In a world where werewolves rule the night and witches conspire in the shadows, Aria is never meant to live. Born a twin under a cursed prophecy, she was cast out and left for dead by her own family. Her uncle, Varek, orchestrated her death, believing her survival would threaten his quest for power and taint her brother Kane's destiny as the greatest Alpha ever known. But Aria survived. Hidden in exile, she grew stronger, unknowingly holding the key to a power capable of reshaping the fate of all werewolves. Years later, as her twin Kane struggles to hold his pack together amidst a brewing war with witches and betrayal within his ranks, Aria emerges from the shadows. Now, the rejected Luna must face her past, her family, and her destiny. But as secrets unravel and alliances shift, the greatest threat may not be the witches or Varek, but the bond she shares with Kane and the prophecy that doomed them both.

Chapter 1 A Prophecy of Blood

The night was alive with a strange energy, the kind that made the hairs on the back of a wolf's neck rise. The full moon hung low and swollen in the sky, casting an eerie silver glow over the Lupine Hollow pack's stronghold. Deep in the forest, nestled among ancient trees, the Alpha's den echoed with cries-not of war, but of birth.

Alpha Darius paced the stone floor outside the birthing chamber, his fists clenched and jaw tight. He was a formidable figure-broad-shouldered, with scars etched into his tanned skin, each a testament to battles fought for the pack's survival. But now, his usual stoic demeanor faltered. Inside, his mate, Selene, labored to bring their pups into the world.

"Alpha," said Beta Corwin, stepping forward. The younger wolf hesitated before continuing. "The elder's words... Do you think it's true?"

Darius turned his piercing amber gaze on him. "The prophecy?" He didn't need to elaborate; everyone in the pack had heard the whispers. The old crone who served as the pack's seer had spoken of twins-born under a Hunter's Moon, one destined for greatness, the other for destruction.

"Prophecies are riddles wrapped in fear," Darius growled. "My pups will be strong. I'll see to that."

As if in answer, a piercing wail split the air, followed by a softer cry. Darius's heart surged with pride and relief as Corwin opened the door.

Inside, the room smelled of sweat, blood, and the sharp tang of herbs. Selene lay on the bed, her dark hair plastered to her pale face, but her eyes were bright with joy. Beside her, the midwife swaddled two tiny bundles, one in a blue cloth, the other in white.

"Twins," the midwife announced, her voice trembling. "A boy and a girl."

Darius stepped closer, his eyes softening as he looked down at his children. The boy squirmed in his blanket, letting out a defiant cry, while the girl lay silent, her golden eyes wide and unblinking.

"They're perfect," Selene whispered, her voice hoarse but full of love.

But before Darius could respond, the door creaked open, and Elder Varek entered. The Alpha's younger brother moved with the elegance of a predator, his long black coat brushing the ground. His silver hair gleamed under the moonlight streaming through the window.

"Well, well," Varek drawled, his voice like velvet laced with steel. "The future of our pack, born on a night of power."

Darius tensed. Though Varek was his blood, there was something about his brother that always set his instincts on edge. "What do you want, Varek?"

"I came to see my niece and nephew," Varek said, his lips curling into a smile that didn't reach his eyes. He leaned over the cradle, his gaze lingering on the girl.

"She's... quiet," he said softly.

"She's observing," Selene said, her tone sharp. "She's strong, like her brother."

Varek straightened, his smile hardening. "Strong, yes. But have you considered what the elder said? Twins born under a Hunter's Moon. The boy destined to be the strongest Alpha and the girl... destined to bring ruin."

"Enough," Darius snapped, his voice echoing through the chamber. "You dare bring such nonsense into this room? These are my children. I'll hear no more of your poison."

Varek bowed his head, but the glint in his eyes betrayed his thoughts. "Of course, Alpha. Forgive me. I only mean to protect the pack."

Darius watched him leave, his gut churning with unease. He turned back to his mate and children, willing the tension to dissipate. But in his heart, a seed of doubt had been planted.

Later That Night

The forest was silent, the kind of silence that meant predators were near. Varek moved swiftly through the shadows, his mind racing. The prophecy had been clear: one twin would rise, and the other would fall. The girl's golden eyes haunted him-eyes that seemed to see through to his very soul.

He couldn't risk it.

At the edge of the forest, a figure stepped out of the darkness. She was cloaked in black, her face hidden beneath a hood. The air around her crackled with power.

"You have the blood?" the witch asked, her voice a rasp.

"Not yet," Varek said, his tone cold. "The Alpha guards them closely. But the girl must die before she can grow strong. The boy's rise depends on her death."

The witch tilted her head. "And if she lives?"

"Then she'll destroy everything we've built," Varek hissed. "Do it quickly. Make it look like an accident."

The witch chuckled, a sound like dry leaves rustling in the wind. "Very well. But power demands a price, Varek. Are you prepared to pay it?"

Varek's eyes gleamed. "I'll pay whatever it takes."

A Shadow's Betrayal

In the Alpha's den, Selene stirred, her instincts prickling with unease. She looked down at her children, the boy sleeping peacefully, the girl staring up at her with those unnerving golden eyes.

Suddenly, the shadows shifted. A figure emerged-a loyal guardian who had overheard Varek's plans. He moved swiftly, his hands gentle but urgent as he lifted the baby girl from her cradle.

"I'm sorry, my Luna," he whispered, his voice breaking. "I have to protect her."

Selene's eyes widened, her voice a hoarse whisper. "What are you doing?"

Before she could stop him, he disappeared into the night, leaving only an empty cradle and the lingering scent of betrayal.
