"The Web Of Deceit " tells the story of Paris Collins as she descends into a dark place. Her domineering husband, Justin, exerts control over her, leading her to become estranged from her family and engulfed in feelings of guilt and despair.
Chapter 1 The Influence Of Rose
Paris started spending more time with Justin and rose on other days and less time with her family in the subsequent week. One day, her friend Rose came over and wasted no time to engage in conversation.
"How are things with you and Justin?" Rose asked, still feeling the effects of wine.
Paris gave a weak smile, "It's fine, it is just a lot of things to juggle".
Rose jerked up an eyebrow, "You know, Justin's rightly so. Your family is practically out of control. They are suffocating you."
At this point, Paris began to feel anxious. Rose high-handedly said whatever came to her mind but this time she sounded different. "I'm not sure about that, Rose. Am I expected to lose my family?"
Rose rolled her shoulders with a smooth but vaguely manipulative voice saying, "But you are married now. You owe Justin and Justin only, such things must be forgotten".
Paris's thoughts began to scramble around as usual. She was trying to sink in the flow of the conversation but Rose's words continued to ring in her.....
Time went by and Paris became more and more distant from her family. Her mother was repeatedly calling her and her sister composed text messages, all coming to no avail. She started to recollect the moment she was on the verge of reaching her phone but then that voice of Justin came to her head telling her otherwise.
Then came that one evening when her mother sounded anxious in a voicemail she left.
"Paris, sweetie, it has been a long time. We are waiting for your phone call".
Paris was in two minds looking at her phone, and just when she decided to pick the phone up, Justin's voice was there.
"Just steer clear of them, Paris. They only seek to manipulate you. The path you took is without a doubt correct."
She felt the heaviness of her guilt deepen, yet the inclination to say something was quelled. "Okay then," she said meekly, too unsure to be on the fence.
As the rift with her family widened, the Dyson sphere around Justin's words seemed to overpower the swirling neglect she felt.
