Chapter 1 Help
A girl was standing in the middle of the street, with both her hands clasped together in a stormy night, crying for help, "Someone please help us, Someone please help us."
She was running after every oncoming vehicles on the road at midnight in order to get the help but everyone was ignoring her as if she never existed for them.
Since it was midnight, very few vehicles were visible and on top of that, the rain was at its worst, due to which everyone was in a hurry to go home as the condition was about to get even worst as the black clouds covered the sky which were visible only when thunderstorms fell on the ground and filled the whole place with light for fraction of seconds
The girl was exhausted and started panting by keeping bith her hands on her knees after not getting any help even after trying so hard for a while. Just then a car stopped right in front of her because of which the girl got startled and fell backwards.
The car's flash light was so bright that the girl placed her hand in front of her eyes.
The driver of the car, fearing something untoward, got out of the car and came to the girl. He picked her up with a question, "Are you okay? I hope you are not hurt?"
When the girl heard his voice, she quickly caught his hand. Then she said in a hurry, "Sir... please help us, my brother is hurt. Please sir, help us. The hospital is nearby, please help us or else I'll loose him"
Her teary eyes were still visible even under the heavy rainfall due to the headlights of the car which fell directly on her face
The man now looked at the girl's hand because she was holding his hand as her touch made him feel a very old and familiar touch which he couldn't recall at the moment
The girl saw him lost and shook his hand again and requested, "Sir, please help us."
When she again waved his hand, the man again came back to reality and he quickly looked at her and said, "Okay, I'll help you, but where is your brother?"
Without wasting any time the girl pointed one one side of the road and said, "There he is"
Soon after that the man helped the girl's brother sit in the backseat of the car. The girl also sat next to her brother and sat with his head on her lap with the man starting the car.
The girl's brother's name was Alex, but the girl lovingly called him A. He was 18 years old and a college student. Someone had beaten him brutally as his entire body was covered in bruises and was bleeding.
The girl patted his cheek and said, "Alex, open your eyes, nothing will happen to you. We are about to reach the hospital soon"
But she did not get any response from his brother because he was unconscious. After which she looked looked at the man who was driving and request, "Sir please drive a little faster."
The man who was looking at the girl in the rear view mirror for a long time, came to his senses after hearing her and he said, "Yes, we are just about to reach the hospital."
After about 10 minutes they entered the hospital campus and the woman got out of the car. Then the man also came out and helped the girl's brother to get out of the car.
The two ward boys who were standing at the gate while having there refreshment tea break saw this and quickly came forward to help and took his brother on the stretcher.
The girl also started to follow him but then she remembered something. She turned back to see the man who had helped bring her brother to the hospital. Whereas, the man who just stood behind her put his coat on the girl's shoulder and walked towards the lift as she was shivering due to cold because of which she couldn't even thank him properly.
She now said to herself, "I could not even thank him. He helped us even without knowing us. Thank you Jesus for sending him to help us"
About half an hour later, the girl was sitting on a bench outside the OT waiting for the doctor to come out as she was informed by one of the nurse in the hospital that the operation of Alex was going on inside.
The girl took off her coat and kept it on the bench as by this time her clothes had dried a little but she was still shivering with cold.
After some time a doctor came out of the OT and said, "Who is from the patient's family here?"
The girl came to the doctor and said, "Yes, I am his elder sister. Is my brother alright, Doctor?"
When the doctor saw her, he recognized her at once. He looked at her carefully and said, "You are an intern in the neurosurgical department, right? I think your name is Sarah."
Hearing this the girl nodded yes with her head movement
Sarah was a normal girl living in New York City whose age was 25 years. She was an intern in the Neurology department in the same hospital named St. Thomas Hospital and Research Center.
She was wearing a white dress with the same coloured scarf swinging around her neck which was clinging to her perfect body due to getting wet in the rain.
While her deep blue eyes were looking like a mysterious lake in gold with her beautiful silky hairs stretched till her waist and there was a worried expression on her face, but that didn't effected her beauty at all
The doctor further said, "Then you can understand his situation very well. Look, your brother's head has been hit very hard by something due to which there has been a lot of bleeding. There is a lot of damage to the brain as well, so we will have to do brain surgery as soon as possible. You understand, right, if we do not stop the bleeding, we will not be able to save your brother"
Listening to the doctor's heart wrenching words Sarah asked impatiently, "What are you waiting for doctor? Please start the surgery of my brother."
The doctor said, "We will start the surgery but before that you have to deposit the fees as you must be aware of how expensive this surgery is."
Sarah nodded and asked, "How much will the operation cost?"
The doctor said,"$80,000 for the surgery and $20,000 for the remaining stay till recovery. A total of $1,00,000 will have to be deposited."
The words coming out of the doctor's mouth shook the world for Sarah and out of shock she just sat on the very same place where she was sitting a while ago
