Chapter 1 The Art Of Revenge

Sage POV:

What!!! I screamed into the phone; this is the second time Ayla my niece is having a relapse and my dad just called to say they were on their way to the hospital.... I ran frantically to leave the art exhibition center where I work as an art attendance, but trust the universe to always work against me; I accidentally knocked down a painting worth millions, and it came crashing down the floor and within the next few seconds; came the most beautiful man I have ever seen, but the thought slipped out as fast as it came in when I saw the rage and horror in those beautiful grey eyes; I did nothing but squirm under his hateful eyes and all I thought at the moment was how to disappear from the building and catch up with my dad..... while I was still lost in thought, his voice thundered throughout the exhibition center "what did you just do!!?"; I was thrown off balance, "I-I'm sorry, it was an accident" I stammered.

"An Accident!!? He repeated with the utmost disdain in his voice; you a little piece of shit, "you have no idea what you have gotten yourself into and I bet you are going to pay dearly for it " was the last thing he said before another man who has not been standing there all this while came in; stop Kairos you are making a scene and that was my cue as I scurried out of the exhibition center, not without looking back to see the new man casting me a reassuring glance as if that makes everything better....

While I walked to the hospital I had this erring feeling that this wasn't the end of it; on getting to the hospital I was faced with yet another bad news " I'm sorry M's Sage but your sister can't survive on just dialysis anymore and the faster you prepare for her to get a kidney transplant the better chance she gets at surviving" was what the doctor treating Ayla said.... I was shaken because neither Dad nor I could afford the required money for the transplant......

It's been days since the hospital incident and all I have thought of was how to gather up money for Ayla's treatment, I was still in thought when my phone rang and it was my best friend Lena; "you know when the universe sends you a guardian Angel"? Well, Lena is that guardian Angel, ever since I lost my mum and sister (Ayla's Mom) Lena has been nothing but supportive; she acts as Ayla's mum and as a big sister.

" Hey best girl" how are you doing? What's been going on? Any plans on how to get funds? She asked through the phone... nothing yet, was all I could muster up, "well I think I have got a plan" That was all it took for me to hear from Lena and my mood was brightened as the daylight ...

"So I came across a protest program that can salvage the high cost of treatment and lack of access to life-saving treatment for ESRD patients and I think you should participate in that" At least we might get a slash for the fund. Lena said. Well, that wasn't a bad idea, I would give it a thought and get back to you girl; thanks for always coming through for me.

......."Make kidney Transplant affordable for all"; Healthcare is a human right: support ESRD Patients", Care not profits; prioritize ESRD patient's needs!!! We all shouted during the protest but yet again I felt a burning feeling as if I was being watched at the protest grounds, I paved my eyes frantically and nothing seemed ordinary.....

While going home I told Lena all that had happened in the past few weeks how I got the feeling that I was being watched today at the protest grounds and how I felt that it was the man I broke his painting, but Lena said I was being paranoid and that I should let it go because nothing was out of ordinary there...

Good day ma'am, and welcome to Newyorkart.com how May I be of help? I asked the young girl who just stepped into my workplace but she never gave me a reply rather she gave me a note and pointed outside.

......." Don't think it's over, I am watching you" was the content of the note; all I felt at that moment was fear and I picked up my phone to call my best friend, she picked up immediately and upon hearing my voice she knew something was wrong and asked I come straight to her place which I didn't hesitate doing, thank goodness my working shift was over.

I explained everything that happened at the exhibition night to Lena and gave a description of the man, Lena scoured the internet and checked social media. But no matter where she looked, she came up empty-handed.

"It's like he doesn't exist, I said, frustration etched on my face because I don't even know his name. I would have gone to repay him and ask he to stop threatening me.

Feeling exhausted "Here eat some food first and keep your mind at rest" We would get to the end of this Lena said.

Thank you best I don't know what I'd do

without you, I sobbed while hugging Lena.

And with that, I put the encounter with the unknown man out of my mind and continued with my daily life.

Kairos POV:

It's been days since the art exhibit, where a clumsy yet beautiful girl ruined a valuable piece of art worth millions and she dared to smile and apologize as if it was no big deal. But it was a big deal to me, and it would also be one to her.

As I sat in my office, I couldn't help but think about how I was going to make her pay for what she had done. I have a reputation for being a ruthless tech mogul and businessman, and I'm not about to let some careless little girl get away with damaging my property.

Just then, my assistant knocked on the door and came in with a folder full of information on the girl. I took it from him and flipped through it, "SAGE" I said out loud, what a beautiful name she's got; As I read through the file, I learned that Sage was a struggling artist and she worked in the art exhibition local studio, she lived with her Dad and niece in a small apartment in a rough neighborhood "interesting I thought", I scanned my eyes through the pages for anything interesting and one did caught my eyes; her little niece is an "ESRD patient" I smiled to myself. This was perfect. I had exactly what I needed to take Sage down.
