Chapter 1 The unseen.

Aria Flynn's eyes fluttered open, her mind feeling unclear from the remains of her restless sleep, she lay still, her breathing rising and falling in a calculated motion. The silence of her apartment was her peace and quietness.

But the peace was short _lived.

Aria's gaze drifted to the window, where the first shadow of dawn came fourth. The sky was a great shade of indigo, with hues of crimson and gold bleeding into the darkness. It was a beautiful sight, one that usually takes Aria into the world of wonders and awe.

Today, however, it was different, it rather filled with horror and sense of dread.

Aria uncovered herself from the blanket and swung her legs over the side of the bed. She rubbed her eyes, trying to shake off the hovering deeziness.

It had just been three days since her last horrible nightmare.

Three days since her world turned upside down form the predictions and manifestation of her unexplainable supernatural powers.

Her memories of her childhood were hazy, something difficult to figuratively remember,. The only thing she could recall was the feeling of always being different, and how her family magically vanished into thin air.

She remembered, years back when she was just six years old, playing in the back yard of her family's old Victorian home, the sun was shining and the without warning, flames erupted. It began to consume they belongings, Aria blew a gentle breath into the air and the fire vanished.

It wasn't until she was twelve that Aria began to experience the full range of her supernatural powers. At first, it had been small things: moving objects with her mind, sensing changes in the weather, and hearing whispers in the darkness.

But as she grew older, Aria's powers had become stronger, more unpredictable, and more terrifying.she began to disassociate herself from humans and found herself more drawn to the supernatural world.

She could summon the winds, conjure fire from thin air, and even manipulate the shadows to do her bidding. But with each use of her powers, Aria felt herself losing a little more control.

It was as if the supernatural forces that coursed through her veins were alive, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

Aria stood up, tired of having memories of her childhood to get ready for the day. Her apartment was small and cozy with cream colored wall and dark hardwood floors. It was the best she could afford at that time. The furniture was minimal, with almost worn out couch, small coffee table and a tiny bed.

She scanned through the room, as though searching for something, then the symbol on the wall caught her attention. The symbol was an intricate swirling patterns that she drew by herself using a mixture of salt, herbs and her blood.

She called it a protection spell, one she believes it will always protect her from her own uncontrollable supernatural powers.

Done with her daily morning spell of the symbol, she began to get ready for the day. Aria had her shower, got dressed in a pair of Jean and black top and then she headed to the kitchen for some coffee.

She went back to get her things ready, waiting for her brew to finish, her eyes went back again to the symbol and she felt a shiver run through her body. Just then, she knew something was definitely coming.

Aria could feel it.

And she knew that she would have to be ready.

The coffee maker beeped, signaling that the brew was complete. Aria poured herself a cup, adding a dash of cream and sugar to the dark liquid.

She sat down and began to sip her coffee, suddenly she felt a jolt of electricity run through her body, the room began to get darker like there was a sudden cast of shadow.

Aria's heart raced, her mind telling her the implications of the sudden change.

It was happening again, she thought.

Her supernatural powers started stirring, as though responding to some unknown stimulus.

Then she realized, she wasn't alone into the room any longer.

There was someone else in the room with her, someone who doesn't belong there.

Her heart skipped as she turned to look for the intruder.

She turned her left, then she saw it, standing in the doorway of her apartment, a tall dark haired man with eyes like that of burning coal.

For some moment, Aria just stood there like a frozen image, uncertain of what's coming next.

Then she tried to move, to touch the man, but he vanished instantly into the thin air.

Aria was left standing in her room, perplexed, wondering if what she saw was real, or if it was just mere hallucinations.

But I know what I saw, she said to herself, I saw the man he was standing right here.

She went over to her laptop which was still open from last night. She sat down, scanning the screen, to find something that could possibly explain the strange occurrence.

She couldn't find anything, she became more terrified.

Suddenly a page popped up "How to control supernatural powers". It caught Aria's attention and she began to scroll down.

Aria kept scrolling till she found herself in another word, fillined with strange creatures, only she was different. All the creatures were crawling towards her, then she tried to scream but her voice was frozen in her throat.

All of a sudden, she found herself in the middle of them all, she turned left, then she saw him, the same darker haired man from her apartment.

Aria felt a sense of trepidation as the man began to walk towards her. She didn't know what he wanted, or what he was capable of.

But as he approached, Aria saw something in his eyes that gave her pause.

It was a glimmer of recognition, a sense of familiarity that seemed to go beyond the surface level.

And then, in an instant, Aria knew.

She knew that this man was connected to her past, to her mysterious encounters.

"Aria Flynn, you don't belong here," the dark man said.

What do you mean, Aria asked, confused of how the man knew her name.

"Your destiny is not here, the man continued, you need to leave here as soon as possible to a small town called lunar creek.

Aria's eyes widened, lunar creek, why?

The dark man smiled, because, Aria, lunar creek is a place of ancient powers. A place where the veil between the world is thin... And your mission is to remove the veil completely.

But I can't, Aria implied, I can't even control my own power.

You will be provided with everything you need when you get there.

Before Aria could ask further questions, the man vanished again leaving Aria to wonder what her entire life was made to be.
