Chapter 1 The Betrayal

Maya's point of view

Hey! Darling I'm in front of the building." I muttered to my fiance on the phone in a low tone.

"Oh, you are here, nice one! come up to the 5th floor, and spot room 205." Ethan said at the receiving end, with his voice laced with excitement.

As I stepped out of the darkness and onto the grand entrance of the building with my pregnant belly, the faint glow of the nighttime lights cast an eerie shadow on the walls. My mind was a jumble of questions as I wondered why Ethan had invited me to this mysterious and unexpected meeting.

It's kind of strange, but I trust him. I know he hasn't been the best man as my father had wanted him to be, but I am very happy he acknowledged my pregnancy as his own in front of the whole pack.

The silence of the building was oppressive, and the only sound was the soft crunch of gravel beneath my feet. At some point I felt suspicious, but I was overshadowed by the love I have for him.

"I'm so excited right now; I'm sure he must have called me here to pick my wedding dress." I whispered inward to myself, with my mind laced with so much joy, as I checked the engagement ring in my finger.

I slowly entered into the silver-painted elevator; without noticing the person at the right corner of the elevator, I reached for the control button, but eventually my hands met with another hand, a woman of about 30 years of age, holding a broom stick and a mob.

"Hello there." I greeted calmly with my voice barely above whisper.

"Hi mam, so sorry for that." She apologized in a soft tone.

"Giggles! Not at all, which floor are you going to?" I questioned with a smile glued to my face, sending a friendly expression to her.

"4th floor, mam, I'm done cleaning other floors." She responded smartly, and I reached to the elevator control again, then I pressed the 4th and 5th floor buttons.

While the elevator sped upward, I kept on scanning her as she held on to her cleaning tools tightly. On getting to the 4th floor, she smiled and stepped out. I reciprocated back at her, and at that moment I remembered I didn't even ask for her name as I was so carried away by the anxiety I felt inside me.

After a few seconds, "Thrum!" The elevator stopped again, indicating that I had arrived at the 5th floor, which isn't quite long after it dropped the lady on the 4th floor.

As I walked out of the elevator, I was welcomed with a thick smoke of cigarettes, and the smell of an alcohol brand filled the air, but I continued until my eyes spotted room 205.

"Sweetheart Are you sure that wolfless will come?" I heard a familiar female voice whispered behind the door as I was about to press the doorbell fixed on the wall.

"She will definitely come; in fact, she must have gotten to the elevator right now; believe me, she's a dummy, my personal dummy." Ethan's voice whispered in the room before me, and that sent chills to my whole body as I walked up to the door. Without hesitation, I busted the door open.

"Ethan!! Wh... what's all these?" I screamed and questioned with my harsh tone as my eyes spotted my best friend Amelia on my fiancé's laps, kissing each other lips to lips affectionately, and they continued even when I entered with my protruding belly.

"Oh, the wofless witch is finally here like you said, baby." Amelia mockingly muttered and busted into an hysterical laughter, which aroused the anger in me the more.

"Maya, we have been waiting patiently for you, and this is how you greet us, really! Anyways, I called you here because I thought this was the right time for you to know the truth before our wedding, and without saying anything, I think you have a hint of what's going." Ethan declared sharply, then reached for the alcohol bottle on the table beside him.

I felt shocked to hear such words from them; my heart struck with a thunderbolt as I stood steel like a fool in front of them.

"Amelia, you betrayed my trust in you; you have been dating my fiance all this while I was busy telling you everything about us. I am a fool to have trusted an animal like you." I declared with eyes filled with tears rolling down on my face.

Meanwhile, Amelia approached Ethan again, and this time she made her point clearer as she jumped on him with her half-naked body, rubbing her ass on his cock, and locked her lips with his in my presence, but I let the fire out when I couldn't take it heat anymore. So I dragged her by her hair away from his lap to the marbled tiled floor.

"Get up from my man, I say, you stupid whore; you are nothing but a home wrecker. I still reminisced when I always pity your innocent life for not having a mate, not knowing this is the reason why you couldn't make any man fall for you, instead you stole mine." I said with my voice laced with anger as I stood over her with my protrude belly.

Apparently, Ethan was hurt for pulling her from his lap and never cares about what I was doing; he stood up and pushed me away from her.

"Leave her alone, you fat pig; now get out of here." Ethan shouted so loudly at my face with his deep, audible voice.

"Ethan! Why are you doing all these to us? Don't allow this bitch to destroy our longtime relationship; think about your unborn child." I said with my trembling voice, and my eyes were filled with tears still rolling down every second.

"Stop saying that trash; it's Your unborn child, not mine. You are wolfless and useless; do you expect me to marry you just like that, while I'm aiming at becoming the next Alpha of Craftanwood?" Ethan declared and mused thoughtfully, and at that moment I see a different version of him.

"Tell her Ethan, let this wolfless thing know the baby isn't yours. Maya, my friend, can you tell him how you slept with other men just to suit your sexual desire? I guess not." Amelia said with a deceiving smile fixed on her face as she lied against me.

"Oh! oh! I guess I'm not wrong when I say she's useless; she has been giving them the same thing she gave to me." Ethan declared with a puff of cigarette smoke coming out of his mouth.

My heart was shattered like a broken glass at that moment. I stood there like an idiot boxed up and didn't know what to do again. My whole brain felt like exploding. Ethan's calm gaze at the situation made my anger rise the more.

"Ethan, I know she has lied to you; please let's leave this place right now and I will explain everything to you in details; she's a bad influence. Here, feel your babay inside me." I said with my sad time as I held on to his hand and placed it on my belly to attract his good side.

"Smashed!

Amelia smashed an alcohol bottle on my head. Without remorse, Ethan tried stopping her, but she struggled to stab my stomach two times before she let go.

I collapsed to the ground with my whole body filled with my own blood flowing out from my stomach and my head simultaneously.

"Go to hell! Bitch, you deserve to die miserably." Amelia's voice echoed in my ears as I collapsed to the ground with the agony of losing my life and that of my unborn child.

"Stop this, Amelia; we don't want her dead in here." Ethan mused thoughtfully.

"Ethan, because of this ingrate, you lost your dignity." I said with my voice barely above whisper.

When they noticed I was dying, Ethan suggested a crazy idea.

"Let's push her out of the window." Ethan declared in a low tone, and without hesitation she agreed.

My whole body sailed through the air, my arms and legs splayed out like ragdolls. I felt a rush of wind in my face, my stomach lurching as I plummeted towards the ground.

Time seemed to slow down as I watched the window recede into the distance, a shocked face staring back at me. I tried to scream, but my voice was lost in the wind.

"Moon goddess, if truly you are there to help anyone, either werewolf or wolfless, please save me now, and I'll worship you forever." I spoke under my last breath, but nothing seems to happen as my soul gradually extracts itself from my body.

Then I let go of my hope of being saved, and the ground rushed up to meet me, and I felt a jolt of pain as I landed hard on the cobblestones. My head spun, and at that moment, everything went blank.
