Chapter 1 Moonlight Tensions

Elara's POV

Tending to the wounds of the warriors after every fight can be exhausting. The Silver Hollow Pack has always been at war with the Silver Hollow Pack since I was a child, "Elara", I heard elder Louis voice, looking back he said, "You are to come to the meeting hall now".

Looking at him, he looks very tensed like he's being bothered by something. "I would be there in five minutes", I said without taking my eyes of the injured soldier.

He stormed off whispering insultive words which by the way doesn't mean anything to me. Bandaged the injured soldier wounds and headed towards the meeting hall.

Standing at the entrance, I heard different voices and an unknown voice which was very strange.

Growing up in the Lunar Ridge Pack as an healer I have learnt to recognize everyone's voices including the Alpha and my so called father.

Entering into the meeting hall and felt all eyes on me including a very disturbing presence.

" Elara come up here", the Alpha said. Looking at him, he looks very tensed. Going closer to him and looking at a face I have never seen before but felt a sense of familiarity in those eyes.

"This is Ronan Frost, Alpha of the Silver Hollow Pack", my breath seized immediately. "He has come to form an alliance with our pack to stop the war between the two pack and he has chosen you as his bride".

"Oh no, why me, I don't have anything special except the gift of healing which is very common, he could have chosen the alpha's daughter ", I kept on looking for reasons why i'm chosen.

" With all due respect Alpha, I don't think I'm in a good position to accept this alliance, besides Alpha Ronan can choose a bride from the warriors, he wouldn't want to have a weak healer as his bride", hoping he will reconsider his decision.

The Alpha snarled and held my jaw, "You will not question my order, you should be grateful that this war will be stopped and you a lowly healer will be known forever ".

As usual my father sat there without bothering to help even when his own daughter is being threatened. "Yes Alpha, my apologies" I said looking at my worn out shoes.

I looked at Alpha Ronan sitting at the other side of the table wondering why he looks so familiar to me.

"The wedding rites will be held on the second day of the third month, I and my beta will arrive with the necessities", Alpha Ronan said and I can't help but purr at sound of his voice. My wolf feels content hearing his voice which is so strange.

I walked out of the meeting room, avoiding all the evil and hateful glances coming my way.

Finally got to my room and noticed a presence in my room. "You need to be calm kitten, you look like you've seen a ghost", I heard the same voice that almost made me purr.

"What do you want Alpha Ronan, whatever you want to say can be said on the day of the rites, so can you please leave?". Alpha Ronan smirked like he's amused, " I only want to know how you feel close by, my wolf can't seem to relax without you being close by which is strange cause you are not my fated mate".

"You know kitten, you look so beautiful when you are angry and so hard to read". I looked at him like he has grown horns, "Like I said I would you to get out".

He started moving closer to me and trapped me between his arms," This is just an arranged marriage, I would like to remind you that I'm jn charge here and i wouldn't any form of disrespect from you".

He walked out of my room fuming and I'm wondering how my future will be when I finally get this man.

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé. Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now-billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn't mind. I'd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one? Wrong. One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That's when it hit me-he didn't love me. He didn't even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn't even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup. So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster-my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise. Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol. Enter him. Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I'd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes. It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised. But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life. And, as it turned out, the best decision I'd ever made. Because my one-night stand isn't just some random guy. He's richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with. And now, he's not letting me go.
