A game of love affairs.
At the beginning, they only met in the darkness.
One more step, all changed.
Ivana knew it was a fruitless affair. Yes, she knew it from the start.
She's always been calm and self-controlled, but then she met him.
Barron Johnson thought it might be a game as before.
He was a dandy gentleman, but this time he met her.
In this knowingly fruitless game, they doubted their own sincerity.
Luckily, love saves all.
Looking back -
Fortunately, he met her.
Fortunately, she met him.

And there will be sin.
In the game of romance,
the first to love is the loser.
Nov. 26, Saturday, cloudy.
"DING -" The elevator doors closed.
Ivana walked in dragging her suitcase. She wore a light brown trench coat which made her look so slender and graceful. Her chestnut curls floated on her back while moving.
She took a blue gift box out of her bag gently caressing it, it's a gift she picked out just for him.
"DING-" The elevator doors opened. She stepped out in a hurry.
She did not tell him in advance that she would come back from her business trip today. She wanted to give him a surprise.
And indeed, it was a fucking big "surprise".
she pushed the door open and went in.
Unfamiliar perfume, high heels, skirt......
Looking up and forward.
A lace bra, panty, a few pieces of clothing were scattered on the way to bedroom.
Heart tingling inexplicably, she took a deep breath and clenched her hands together.
Only then did she realize that the bag and gift box had slipped out of her hand, and she didn't even know when.
All scattered around her feet, like those pieces of clothing on that floor, full of devastation.
Ivana didn't move, just stood in the doorway.
Time passed quickly, or perhaps slowly, and she had no idea how long she had stood there.
Until he appeared in her vision, wearing a yukata, with a fresh smell of shower gel. She naturally knew that smell, she chose it together with him, he said she smelled like the feeling of a rainbow after the rain, he liked that smell.
He looked at her lazily. Separated by a distance, yet too far away, she could not see his expression ---- as if there was a thick fog in front of her eyes, covering everything.
"You have guests at home?" She said, surprisingly calm without even a ripple in her voice.
It turned out that she could be so calm, probably because already knowing the outcome of this relationship. So, all the shock was within an acceptable limit.
He nodded and lazily walked to her step by step, even in such a situation he's still so elegant charming, and so calm.
Surprisingly, she was able to see him nodding, she just couldn't see the rest of his expression. How strange!
"So, now this guest is inside your room?" She continued.
He still nodded.
She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and slowly nodded,
"I see! Sorry to interrupt!"
She slowly opened the door and walked out step by step. She walked out of each other's life as well from then on.
She met him, Barron Johnson, at a charity dinner one year ago. She got the invitation under her boss' help because their target client would attend. She met a friend in college. She successfully booked orders because of this friend, and at the same time she got to know him.
In this one year time, they developed from sexual partners to boyfriend and girlfriend. They always had a good relationship before this business trip. She didn't expect breakup come so quickly, without any signs. She was broken up.
The door closed behind her.
No goodbye, because there was no possibility to see each again, and there was no need to meet.
She pressed the elevator button, watched the numbers keep jumping from top to bottom. Finally she reached the entrance of the neighborhood, it took a long time to stop a cab. She felt so cold today.
It used to be like that, she knew, because it was one of the city's most luxurious and exclusive neighborhoods. Cabs drove around it, rarely no one would take a cab here.
Pulling the door open, Ivana turned her head and took one last look. She used to think this game would end some day, just didn't know it would happen in such an awkward situation.
The cab was driving quickly towards her own house, till now Ivana found that she forgot to take the gift box.
"A parting gift," She thought, even though he might not care at all, "anyhow, he had bought me so many gifts."
In fact, this situation was good, omitting a lot of unnecessary trouble, at least there should be no woman so stupid to ask why in that scenario, right? All these possibilities boiled down to only one purpose---break up!
Finally, Ivana arrived at her own home. She did not live here for a long time. Luckily, she kept renting this house even though she moved to his apartment months before.
"Let's start with a cleanup." She said to herself.
