"The wolf doesn't know what it's lost until the moon refuses to guide it." Damien's rejection burned into Elena's soul, but it also ignited a fire she didn't know she had. Now, as she stands before the man who broke her, with secrets that could shatter his world, the question is: Will she grant him a second chance-or take him down with the empire he abandoned her for?

Chapter 1 THE MATE'S REJECTION

CHAPTER ONE:

THE MATE REJECTION

The hall buzzed with excitement as members of the Crescent Moon Pack gathered for the most anticipated event of the year-the Mating Ceremony. It was a night of fated connections, a night when bonds were forged that would shape the future of the pack. For Elena, however, it was a night she had dreamed of and dreaded in equal measure.

Dressed in a soft lavender gown that clung to her slender frame, Elena stood at the edge of the crowd, her hands trembling as she clutched the hem of her dress. Her heart pounded in her chest, her wolf pacing anxiously within her. Tonight was the night she would meet her mate. She had waited for this moment her entire life, clinging to the hope that her destined partner would see her worth, love her unconditionally, and protect her fiercely.

"Don't look so nervous," Clara, her best friend, whispered, nudging her lightly. "You'll make a beautiful Luna."

Elena tried to smile, but her lips faltered. The whispers and curious glances from the crowd felt like tiny needles pricking at her confidence. The Omega girl no one noticed was suddenly the center of attention, and it was overwhelming.

The room grew silent as Alpha Damien entered, his presence commanding and electrifying. The air seemed to shift around him, his dark, piercing eyes scanning the crowd. The weight of his authority settled over everyone like a heavy cloak. His aura was magnetic, and the sight of him stole Elena's breath.

Her wolf stirred, the bond snapping into place the moment his gaze met hers. Time froze, and everything else faded into insignificance.

*Mate.*

The word echoed in her mind, filling her with a mix of joy and terror. She could feel the bond pulling her toward him, her wolf urging her forward, but Damien's expression was unreadable.

As he walked toward her, the crowd parted, murmurs rippling through the room. Elena's heart soared. Was this real? Did the mighty Alpha Damien feel the same pull she did?

He stopped a few feet away from her, his eyes boring into hers. For a moment, she thought she saw a flicker of something-recognition, perhaps-but it vanished as quickly as it appeared.

"Elena," he said, his deep voice slicing through the silence.

Her name on his lips felt like a caress, but the next words he spoke shattered her world.

"I, Alpha Damien of the Crescent Moon Pack, reject you as my mate."

Gasps echoed through the room, followed by stunned silence. Elena's knees wobbled, her vision blurring as his words sank in.

"What?" she whispered, her voice trembling.

"You heard me," Damien said, his tone cold and unyielding. "I cannot accept you as my mate. My duty to this pack requires a Luna who can strengthen our alliances, and you are not that person."

Each word felt like a dagger to her chest. The crowd stared, their expressions a mixture of pity and shock. Elena fought to hold back the tears threatening to spill.

"Is this about Brielle?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Damien's jaw tightened, but he didn't answer. His silence spoke volumes.

Humiliated and heartbroken, Elena straightened her back, summoning every ounce of strength she had left.

"Very well, Alpha Damien," she said, her voice steady despite the pain tearing through her. "If this is your choice, then I accept your rejection."

She turned and walked out of the hall, her head held high, even as her heart crumbled with each step.

---

Outside, the cool night air hit her like a slap, but it wasn't enough to numb the ache in her chest. Tears streamed down her face as she stumbled away from the packhouse, her wolf howling in anguish.

She had lost everything in a single moment-the future she had dreamed of, the love she had hoped for.

And yet, as she stood under the moonlit sky, her fists clenched, a spark of determination ignited within her.

If Damien didn't want her, she would leave. She would carve out a life for herself far away from the Crescent Moon Pack.

She would never let anyone break her again.

Elena took one final glance at the packhouse, her hand subconsciously moved to her abdomen, a strange sensation fluttering within her. Something told her that this was not the end but the beginning of an entirely new chapter of her life.

I received a pornographic video. "Do you like this?" The man speaking in the video is my husband, Mark, whom I haven't seen for several months. He is naked, his shirt and pants scattered on the ground, thrusting forcefully on a woman whose face I can't see, her plump and round breasts bouncing vigorously. I can clearly hear the slapping sounds in the video, mixed with lustful moans and grunts. "Yes, yes, fuck me hard, baby," the woman screams ecstatically in response. "You naughty girl!" Mark stands up and flips her over, slapping her buttocks as he speaks. "Stick your ass up!" The woman giggles, turns around, sways her buttocks, and kneels on the bed. I feel like someone has poured a bucket of ice water on my head. It's bad enough that my husband is having an affair, but what's worse is that the other woman is my own sister, Bella. ************************************************************************************************************************ "I want to get a divorce, Mark," I repeated myself in case he didn't hear me the first time-even though I knew he'd heard me clearly. He stared at me with a frown before answering coldly, "It's not up to you! I'm very busy, don't waste my time with such boring topics, or try to attract my attention!" The last thing I was going to do was argue or bicker with him. "I will have the lawyer send you the divorce agreement," was all I said, as calmly as I could muster. He didn't even say another word after that and just went through the door he'd been standing in front of, slamming it harshly behind him. My eyes lingered on the knob of the door a bit absentmindedly before I pulled the wedding ring off my finger and placed it on the table. I grabbed my suitcase, which I'd already had my things packed in and headed out of the house.

My world revolved around Jax Harding, my older brother's captivating rockstar friend. From sixteen, I adored him; at eighteen, I clung to his casual promise: "When you're 22, maybe I'll settle down." That offhand comment became my life's beacon, guiding every choice, meticulously planning my twenty-second birthday as our destiny. But on that pivotal day in a Lower East Side bar, clutching my gift, my dream exploded. I overheard Jax' s cold voice: "Can't believe Savvy's showing up. She' s still hung up on that stupid thing I said." Then the crushing plot: "We' re gonna tell Savvy I' m engaged to Chloe, maybe even hint she' s pregnant. That should scare her off." My gift, my future, slipped from my numb fingers. I fled into the cold New York rain, devastated by betrayal. Later, Jax introduced Chloe as his "fiancée" while his bandmates mocked my "adorable crush"-he did nothing. As an art installation fell, he saved Chloe, abandoning me to severe injury. In the hospital, he came for "damage control," then shockingly shoved me into a fountain, leaving me to bleed, calling me a "jealous psycho." How could the man I loved, who once saved me, become this cruel and publicly humiliate me? Why was my devotion seen as an annoyance to be brutally extinguished with lies and assault? Was I just a problem, my loyalty met with hatred? I would not be his victim. Injured and betrayed, I made an unshakeable vow: I was done. I blocked his number and everyone connected to him, severing ties. This was not an escape; this was my rebirth. Florence awaited, a new life on my terms, unburdened by broken promises.
