After my family went bankrupt, my boyfriend vanished on me. I searched for him for a few days and finally found him at a bar near our school. He was there, wrapped around a younger girl from elementary school. They were being extremely affectionate with each other. My boyfriend said to his friends, "[The young lady from an elite family is quite the player; who knows how many men she's been with? I don't want to be the one left picking up the pieces.]" In front of everyone, I tore apart his little fling and completely broke up with him. Later, he saw intimate pictures of me with a younger guy and came crying to my house, begging to get back together. The guy who answered the door had hickeys on his neck. "[Looking for Yan Yan?... She's busy right now.]"

Chapter 1

After my family went bankrupt, my boyfriend vanished without a trace. I searched for him for days before finally finding him at a bar near the school. There he was, wrapped around a younger girl, both of them looking very cozy.

My boyfriend was bragging to his friends, "The young ladies from high society are so wild. Who knows how many men she's been with? I don't want to be the cuckold."

I publicly tore into his little fling and broke up with him for good.

Later, when he saw photos of me with a younger guy, he came crying to my house, begging to get back together.

The guy who answered the door had a fresh hickey on his neck.

"Looking for Corynn? She's busy now."

The Reed Family in Yushoyye went bankrupt overnight, causing a sensation throughout the city.

It had been a week since I received the news, and my boyfriend hadn't contacted me since my family went bankrupt. Unwilling to let it go, I decided to find him and get some answers. Three days later, I finally spotted him at a bar near the school.

Through the door of a private room, I saw him drinking intimately, mouth-to-mouth, with his younger girlfriend.

His friends asked him, "Jace, we heard your girlfriend has been looking for you for days."

"She was dying of anxiety. Aren't you really going to see her?"

Jace chuckled, a look of disdain on his face. "The young ladies from high society are so wild. Who knows how many men she's been with? I don't want to be the cuckold. If it weren't for the fact that she is somewhat pretty and comes from a wealthy family, who would be willing to court her?"

I turned pale, clenching my fists at my sides. I never imagined such humiliating words would come from his mouth.

The people in the room exchanged glances, understanding the situation.

"Jace, you've really got it made, landing a rich and beautiful woman!"

Jace basked in their compliments, tilting the chin of the woman in his arms. "Baby, come home with me tonight. I'll teach you some naughty things..."

The woman, flushed from the alcohol, sat astride Jace's lap, her eyes glazed.

"Jace... I feel so uncomfortable..."

Jace was into this type. He held the woman's waist tightly and kissed her passionately. "Little minx, always seducing me."

Unable to bear it any longer, I kicked open the door and stormed in with my purse.

Jace's smile vanished as he instinctively pushed the woman off his lap. "Baby, you're here."

Without a word, I swung my purse at his face. "You make me feel disgusted!"

Thinking back on their behavior, I realized how blind I had been. I never expected him to be such a fraud.

Jace, feeling humiliated in public, was very unhappy and he grabbed my wrist. "Have you had enough?"

I laughed bitterly, "Shouldn't I be asking you that? You put on such a show of affection, but as soon as I went bankrupt, you couldn't wait to get cozy with your little lover? At least you should have pretended to break up with me!"

Everyone around us backed away in fear, except for Jace's little lover, who stood in front of me, biting her lip and looking scared.

"Miss Reed, blame me, not Jace. I seduced him. He couldn't control himself after drinking..."

I smiled at her, "So you just offered your lips, huh?" I splashed a glass of wine in her face.

"You're so young, but you sat on another woman's boyfriend to seduce him. Do your parents know that you're out here being a mistress? Should I take a couple of pictures of you and post them online? After all, you have to trust big data. Maybe your mother will come across these pictures of you one day?"

The woman burst into tears, and Jace couldn't stand it anymore. He pulled her into his arms.

"Corynn, when it comes to some things, going too far will make people loathe you. If you apologize now, maybe I'll consider not breaking up with you, for the sake of our past."

Jace was confident, thinking I was just throwing a tantrum.

I looked at him, bewildered. "Do you even hear what you're saying?"

Jace deliberately kissed the woman in his arms. "If you don't apologize, I'll have to break up with you. There are plenty of fish in the sea; I don't need you."

"Then let's break up. I don't need you either."

I brushed off the wine splashes on me, unfazed.

Jace didn't expect me to agree. His face darkened. "Corynn, don't regret this. If you walk out of this door, even if you come to beg me to get back with you later, I won't give you that opportunity anymore!"

My world revolved around Jax Harding, my older brother's captivating rockstar friend. From sixteen, I adored him; at eighteen, I clung to his casual promise: "When you're 22, maybe I'll settle down." That offhand comment became my life's beacon, guiding every choice, meticulously planning my twenty-second birthday as our destiny. But on that pivotal day in a Lower East Side bar, clutching my gift, my dream exploded. I overheard Jax' s cold voice: "Can't believe Savvy's showing up. She' s still hung up on that stupid thing I said." Then the crushing plot: "We' re gonna tell Savvy I' m engaged to Chloe, maybe even hint she' s pregnant. That should scare her off." My gift, my future, slipped from my numb fingers. I fled into the cold New York rain, devastated by betrayal. Later, Jax introduced Chloe as his "fiancée" while his bandmates mocked my "adorable crush"-he did nothing. As an art installation fell, he saved Chloe, abandoning me to severe injury. In the hospital, he came for "damage control," then shockingly shoved me into a fountain, leaving me to bleed, calling me a "jealous psycho." How could the man I loved, who once saved me, become this cruel and publicly humiliate me? Why was my devotion seen as an annoyance to be brutally extinguished with lies and assault? Was I just a problem, my loyalty met with hatred? I would not be his victim. Injured and betrayed, I made an unshakeable vow: I was done. I blocked his number and everyone connected to him, severing ties. This was not an escape; this was my rebirth. Florence awaited, a new life on my terms, unburdened by broken promises.
