Chapter 1 Zya's POV

I had been waiting for Cole by the bleachers for almost thirty minutes. He had promised to come after five minutes but he was yet to show up. My patience was getting thinner by the minute. I had started fidgeting and playing with the straps of my bag because of restlessness. He was always punctual, what was keeping him? I was going to give him ten more minutes and if he didn't show up then I would leave. He was going to pay for my time. I just hoped that he was not out there talking to some girls instead of honoring our meeting.

I had told Marie to wait for me by the school gate. This was thirty minutes ago and I was not sure if she was still there or not. We were to go shop for our prom dresses. I had dismissed my driver and told him to meet us at the exit of the mall in two hours. I had already wasted thirty minutes of that time. We were going to find left over dresses just because of Cole. My phone pinged with a text. I looked at the screen hoping that it was Cole. It was not, it was Marie again. She was leaving because according to her, I was not serious.

I started typing furiously on my phone and was hitting the send button when someone hugged me from behind.

"Hey love," Cole said. Despite being sweaty from running, I could still smell his aftershave. "I am so sorry. I thought we were going to finish early but the coach tagged along a visitor."

I pouted. I did not want to talk to him. Marie had told me to find her at the mall.

"You know you look cute when you pout. I am sorry. I could not get away faster. Coach's visitor was a college recruiter. They are looking into handpicking some of the best athletes from our team. They are offering a full ride to college. You know how much I need it." Cole explained.

"I know. You could have shot me a text. Now you have to take me to the mall because Marie left me." I said.

I wanted to hear more about the college sponsorship but now was not the time. I needed to get to the mall before the other girls took all the beautiful dresses. I could have asked my personal shopper to bring the dresses but I enjoyed the tedious exercise of choosing and trying them on at the mall.

"Okay, my bike is this way." He held my hand as we walked outside. He was warm and familiar.

When we reached his bike, he unhooked the pink helmet and gave it to me. He wore his helmet which was black. I wore mine and hopped onto the bike. "Where is your jacket?" He asked.

"I gave it to Marie. We were supposed to take a cab to the mall. I left my other bag with her." I said.

"Here, take mine." He removed the jacket from his bag and handed it over to me. It smelled of him, an earthy outdoor scent that I liked very much.

I held on to him as he sped on the road.

"Faster! Faster!" I urged him.

I loved it when he sped around. I enjoyed it more when the wind hit my face. It felt freeing. For a girl who had everything except freedom, I craved it. I was not afraid of getting into an accident, I trusted Cole. He was an amazing cyclist.

Cole sped off. The adrenaline from the ride was exhilarating and addictive. I was happy that school was finally coming to an end and we were going to have a lot of time on our hands to ride anywhere we wanted.

Few minutes later we were at the mall. I climbed down and gave him the helmet.

"I wish I could stay and keep you company. I have to help my dad at the bike shop. I will see you tomorrow night, aye?" He asked.

"Yes you will. Can I get you something from the mall?" I asked even though I knew he was going to refuse.

"No. Don't worry about me. I have everything I need. I have to go. Pops might be worried about me." Cole said.

"Okay then. See you tomorrow. I love you." I said.

"I love you more. Come here, come give me a kiss before you go." He pulled me to him and caught my lips in a sizzling kiss. The kiss lasted for five minutes.

"I will see you later. " He said after we broke the kiss.

"Bye." I said as I walked away. I knew he was looking at me so I turned and blew him a kiss. He smiled mischievously before returning the kiss. I shooed him away. If we continued like this, he was not going to leave and I was not going to find Marie.

He drove away after making sure that I had entered the mall. I loved his thoughtfulness, it was one of the things I loved about him.

"Good Lord, I have been waiting for you. What took you so long? Let me guess, Cole?" Marie said as soon as I reached her.

"Yeah. Sorry. He took too long to come. Apparently, they had some visitors who wanted to have a talk with them about college sponsorship. Anyway, enough about him for now, we will get back to him later. Tell me, have you bought anything yet?" I asked as I looked around.

"Actually, yes. I found some nice gowns that would really fit us. They even have matching shoes. Come let us go and try them on." Marie said as she dragged me to the changing room.

The gowns were really nice. Money was not a problem so we picked three each and three pair of shoes. In real sense, there was no need to buy other gowns as we had other clothes we could wear for the party. We just wanted new clothes.

"Come, I need to pick something for Cole. I know he told me not to but I want to surprise him with it." I urged Marie to follow me to the men's section.

"What are looking for specifically?" She asked as we explored the men's section.

"Honestly, I don't really know." All I knew was I wanted something sentimental, a little something that would act as a souvenir and remind him of how much I loved him.

"I know. Come let's go to the other side." Marie said.

It was on the other side that I found what I wanted. The watch was not over the top. It was small; he would still be able to wear it while working with his dad at the bike shop. It was blue in color with small crystals. I loved it and I hoped Cole would too when he saw it. He had told me that he would wear something blue so this was a perfect gift for him.
