A renowned neurologist was stabbed multiple times during a consultation. I begged my husband to perform the surgery. But he told me to get as far away as possible. He didn't believe that it was my father, his teacher whom he respected deeply, who was in trouble. During my father's funeral, he was out stargazing with his beloved. I divorced him to set him free. Yet, he tore up the divorce agreement.

Chapter 1

"A man wielding a knife burst into Cartacero General Hospital today, repeatedly stabbing a doctor. The victim is currently undergoing emergency treatment, and the suspect has been apprehended. The police are investigating the motive... "

When I was listening to the voice from the television, my hands trembled with anxiety.

I looked up at the brightly lit emergency room across from me, unable to calm my racing heart. "Dad, please be okay."

"Get someone from surgery to help!" A nurse rushed out in a hurry.

I quickly pulled out my phone, and lost the password three times to unlock, then desperately scrolled through my contacts.

"Please answer, please answer. " I muttered anxiously, waiting for the other end to answer.

"The number you dialed is temporarily unavailable... "

Staring at the phone in disbelief, I redialed after a moment of confusion.

After thirteen attempts, the call finally connected.

"Kenneth, Dad's in trouble and needs a surgeon. You have to come back quickly. " I choked out.

My husband, Kenneth Bailey, was celebrated as a leading surgeon at the hospital. With him there, I was sure Dad would be safe.

There was a pause on the other end before a woman's voice spoke.

"Kenneth is driving and can't take the call."

She was Tonya White, Kenneth's ex-girlfriend.

I gritted my teeth, struggling to keep my emotions in check. "Let him take the call. His mentor is dying, he must come back immediately."

I heard indistinct murmurs in the background, but couldn't make out the words.

The next moment, I heard Kenneth's voice, cold and derisive. "Do you think such a trick would make me believe you? How could Dr. Nash have a daughter like you, coming up with such a poor excuse?"

I hurriedly shouted, "I'm not lying... "

"Beep-beep-"

Kenneth hung up.

I stared blankly at the dark screen of my phone.

"Christine, I'm sorry. We did our best." The hospital director, with bloodstains on his clothes, stood before me, speaking with deep sorrow.

I shuddered, causing the phone to slip from my grasp to the floor.

I received a pornographic video. "Do you like this?" The man speaking in the video is my husband, Mark, whom I haven't seen for several months. He is naked, his shirt and pants scattered on the ground, thrusting forcefully on a woman whose face I can't see, her plump and round breasts bouncing vigorously. I can clearly hear the slapping sounds in the video, mixed with lustful moans and grunts. "Yes, yes, fuck me hard, baby," the woman screams ecstatically in response. "You naughty girl!" Mark stands up and flips her over, slapping her buttocks as he speaks. "Stick your ass up!" The woman giggles, turns around, sways her buttocks, and kneels on the bed. I feel like someone has poured a bucket of ice water on my head. It's bad enough that my husband is having an affair, but what's worse is that the other woman is my own sister, Bella. ************************************************************************************************************************ "I want to get a divorce, Mark," I repeated myself in case he didn't hear me the first time-even though I knew he'd heard me clearly. He stared at me with a frown before answering coldly, "It's not up to you! I'm very busy, don't waste my time with such boring topics, or try to attract my attention!" The last thing I was going to do was argue or bicker with him. "I will have the lawyer send you the divorce agreement," was all I said, as calmly as I could muster. He didn't even say another word after that and just went through the door he'd been standing in front of, slamming it harshly behind him. My eyes lingered on the knob of the door a bit absentmindedly before I pulled the wedding ring off my finger and placed it on the table. I grabbed my suitcase, which I'd already had my things packed in and headed out of the house.
