(Greenhood high school)
Inside a classroom, a group of students sat on their tables, writing some notes on their note books. In front of them was a teacher in her early fouties and she was busy teaching the children some stuff. Amongst those children was Olivia. She was lazily scribbling something on her note book, bored out of her wits. She kept glancing at her wrist watch, impatiently waiting for the bell to ring. As if God heard her silent prayer, the bell rang at that moment.
"Don't forget to do your homework. Page one hundred and six, exercise one. I'll be checking it first thing tomorrow morning." said Mrs Beam. Some children ignored her as they packed their books while some responded with a quick "yes ma'am" before packing their stuff. Olivia also quickly packed her books before leaving the class with one of her friends, Lisa.
"That was one of the most boring sessions of the year. I can't wait for the year to finally end. Like literally, next year, we'll be doing our first year in university. Can't say I'm not excited." said Lisa. Olivia chuckled.
"Of course you are. You've been saying this since the year started."she said, shaking her head in amusement. They were doing grade twelve, which was their final year, and Lisa was the most excited one to finish school amongst them friends. Apart from the two of them, there was also Rosa but she was not in the same studies as them. While they did maths and science, she did accounting, business studies and economics. Lisa grinned.
"I guess I'm a little excited but who wouldn't be? I'm finally finishing school! In just a few months, I'll be getting rid of my uniform and I'll join the big kids. I'll start wearing casual clothes, stay at school and do all those things that other University kids do. But before all of that, I'll throw a big party and I'll invite everyone. We'll sing, dance, drink and be merry! "she said excitedly.
"Then your mamma will find out, come home and kill you and everyone else that attended the party, right?" said Olivia. Lisa rolled her eyes.
"I never said I would throw the party in my house. Like duh, there's your house and Rosa's house.."she was saying when Olivia inturupted her.
" My house won't be available for your party sweety so don't even think about it. "she said with a smirk.
" Oh come on Liv. Don't be a party pooper. "said Lisa with a sulky face. Olivia rolled her eyes.
"That's so not gonna work on me so drop it. And anyway, my house is too small and my mom will never allow any party to take place in her house so just forget about it. We are writing a physics test today and you're busy thinking about a party. Geez." she said as she opened the door to their physics class.
"Physics what? We have a test? Damn, I forgot all about it." exclaimed Lisa as she ran past Olivia to her desk. Olivia chuckled and shook her helplessly.
"Such an idiot."she muttered with a small smile on her face.

It was the second last period when Olivia was called through the intercom.
" Olivia Smith, can you please come to the office. Olivia Smith, please come to the office"came the receptionist's voice through the intercom. Olivia and Lisa exchanged a glance.
" What's up? " mouthed lisa. Olivia shrugged as she stood up.
" I don't know. I'll find out soon though." she mouthed back. Lisa nodded.
"Smith, are you gonna make the principal wait for you?" came the teacher, Mr klipton's voice. Olivia sighed.
"No sir, I was about to leave." she said before walking out of the class. It took her five minutes to get to the office.
"Sorry ma'am, you called for me."she said as soon as she reached the receptionist's table. The receptionist, Amaya, looked at her with a small smile.
" The principal is expecting you in her private office. "she said. Olivia's face darkened as a frown graced her face. What the f**k did the principal want from her this time? She surely didn't cause any trouble lately and she has already made it clear she wasn't interested in any academic competition. Was there anything more she could need from her? She nodded slowly and sighed before turning around and going to the principal's private office, which was just opposite the main office. She gently knocked on the door.
"Come in." came principal brown's voice from inside. Olivia exhaled before gently twisting the door knob, opening the door before going in. She was surprised to see not only the principal but also her parents and two other people, a man wearing a black Taylor made suit and a woman who was wearing a custom made black elegant dress with shimmering diamonds. Obviously they were wealthy. They looked like they were in their early forties or late thirties. The woman looked a lot like her but she didn't pay attention to that.
"Good evening. Principal brown, you called for me?" she asked, a hint of confusion in her voice. What the f**k was happening? Why were her parents here? Did she perhaps do something wrong? And what about the two extra people? Did she offend their child, maybe? But she hadn't offended anyone in the past couple of weeks, at least she doesn't remember anything of any sort happening. Just then, the door opened and two ether ladies entered. One was wearing a work suit while the other was wearing a black leather mini skirt and a work shirt. The lady with the work suit stood behind the rich couple while the second lady sat at the last available chair.
"Yes Olivia, you may sit down." said the principal. Olivia shook her head.
"No thanks ma'am. I think I'll stand." she said. What she really wanted to say was, "should I sit on your head maybe?" but she held herself back. This was her principal and she had promised to change. She can't afford to loose her temper now.
"Mm. Okay then, I called you here because there is something important that we have to discuss with you. I'll need you to answer every question honestly and open mindedly. Are we clear?"asked the principal. Olivia hesitated for a moment before nodding. The principal smiled and turned to the lady that was sitting down.
" Over to you miss Carter. "she said. The woman, now known as miss Carter turned to Olivia.
" Good day, miss Olivia. "she greeted. Olivia nodded aloofly.
"evening." she said simply. The man's face carried a small smile while the lady besides him tried so hard to hold back her tears.
"I'm miss Carter and I'm a social worker. I've got a few questions for you and I'll need you to answer them as honestly as possible. Can you do that for me?"she asked. Olivia had the urge to roll her eyes but she controlled herself and crossed her arms.
" Do I have a choice? "she asked instead in a rather calm voice. They all chuckled except for the principal who glared at her and her parents. She wasn't to be funny. She genuinely wanted to know if she had a choice in any of this.
" Well, no you don't. "answered mi's Carter after composing herself.
" Then you shouldn't have asked."muttered Olivia under her breath. Ms Carter didn't hear her clearly.
" What?"she asked. Olivia faked a smile.
" Nothing ma'am."she said. Ms Carter nodded.
" So, can you tell me who these people are?"she asked, pointing at Olivia's parents. Olivia nodded.
" They are my parents."she answered. She didn't know where all of this was going. Ms Carter chuckled.
" Your parents, you say?"she asked. Olivia just stared at her blankly. She wasn't going to repeat herself. Ms Carter turned to the man in the suit.
" She's got your attitude."she said. The man chuckled softly, looking at Olivia with a hint of amusement. That irritated Olivia as she glared at him for a moment before looking away.
" Okay then, second question is, what would you do if you found out that they aren't your real parents? That you've been living your whole life in a lie? That your whole life was fake? That everything you had believed to be yours your r whole life, including your identity, belonged to someone else? What would you do? "asked Ms Carter. Olivia frowned, not liking where all this was going. A forbidding feeling rose inside her as she looked at her mother, who was already in tears as she looked down. She then turned to her father, who had a pained look on his face as his eyes was closed. She turned back to Ms Carter, her eyes narrowed slightly. It couldn't be what she was thinking.
"what are you implying?" she asked, her voice dangerously calm despite the twirl of emotions inside her. Ms carter sighed.
"Please promise me you won't break down." she said. Olivia remained silent and slowly glanced at everyone in the room. Her mom still had her head down, her father's eyes still closed with one tear that mistakenly fell, the principal's face filled with pity, the rich man's face emotionless as he glanced at her, the woman besides him trying very hard to hold back her tear, the lady behind them emotionless before going back to ms Carter. She already figured out what was about to be said but she didn't want to believe it. Slowly she nodded.
"Okay then, Mr and Mrs Smith aren't your biological parents. Mr and Mrs Williams are." she said.
