She looked at Jace with passion and put on a wicked smile.
"Mr. Clayton has finally met his match. With such an elegant and noble fiancée by his side, you'd better cherish her. Don't be as rude and nonchalant as you were with me."

With a contorted face, she said, "I can be a fair lady of good manner if necessary. But as the old saying goes, 'Manner makes man and humour makes wife.'"
She wore a doll dress with clown makeup tonight, which seemed to refer to the grace of her dress-up from where she stood.
Someone from the crowd laughed and shouted, "Ms. Hayes, please don't laugh at her. Milly has an amusing nature and always refreshes the atmosphere."
"Yeah, she's really funny. Milly, stop messing around, or you'll smudge her makeup with your frog head!"
"How about giving a show as a gift to our new director? Come on, Milly, don't you have a good command of the ballad?"
A group of male colleagues egged her on, making the atmosphere even more lively, albeit in an unexpected direction.
Someone was actually about to switch the music.
Jace pulled Milly's frog head aside and said to me, "Olivia, she means no harm. She's trying to be hospitable in her way. If you don't like it, I'll ask her to stop."
I took a look to surrounds and smiled, "It's totally fine. Milly is just trying to liven up the party. Look how happy everyone is. Let's give her a bonus as a reward later."
As soon as I said this, Milly's face turned sour, and she mouthed curses in our direction in a distorted expression.
Upon learning that I didn't mind, Jace nodded, "Alright, it's your call then."
Milly made a playful, mock-angry face, baring her teeth and making squeaky noises like a threatened cub, which entertained everyone.
Only I noticed her hands were straight and clenched tightly, twisting her pants into deep spirals.
I linked arms with Jace to toast the guests, exchanging laughter and blessing, feeling content.
Milly would never know that I came from a prestigious family and had an unparalleled ability to see through pretenses.
