before the Silverbrook Pack. Her earliest memory was of waking up in the middle of a storm, drenched and shivering in the woods. She had been seven years old, her tiny body covered in bruises, her mind blank. No name, no family, no past-only the silver pendant around her neck, shaped like a crescent moon. It was Alpha Elias who found her that night. She remembered the way he had stood over her, his golden eyes narrowing as if he saw something beyond the little girl collapsed at his feet.

She had expected him to leave her there-rogues were not welcome in pack territory-but instead, he had taken her in. "You have no scent," he had said, voice laced with suspicion. "That should be impossible." It wasn't until years later that Selene understood how strange that was. Every werewolf had a scent-unique, unmistakable. But she had none. The pack had been wary of her at first. A nameless girl with no past, no scent, and no memory? She was an outsider, an anomaly. If it weren't for Luca, she might never have truly belonged. He had been the one to defend her, the one who convinced Alpha Elias to let her stay. They had grown up together-running through the woods, training side by side, laughing under the moon. He had been her best friend, her protector, her home. But now, with the prophecy broken, the pack was looking at her the same way they had when she first arrived. Like she didn't belong. Who am I? Selene sat on the edge of the riverbank, staring at her reflection in the water. The whispers from the pack still echoed in her mind. "She was never supposed to exist." "Her name was never meant to be spoken." "She's not one of us." Her fingers brushed over the crescent moon pendant around her neck. It was the only clue she had to her past. She had never taken it off, never questioned where it came from. But now... what if the answers had been right in front of her all along? A sudden movement in the trees made her stiffen. Instinctively, she turned-and froze. Alpha Elias was watching her. For the first time, Selene noticed the way he looked at her-not just with concern, but with something deeper. Like he knew something she didn't. "Tell me the truth," she said, standing up. "You knew I was different from the beginning, didn't you?" Alpha Elias was silent for a long moment. Then he spoke. "I don't know who you are, Selene." His voice was careful, measured. "But I know one thing." Her pulse pounded in her ears. "What?" He stepped closer, lowering his voice. "The night I found you... the Moon whispered your name before you even spoke it." Selene's breath hitched. The Moon had named her? Before she could respond, a howl echoed through the trees-low, urgent, filled with warning. Luca. Something was wrong.

"Carroll Brown is dead! But you have to marry him in your sister's name." My mother said to me in a cold tone. My sister was engaged to the hottest billionaire. It should have been a perfect marriage. Unexpectedly, Carroll was dead in an accident. My sister didn't want to become a widow, so she forced me to marry her dead fiance. And I had no right to refuse her. Actually, I was the biological daughter of the Smith family. My sister was an adoptive one. My sister and I had been swapped at the hospital when we were just born. My parents had already had a deep relationship with her. So they chose to sacrifice me. On the wedding day, I was taken to the mourning hall. "Ma'am, please keep Master company and let him feel warm." The housekeeper said with a cold expression. I couldn't help but look up at the portrait above the coffin, and my heart skipped a beat at this glance. The man in the portrait was more handsome than the superstars in Hollywood. Carroll Brown? My dead husband? Wow, he was really handsome! I didn't know how long had passed when my stomach began to rebel. After one glance at the coffin, I swallowed my saliva and then begged with my fingers crossed. "Mr. Carroll, I'm starving! May I eat your pastries? You don't mind, do you?" "I do." "Ah!" Scared, I broke out in a cold sweat. My legs went limp, and I fell to the ground. I shouted, "Ghost!" Carroll curled his lips, leaned over, and touched the black coffin. "Mr. Carroll has risen from the dead. What do you think of this headline tomorrow?"
