It was a cold morning when I first met Dominic Kane. As a lawyer, I was used to tough cases, but nothing could prepare me for this one. Dominic was accused of murder-a crime so horrific that the evidence against him was seemingly irrefutable. Yet, there was something about him that didn't add up. His sharp grey eyes held a depth I couldn't quite place-a sense of mystery that lingered long after our first meeting.

Sitting across from him in my office, I tried to focus on the files before me, but all I could think about was his penetrating gaze. Was he guilty? Or was he a victim of circumstances? I had learned to keep my distance from clients-especially ones like Dominic-but with him, it was harder than I imagined.
