Finally willing to come back! His hand slowly glided over my shoulder, all the way to the hair behind my ear! I felt as though I was about to go limp all over, but I suddenly snapped back to consciousness!

Chapter 1 Take A Deep Breath

Clayton Warren's eyes, with a tenderness in their gaze, gently drifted across my face. His arms, as if yearning to enfold me in an embrace, presented a warmth that was like a spring stream, into which I could easily lose myself.

This man, who had lingered in my dreams for a full seven years, had at long last made his way back! His hand slowly glided across my shoulder and then reached the strands of hair behind my ear.

I felt as if I were on the verge of collapsing, but all of a sudden, I jerked myself back to reality.

No, I couldn't let this happen! I quickly turned around, with my back to him, and took two steps forward.

I opened my eyes and glanced at the clock; it was only five in the morning.

My head throbbed painfully, as it always did after waking from such dreams, leaving my body feeling as if it had been pierced by needles.

I reached into the drawer for some calming pills and swallowed a few.

I patted my head, trying to erase the images of the dream, but no matter how hard I tried, his image only grew clearer, and my thoughts tangled in complexity.

I got up and walked into the closet, my mind in turmoil. I was about to see him! I was about to see him! Regardless, I needed to choose an outfit first.

But as I paced back and forth, I stopped in front of the wig. It was Clayton's favorite-long, straight, and black. I carefully put it on, looking at myself in the mirror, as lovely as a spring blossom, as pure as a winter's first snow.

Wasn't this the face everyone envied? But so what?

I slowly removed the wig, gripping the jade ring around my neck tightly. Its emerald green was so clear and beautiful, yet it had left me in this state, with most of my hair gone, looking as if I were gravely ill-so ridiculous and ugly. If I hadn't already adapted to this scene, how could my heart bear it?

Life is truly ironic, giving me talent and beauty, yet not forgetting to leave me with some flaws!

No, I, Cathryn Saunders, a renowned beauty in the translation world, was someone everyone envies and admires! I refused to be like this!

Morning, eight o'clock, inside Crypticorps.

I stood at the door of Clayton's office, nervously adjusting my hair. What had to come, came. Cathryn wasn't afraid!

I took a deep breath and knocked on the door.

When I heard the words "Come in," my heart tightened. That familiar voice now carried a hint of maturity and depth. I mustered the courage to push open the door, trying hard to maintain a forced smile.

The deep blue figure slowly turned to face me, and at that moment, our eyes met.

Seven years! The man I had waited for seven years was right in front of me, yet I could only pretend to be calm.

"Cathryn, I heard the cases you took on were completed excellently. You won the grand slam at the translation competition again. Having a translator like you at Crypticorps makes me very pleased!"

I stared blankly at the person before me, his gentle eyes framed by fluttering lashes, his face still breathtakingly handsome.

But I quickly regained my composure. "Cathryn, stay calm!" I reminded myself.

"You flatter me. I was just doing my job!" Besides feigning calmness, I didn't know how to handle this heart-stirring scene.

"I've arranged a meeting with Kibeood this afternoon. They want all their travel products translated into English. You should come and listen. Also, there's a celebration dinner for you tonight at Crypticorps." His tone was light, yet it overflowed with a warmth that touched the soul, accompanied by a heartwarming smile.

"Alright, if there's nothing else, I'll be going!" I was about to exhale and relax, but that magnetic pull drew me back in.

"Wait a moment!"

I Slapped My Fiancé-Then Married His Billionaire Nemesis

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé. Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now-billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn't mind. I'd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one? Wrong. One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That's when it hit me-he didn't love me. He didn't even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn't even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup. So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster-my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise. Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol. Enter him. Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I'd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes. It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised. But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life. And, as it turned out, the best decision I'd ever made. Because my one-night stand isn't just some random guy. He's richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with. And now, he's not letting me go.
