When billionaire CEO Ryan Thompson is forced into a marriage by his father, he is less than thrilled to be tied down to any woman but he decided to choose, a woman he barely knows. But as they navigate their arranged union, Ryan begins to see Nina in a different light as they both began to fall in love with each other. Things between them begins to fall apart when Ryan's ex girlfriend became pregnant.
It was a nice morning around 8am when I woke up feeling great, my mom and my sisters were in the kitchen making something for us to eat.
As they served the food, we sat at the dining and watched some news. But then my mom spoke up "That's Ryan lawson" she said with a smile
I didnt even look at the television instead I continued eating.
My father smiled and gazed at my mom "How do you know Ryan Thompson?" He asked
"Who wouldn't know the richest son of the Thompson family" she asked
"Your daughter doesn't" My father chuckled and gazed at me. "Yes, our daughter doesn't seem to care about the wealthy and famous."
I shrugged, taking another bite of my food. "I have better things to worry about than who's who in the rich and famous crowd and besides I don't even know who he is."
My mom smiled, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "Well, you might want to start paying attention. Ryan Thompson is not just anyone."
I raised an eyebrow, curious despite myself. "What do you mean?"
My mom leaned in, a conspiratorial look on her face. "I heard he's looking for a wife. And not just any wife, but a contract wife."
My sisters and I exchanged skeptical glances.
"What's a contract wife?" Kira asked.
My mom leaned back in her chair, a sly smile spreading across her face. "Apparently, he needs a wife to secure a business deal. And he's willing to pay top dollar for it."
I rolled my eyes, unimpressed. "So, he's looking for a gold digger. How original, very smart of him."
My mom's smile faltered, and she looked at me sternly. "Don't be so quick to judge, dear. This could be an opportunity of a lifetime."
I raised an eyebrow, intrigued despite myself. "For who? And what do you mean by that?"
My mom leaned forward, her eyes shining with excitement. "I think you should consider marrying him. Just think of the benefits - financial security, social status, and who knows, maybe even love."
I laughed, incredulous. "You can't be serious. I don't even know the guy, you want me to marry a stranger for wealth and status? You know happy marriages have their own flaws while unhappy own has their own flaws too, so how do you want my own marriage to be?."
My mom's expression turned serious. "Kids nowadays work things out and yes I'm completely serious about that. And I think you should at least consider it, just for your future, your sisters on and our own."
Just then, the doorbell rang. My father got up to answer it, revealing my best friend Lira.
"Good morning, mom and dad" Lira said
My eyes widened in shock as my mom smiled and nodded. "Ah, perfect timing, Lira."
She smiled and rushed towards the kitchen to grab a food, she walked back into the dining table qn rushed the food.
"Look how hungry you are" my mom said to Lira.
Lira chuckled
I suddenly interrupted "Hey, babes mom was talking about something earlier but I didn't even quite find it interesting or something to do" I said
"What's that?" Lira asked as she adjusted in her sit properly
My mom cleared her throat and signaled for me to keep quiet, I wondered why she did that.
But then Lira spoke up that she wants to marry Ryan that she had joined the auditioning.
I felt like I had been punched in the gut. Lira, my bestfriend, was going to marry Ryan Thompson? The same richest billionaire my mom had been talking about just moments before? But neither way I am so happy for her and I will gladly support her in everything.
My mom's gaze was fixed on me, her eyes sparkling with excitement. I knew what she was thinking. She was thinking that I should be the one marrying Ryan Thompson, not Lira.
I shook my head, trying to process this new information. Lira, on the other hand, was beaming with joy. She couldn't stop smiling, and her eyes were shining with excitement.
"I'm so delighted and anxious," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I've always dreamed of marrying a man like Ryan Thompson."
My mom nodded, her expression pleased. "I'm so happy for you, Lira. You deserve it."
I, on the other hand, felt like I was going to throw up. This couldn't be happening. Lira, my best friend, was going to marry the man my mom had been trying to convince me to marry?
I pushed back my chair and stood up, trying to make sense of this chaos. "I need some air," I said, my voice shaking.
My mom nodded, her expression understanding. "Go, dear. Take a walk. Clear your head, you badly need it."
I nodded and walked out of the room,as I walked outside the house, I sat down at the garden enjoying the beautiful view, I then thought about it that I should be happy for my friend whatever it may be, I should support her and be happy for her.
Suddenly Lira walked out and touched me from behind.
"Hey I got you" she screamed trying to scare me
I flinched and looked back
"Hey you really got me I was lost in deep thought"
She smirked "Are you going to miss me?" She asked smiling
I nodded "Heyy, don't think that way, even if I get married to him that doesn't mean I will forget you, you are my best friend" she said her expression changing to tears.
I smiled, feeling a warmth in my heart. "I know, Lira. I'm just going to miss our late-night conversations and our silly jokes, I am going to miss everything".
Lira nodded, her eyes welling up with tears. "I'll miss those too. But we can still have them, even if I'm married. Nothing will change between us."
I hugged her tightly, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. "I know. I'm just being selfish."
Lira pulled back and looked at me, her expression serious. "You're not being selfish, Nina. You're being honest. And I appreciate that."
We sat down on the bench, holding hands and looking out at the beautiful view. The sun was setting, casting a golden glow over the garden.
"I'm going to miss this too," Lira said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'm going to miss our every quiet moments together, Nina.."
I squeezed her hand. "We'll still have them, Lira. We'll make time for them."
Lira nodded, a small smile on her face. "I know. I just need to adjust to the new life coming ahead of me.."
I nodded, understanding. "I'll be here for you, every step of the way."
We sat in silence for a moment, watching the sun set behind the trees.
"Nina," Lira said, turning to me with a mischievous grin. "Want to come with me to meet Ryan tomorrow?"
I raised an eyebrow, surprised. "You want me to come with you?"
Lira nodded. "Yes, there will be a interview tomorrow so I dont want to be the only one there". She said.
I hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to say. But then I spoke up again. "So you mean you arent the only one who would be coming to try their luck?."