Put the sheets and other items in the washing machine, wipe the floor, even in the nooks and crannies. Finally, everything that could be done was done.
When she came back to senses, she was surprised that it was already the middle of the night. Since it was the end of fall, it was already getting cooler. It's almost Halloween, it might be a lonely day.
Ivana hugged a pillow and huddled behind the bedroom door, shrinking into a tiny, tiny ball, as if she could protect herself that way.
Suddenly she felt so tired and all blank in mind. There had been something in her eyes, puffing and puffing down, one by one, as if it was like pearls from a broken thread, just refused to stop.
She touched with her hand, her face was wet, it turned out to be tears.
She didn't know when she fell asleep, half-awoken, she went back to that summer and the first time she met him......
One year ago, Sunday, the hall of charity dinner.
Ivana walked into the hall with a black one-shoulder gown. She wore a pearl necklace, light makeup, her chestnut hair was tied with pearl hairpins. Her cool demeanor and superior height made her look charming.
She glanced at the crowd, recognized her target, and walked straight towards him.
"Mr. Brown, glad to see you here," She raised her glass to greet with a man in black suit, "I watched your Instagram yesterday, you said you will come to this charity. You're here for the painting of Lipking, right?"
"Yes, definitely. How do you know?" Mr. Brown wondered.
"Your INs mentioned it many times," Ivana smiled, "I guess all your friends know this."
Mr. Brown laughed, "they might, sorry but may I know you are?"
"I am--"
"Ivana? Ivana Lawrence?"
Ivana was interrupted by a woman's voice. It sounded quite familiar. She turned her head and was hugged suddenly.
"Ivana!" The voice's so happy to see her, "Where are you now? How long had we not seen each other for?"
Ivana recognized her, Martina, a friend in college. She blushed slightly, fortunately the light could hide all.
In college, she hardly had time to get along with her classmates, she needed just work, study, and work, while for others study and enjoy the young time.
Till now, occasionally thinking back to her own college time, she also felt
regret for these absents. However, if time flashed back, she would still do as before.
She might not be friends with Martina if not for that accident.
"Martina, I also feel so happy to see you again." she turned to Mr. Brown, "This is Bill Brown, my--"
"Miss Miller, lucky to meet again," Mr. Brown nodded to Martina, "you two are friends?"
Martina smiled, "yes, we are very best friends, Mr. Brown. Can I borrow her for a while? We have not seen for a long time."
"Of course, we can talk again tomorrow in her office." Mr. Brown looked at Ivana, his sight told her that he knew her aim.
Martina pulled her over to a group of people who were chatting.
Maybe she was dressed too plain, or perhaps it was Martina, a great beauty, pulling her over, the guys glanced at her slightly for a few moments.
Martina smiled and introduced to them, "My best college friend --- Ivana Lawrence."
After her introduction, they looked up and nodded slightly at her.
He was one of them. He was facing her, and after a look, he lowered his eyes.
She did watch him extremely clear. He was the tallest among them, about 1.9 meters' tall. White silver-gray suit, golden hair and a unique-shaped earring on left ear. What attracted most were his eyes, pure blue, sparkling in the light, like crystal clear gems, full of vitality.
The auction begun. They auctioned a few things one after another. When hearing the final auction price, they acted common and collected.
It was clear that they were different from her, or the people around her. It was impossible for her to break into their circle, although she never wanted to.
The incident occurred when a pearl necklace was being auctioned.
This necklace was up for auction when he suddenly handed her the auction card.
People around looked at him in shock.
Ivana had been to auctions several times before, but never bought anything. Martina knew her dilemma, she put the card in her hand and said with a smile,
"If Johnson's got your back, just raise your card. Come on."
She raised the card twice and gave up as the price rising. She was whispering with Martina.
Suddenly her hand was raised and a lazy voice rang in her ear,
"100,000."
The warm breath sprayed softly into her ears, and it was indescribably numb.
Ivana looked up, his blue eyes were smiling, and people around could hear,
"We'll take it."
