What will happen when Frank, a werewolf who comes into the human world for the first time in search of a cure for his mother's illness meets Lisa, an ordinary human and they fall in love? Will their love thrive amid all the challenges they face, especially from Fred, Frank's twin brother who is out to separate them at any cost and kill Frank?

Chapter 1 The evening bloodshed

Frank's POV:

We numbered 100 in total. My father, the Alpha, my mum, myself, and 97 other members of our pack. We had gathered in the Sax woods for a decisive battle with a troublesome pack, the Chenzi.

Today will decide the victor of the long-drawn dispute between us over the Safeyah cave; a sacred and powerful cave discovered by an ancestor of the Chenzi pack millions of years ago but is now owned by my pack and also resides in our territory.

You know, over here in South Riselands, the pack who is the owner of the sacred cave is viewed as the most powerful pack in this region and our pack, the Temson has held this enviable position for some hundreds of years, beginning from the time of my great great grandfather as I was told.

Now, Chenzi wants to take ownership but we won't let that happen. Tonight, we teach them a lesson and add their destruction to our trophy shelf.

"Temson pack!!!", my father, the Alpha, Arthur roared.

"Yes Alpha!!!" we chorused in response.

"Today, we fight and defend our position and our property from the Chenzi pack. We prove why we are the Authority of South Riselands!"

"Yes Alpha!"

"It will be a shame if we lose this battle. Because losing it means losing everything." my mum, the Luna spoke.

"We are ready mum, dad" I said in response.

My parents smiled at me and other members of our pack and asked us to get into positions for battle.

I could hear the footsteps of the approaching Chenzi pack. My heart raced in eager anticipation for battle. Suddenly, there was silence. I couldn't hear any more footsteps.

I did a quick 360-degree survey around us with my eyes in anticipation of anything. And sure enough, it happened. An ambush!

Members of the Chenzi pack jumped out from within the bushes. We were not taken by surprise. We were expecting such from them.

As I fought, I counted how many Chenzi were present and I estimated a little above seventy.

I had not shifted into my wolf form yet. I was fighting in my human form. Skulls were knocked off, flesh ripped apart, and blood flowing on the ground of the virgin Sax woods. We were winning as I expected.

But then I heard my mom scream. So loud was her scream. I turned to find her and saw her struggling with a Chenzi pack member.

I raced madly towards her. Also racing towards her was my dad, the Alpha. I shifted immediately into my wolf form and tore the head of the assailant off his body.

I held my mum and noticed that she had been seriously injured. Her arm seemed to be falling off from her shoulder.

"Take her home son. Call the doctor. I will finish up here." my dad said.

I nodded and he put my mum who was groaning in pain on my back and I zoomed off followed by a few members of my pack for my and the Luna's safety.

I had mindlinked my sister, Alice while rushing home with my mum to call the doctor. She had stayed at home to help in protecting the house and our people at home while we went to war.

When I got home, I carried my mum quickly into her room and got to applying first aid to her wounds. My sister was panicking and scared and crying. I tried my best to manage the situation.

"Shhhh Alice. Don't cry. Mother will be fine." I said trying to console my sister.

"Those stupid Chenzis! Father better make sure that he leaves none of them alive." Alice moaned in anger.

"It's okay."

The doctor arrived and was led upstairs to mother's room.

"Good afternoon sir... Doc" my sister and I greeted the doctor at the same time.

"Good afternoon Frank, Alice." he said looking over at our mother.

"What happened to our Luna?"

"She was injured during the battle with the Chenzis. Her arm was almost ripped off from her shoulder blade."

"It's fine. I will take it from here. Nurses,..." Doctor Peter said as he and his attendants moved over to my mom to treat her.

I asked my sister to leave the room while I stayed back to watch over my mum and the doctors. Having my sister crying and cursing at the Chenzis would have been a distraction to the doctor and even to me; hence I asked her to leave. I can't deal with my worry and also with hers at the same time.

Sometime later, my father came back home with his troops, victorious as I expected and the doctor finished treating my mother.

"Doctor, she will be fine right?" I asked the doctor when he seemed to have finished treating my mother.

"Hmmmm The arm injury was a very serious one. She also had minor injuries in other places. But I have done what I can and what can be done. She is a werewolf; so I expect her to be completely fine in a few days ok?"

"Thank you, Doctor." I said grateful.

As I proceeded to walk the doctor and his attendants out of the room, my father came in. He was looking so worried, anxious, and scared for mother.

"How is she? Son? Doctor? How is Salma?" my dad said worried, looking at my mother whose right arm was hidden in bandages.

"Dad, mum is fine. She just needs some time to rest and she will fully recover." I said holding my dad affectionately on his shoulder.

"Is that right Doc?"

"Yes Alpha. Our Luna will be fine."

My dad sighed, thanked the doctor and his crew, and asked me to see them off while he stayed with my mum.

"You're a creepy bastard." His eyes smolder me and his answering grin is nothing short of beautiful. Deadly. "Yet you hunger for me. Tell me, this appetite of yours, does it always tend toward 'creepy bastards'?" **** Widower and ex-boss to the Mafia, Zefiro Della Rocca, has an unhealthy fixation on the woman nextdoor. It began as a coincidence, growing into mere curiosity, and soon, it was an itch he couldn't ignore, like a quick fix of crack for an addict. He didn't know her name, but he knew every inch of her skin, how it flushed when she climaxed, her favourite novel and that every night she contemplated suicide. He didn't want to care, despising his rapt fascination of the woman. She was in love with her abusive husband. She was married, bound by a contract to the Bratva's hitman. She was off-limits. But when Zefiro wanted something, it was with an intensity that bordered on madness. He obsessed, possessed, owned. There'd be bloodshed if he touched her, but the sight of blood always did fascinate him. * When Susanna flees from her husband, she stumbles right into the arms of her devilishly handsome neighbour with a brooding glare. He couldn't stand her, but she needed him, if she was ever going to escape her husband who now wanted her dead. Better the devil you know than the angel you don't. She should have recalled that before hopping into Zefiro's car and letting him whisk her away to Italy. Maybe then, she wouldn't have started an affair with him. He was the only man who touched her right, and the crazy man took no small pains in ensuring he would be the last.
