Chapter 1 The Tragic
"A capachino please" A beautiful lady standing at the counter waves at me to take her order.
Immediately taking her orders and telling Jiya her order to prepare.
I looked at the window seeing people passing by.
It's that time of the month again. All those memories came flooding like it was yesterday when it happened.
Life was going good. We were a good family or that's what I used to think those days.
When dad gets to know about mom's affair, he was disheartened to the extent that he closed off from the world leaving us to our own and went missing.
Mom on the other hand married to a rich man after one month of dad's missing.
At first we have thought that she will keep us with her but she did not even came back to take us and when we went there to meet her, she clearly threatened that if we ever came back to her for anything, she will send us to an Orphanage.
It was all 5 years back but thinking about that still aches my heart.
I love my brother Cally unconditionally.
The only light in my life.
At the age of 14, I started living on my own with him in that small apartment, managing both our expenses by taking little jobs.
Completing my studies early didn't help me much except that now I can devote my full time to my brother.
Hearing the bell ring from the kitchen, I was thrown back to the reality.
"I am going on a date today Izzy" Jiya said handing me the order of that lady. Chuckling to her words, I replied
"Weren't you there last week too" then made my way to the customer with the tray in my hand when I heard her shouting
"I'm in the search of finding a prince charming, good thing takes timeee. But this time my guts saying he is the one Izzyy"
This is her. Her personality always amazes me. She always lightens my mood.
"Here your order ma'am" That lady looked at me and mouthed 'thank you' to which I smiled back.
My shift ends at 2 pm. It's already half past one. It's almost time to go home not before picking Cally from the school.
I was working here in this small cafe at downside road facing park since 2 yrs. Pay wasn't much but it was enough to keep a roof at our head and food in our stomach.
Some side money I could afford by selling my paintings. It was my hobby before but after those tragic, I have to sell my paintings in order to keep myself alive with no work.
Now all the extra time which I used to have at evenings, I paint and sell them in order to keep up with the fees of Cally school.
Making my way to the school to pick up Cally since it's already 2 pm. I was little late.
After reaching the gates,
I couldn't find Cally anywhere.
Normally he would sit in the bench here near the gate waiting for me but today he wasn't here.
Worry took over me and I immediately made my way inside the school searching Cally everywhere on the playground.
Not finding him there, I made my way to the office. Principal was already out in the corridor probably strolling.
Seeing me she made her way towards like she was expecting me to be here. I hope everything is okay.
Her face etched with worry. I immediately asked her once we were face to face
"Where is Cally, my little brother. He was supposed to be here. I couldn't find him anywhere."
After hearing her reply, Everything becomes numb. My mind went black and the pain in my chest intensifies hearing her.
"I am sorry Miss Isabella. We tried to contact you but your phone was answered switch off. He fainted while playing. After several trying of waking him up. We took him to the hospital.
There we gotta to know that he is suffering from Cancer"
