Tessa is beautiful, Tessa is smart, Tessa is the dream of every man. But Tessa is sick and no prince wants to marry her. Tessa fell in love with a man she isn't meant to be with for the first time in her life. Someone as fragile as glass was picked to fight the war. For the first time in her 18 years of being alive, Tessa isn't sick...Tessa saw her look alike,Tessa saw her yang.
Her brown hair was spread on the bed she laid looking like a true princess in a fairy tale with her flushed cheeks and pink lips which she had to part to let out air as sweat slid down her forehead.
"Be a good girl for mummy Tessa, it would all be over soon" she could hear a distant yet close voice say and she couldn't help but blink, her vision was hazy and she could see nothing clearly not even a little bit.
Tessa shut her eyes as she could feel the liquid substance travel all the way from her hand to light up her weak heart, she felt on fire and about to burn to ashes, her mouth parted to let out a silent screen.
Her white porcelain skin contrasting with the black bedsheets. She felt so much pain her body convulsed yet she knew she had to take the liquid in, that was the only way to add to her remaining years.
With a body like hers it's a miracle she survived till the age of eighteen.
Finally, she passed out shutting out the pain.
Tessa's eyes fluttered open and she turned her head to check the date on the wall. It's the day of the prophecy, the day when the prophecy would be read out about who was going to save them all.
The day every maiden in the country awaits as the person chosen would be taken care of by the king and queen and trained till the day of the battle.
A war of over five hundred years is about to start again, the cycle would always be repeated every five hundred years and they happened to be in the middle of the cross-fire.
Only a female could be chosen as the bearer of the weight and some people even though they didn't want to, were forced to save the country.
Now maids walked into Tessa's room pulling open the curtains then turning around to bow at the beautiful but weak looking princess.
"Today is the day of the prophecy reading, would you like to watch princess?"
Tessa nodded very lightly, she wasn't there because of the position of the maiden but because she couldn't help but want to see the beautiful ladies and their attires, she wanted to be among and dance like them.
The maids seeing she approved sprung to action and carried her weak body off the bed, the bath was a medicinal bath which would bring a little life back to her tired body and turn her already pale cheeks and lips rosy again.
Dipping her gently into the bath everyone rushed to do their things, like the maid who picked a cloth she would wear and the other who assisted her in scrubbing her body after some minutes of soaking.
Now she looked more beautiful that before, even the maids could help but look at her with envy, but the envy wasn't strong enough to have the urge to kill her as the loved the kind but weak Tessa.
"Are some princes going to be there Stella" asked Tessa who finally got her voice back after the medicinal bath.
"No princess it's just the princesses and maidens"
"Have you ever wondered if you would be the chosen one" Tessa inquired again, she longed for a life out there yet she was stuck in here.
"No princess, but if I am chosen I'd have to adapt to the changes"
"You don't seem happy, don't you want the role?, Doesn't every female want the role"
"Princess not everyone, I have a family to feed, though I know the royal family would take care of mine but I can't die in the battlefield, I have to keep getting money to send to my family. They don't care about the money, as long as I'm alive they are fine, but the moment I lose my life, I'm scared they won't be the same without me so I'd wish to stay"
"You really are kind"
"No the princess is more kind and beautiful"
Yes that's the truth, the amount of men coming to court this beauty in a day are many yet they turn around after hearing about her sickness.
Her clothes weren't too tight after all her tummy was already so flat and beautiful. Always wearing the color white.
"Ah, Stella when would Adele be here?"
"The letter was brought in by her bird saying it would take her two weeks, so your cousin should be here in two weeks princess" Stella finally tied the last knot of the beautiful gown and stepped back to admire to the young lady.
Stella has always been suprised about her beauty, especially her pale skin and long black wavy hair adding to her touch of innocence.
How could something this pure and innocent be at death's door even after offending no one. Maybe she killed an entire nation in her past life but it still wasn't fair.
Tessa puffed out her cheeks twirling slowly at the front of the mirror.
"Madam that is not lady like, release your breath and seat for a while so I could go get your food else if your mother sees you twirling this way I'm afraid she'd call in the governess you dislike again.
"That's true, I'll eat at the table today" Tessa said quickly before moving slowly downstairs.
Even though she tried to hide it, her body still swayed lightly, indicating she wasn't as fine as she appeared to be.
"My king, my queen" Stella bowed before letting Tessa into the dining room and shutting the door.
"Come over here to seat" Emilia gestured for her daughter to seat beside her as it's been long since she had a meal on the table.
Just as Tessa walked towards her she heard her father's stern voice.
"Sit where you are supposed to seat" Tessa footsteps stopped and her hand clutched her gown tightly.
"Yes father"
