Xia Yu was in despair as she looked upon the sacarstic and mocking smile on her fiance and best friend's faces as they watched her being tortured.

Qin Bai was a year older than her, they met on her 18th birthday. Her best friend planned a surprise birthday party and invited a few people to the party. Since Xia Yu didn't have any friends, the guests were her best friend's friends.
At first Qin Bai started by talking and just casually being friends, later he became more brazen and started pursuing her until she finally accepted.
He was kind, caring and overly doting on her, coupled with the fact that her best friend always praised him Everytime, Xia Yu naturally became saucy and spoilt. She totally forgot who she really was.

"You did nothing wrong, you were just too naive, your adoptive dad tried to marry you off to that rich but sickly and useless young master two years after you got together with Qin Bai, you stupidly refused. You could have become a rich heiress and be safe in a luxurious bunker right now instead of suffering but no you were in "love" with someone else's man, hahaha how pathetic."Yang Ling smiled innocently

Two armed men dragged Xia Yu,cut off her hands, legs and tongue. They then threw her into the open roads. The zombies near by perceived blood and ate her up bit by bit while Xia Yu was awake to feel the torture and all she wished was to die.
Her eyes burned with fury and hatred for those who betrayed her.

In a shabby room on a worn out bed laid a young girl motionless, she looked lifeless, her face acne and looked like all the blood had been sucked from her leaving her pale, dry and lifeless.
The lifeless young girl suddenly opened up her eyes, her eyes were shining brightly contrast to her pale face and sickly body.

Xia Yu looked around the room which gave her a sense of long lost familiarity.
She got down from the bed, and subconsciously walked towards the mirror.

She was relieved to know that she was really alive, the first thing she did was take a bath, get dressed and then she started planning how to prepare and survive the apocalypse.

She decided to go out, just in case she could find an answer.
The air was refreshing, Xia Yu was grateful to be able to breathe in fresh air unlike during the apocalypse, the air was filled with blood, death, famine, hunger and suffering.
Xia Yu remembered the day the apocalypse started, the night before the apocalypse was covered in brightly colored sky, the sky looked like that of an aurora little by little it started to drizzle, what was supposed to be a beautiful and wonderful sight became one of horror and fright. The drizzle was not a normal one, just like the sky,the drizzle was weird, it was dark red giving people the feel of disaster. When everyone woke up the next morning, chaos descended as those who were curious or unafraid of the weird coloured sky and rain the previous night got affected.
Within an hour over a hundred people were biten and infected, they all became zombies. There was only one positive side to the apocalypse, every person who was unaffected got powers of different types.
The apocalypse came without warning and so people were unprepared for it. Those who had little food were either raided or killed and their supply stolen. At that time true human nature was revealed as people killed and ate people. Families sold families for a loaf of bread. It was truly the end of the world.
After a few years people discovered that by degutting zombies, they could get powered orbs which could be used to upgrade the ability of a person. The orbs later became a commodity, people sold powered orbs for food. The higher the power of the orb the better quality of food, it was also used to get everything food, shelter, clothing, ammunition and protection.
