Chapter 1 Last of Her Kind

Get Her!....

Where's She?....

Those were the sounds and snares at Lia's heels. She stepped on a branch, which broke sharply and stunned her. Suddenly, her heartbeat quickened like that of an antelope being hunted by wolves. She turned back, searching for blackness. The stillness became frightening with the impression that unseen eyes stared at her from darkness.

After holding her breath, Lia went racing again. A frantic rhythm was produced from her tiny feet. Darkness wrapped itself around her. Moving was the only way she knew she could escape death.

"Find her!!! She must not escape!!" A loud groan was heard from afar. Lia bit her lips as she shut her lips with her palm, trying to shut herself down, but her fear got the best of her. She sat there, her head in disorientation, tears escaped her eyes. She looked like one who had just seen a ghost. Despite all that had happened, the only thing that crossed her mind was for her to get over this nightmare and return to her old life like nothing had happened.

Her body was covered in blood, she was the last of her kind, and with deep sacrifice, she had to leave one the legacy. Her eyes tried to bat the fear away but all to no avail.

"I'm sorry...I'm.." her voice broke down, as she let the tears fall freely down her eyes, the tears felt real and her last. Seated behind the tree bark which at the time served as her only source of protection, she lifted her eyes up to the night sky, the Moon set in its glory, radiating through the earth. She felt immense pain, but this wasn't the time for transformation. She had not successfully learned the ways of her kind.

"Find her!!! We cannot return until we have her dead or alive!!!!" She heard from afar, their voices growing close, she had to leave there one way or another.

She looked at her torn ball dress. It was given to her by her father. Today was supposed to be the happiest day of her life. She was getting married to the love of her life, but now it seemed like she had turned a widow even before her mate could be with her, and it was all her fault. Her mind flashed back to what happened earlier. With her bare hands, she had carried his oozing bloody body.

Her wedding gown was soaked in red, it was a bloodbath. She was not the kindest to know this was the end, but regardless, she had to keep pushing.

The sky thundered, as the clouds formed a bolus of condensed water ready to pour down.

Flashes of touches were summoned close, she gently stood up, her hair was messy from the neat bun she had earlier, with her lips laced in fear, she stood up sneakingly walking into the woods, her eyes casting their gaze behind. The clouds opened up its mouth as it let out its downpour, it began like soft small droplets of water. Now it was a basket of water falling vigorously, the wind blowing east side,

She ran through the cold with her hand, hitting the spikes of the trees. She was tired.

Panting under the rain, she was drenched in the cold, she turned back, her eyes saw her packed up in flames, everything burning to the ground, it was devastating, her hands went to her necklace, her voice broke as she said,

"I'll be back for you all, I promise that." She then turned to leave. She was the Latina, the princess of the Stoneheart Pack. She was a disgrace, a failure, and the one who let her people down.

She shuddered in the cold when the rain increased its momentum. Sitting under the tree bark. She knew her men were not leaving until they combed this forest, but she knew the forest better than them,

"Run.....R....un..... And no, do not let them cat...ch y..ou" His dying words flashed to her once more. She bared him in her arms. Her father, mother, brother, and youngest sister were all lying down in the pool of their own blood.

Her hands shivered, she took a deep breath before wrapping her arms around herself. She heard a loud howl from afar. She held Princeton. He was already on the verge of dying.

"Prince....ton" Her voice broke down as she held him by the neck gently, his eyes hit hers, and then let out a painful smile.

"You're safe ....." he said, his voice laced with weakness, her eyes clouded in tears as she watched the only man she ever loved drift away slowly into the cold hands of death.

"Princeton.... I'm sorry" she breathed out, her voice almost like a whisper, she let her tears fall freely hitting his face, and she sniffed the snot back into her nose.

Princeton walked to her, lifting his hand and cupping her face, her face stained in his blood, he let out a smile before saying,

"I love you.....m..." he said, then shut his eyes, her world crumbled, and she held him close to her.

"Prince...ton," Lia's hand shook in fear, as she couldn't tell if he was still breathing or not. She knew if she didn't run, she would be in trouble as the loud howl was closer.

She stood up, wiping her tears as she wore her hooded robe, dashing off to the woods, sensing her movement as they rushed after her.

One thing she knew was that Princeton could never die in that way. "He will come for me," she thought to herself, running as fast as her legs could go, hyperventilating, as fear took over her.
