The Redemption of Alysson Hart Chapter 1 Prologue

Alexander looked at his watch once more. He had been sitting in this office for about thirty minutes waiting for his future partner. Alysson Hart was a formidable businesswoman, in the industry, she was called heart of stone because she was ruthless. She felt no remorse in crushing anyone who got in her way. But doing business with her was too tempting for Alexander because it was profitable for both of them. They were finally going to meet after months of speaking through their lawyers. He sighed again because she was late.

He questioned the young woman who had just brought him his third coffee. She made him understand with a desolate look that the boss had not yet set foot in the company. Alexander was a patient person, but this young woman was putting his nerves to the test.

He stood up and began to examine the office in great detail. It was very feminine unlike hers which was more masculine. He saw a portrait of Alysson hanging on the wall. She was stunningly beautiful. Her face closed but very beautiful. Alexander found himself imagining kissing that adorable little mouth of hers before pushing those inappropriate thoughts out of his mind. He returned to his seat and took his coffee which he brought to his lips.

- Yes, aunt, I know, I haven't forgotten you. I will come see you as soon as possible and I will even send you gifts. Alysson replied exasperated.

- Are you sure you'll come? his aunt asked once again on the other end of the line.

- Of course I'll come, but now I have to work, we'll talk later.

Alysson hung up without giving her aunt a chance to say a word. She got out of the car and headed to her business. This company was his greatest pride. Her mother had fought for her to see the light of day and Alysson continued to fight to raise her to the top. His entry into the company caused a sensation. Alysson loved the attention, even though all her employees were only women, they loved showing them who was the boss and who was the most stylish in the company. She had sworn to herself never to hire a man because they were not trustworthy, her mother's experience was palpable proof of this. She entered her personal elevator. A few minutes later she arrived at her office. His secretary stood up and gave him her daily smile.

- How are you, Harriet, she asked him.

- I'm fine, miss, and you?

I'm not complaining, she replied, pulling the door handle.

- Miss, I have to tell you that.....

- Later Harriet. she cut her off.

Alysson closed the door to her office and her eyes darkened. A man in her office, impossible, she hated them like the plague. Who was the one who dared to set foot in his company and who was the reckless one who let him in?

- Can we know what you're doing here? She growled, heading towards him visibly angry.

He finally stood up and Alysson thought he would falter, he was so impressive. This man was manhood made flesh. He wore a simple shirt that outlined his impressive muscles to perfection. He was by far the most handsome man she had ever seen. Alysson found herself dreaming of being snuggled up against that muscular chest. She had to give herself a mental slap to come to her senses. This man was looking at her in a very disturbing way and she didn't want to let himself be disturbed by him.

- If it's for the assistant position that you're here, well, I'm sorry, but I only hire women, she continued once at his level.

Alexander no longer listened to what she said, he was so fascinated by her beauty. He wasn't wrong, Alysson Hart was an exquisite temptation. Blonde, she had locked her hair in a strict bun. With a thin mouth and a translucent complexion, she looked stunning in her tailor-made suit.

- I'm talking to you here, Alysson shouted, bringing him out of his thoughts.

- Sorry I was somewhere else, replied Alexander.

His voice was hoarse and composed. For some reason, Alysson felt entranced by her.

"I see," she replied, raising an eyebrow. So I was saying I don't want a male assistant but for some reason I'm going to go against the grain and hire you.

She walked around him and came to sit at his desk. His virile scent tickled his nostrils. Alysson wondered why she hired this man, something in him pushed her to know more about him.

- But finally....

- But nothing at all. I'll hire you, now go get me a coffee. I want it nice and tight and two sugars.

- Wait until I finish speaking, Alexander wanted to reply.

She jumped up, her eyes glaring. She walked over to him and gave him a resounding slap.

- Rule number one, never contradict me, is that clear? she roared. Now make me some coffee.

Without a word, Alexander complied. It was not his habit to harm a woman. It must be said that she liked this little game on the contrary, Alysson Hart may have been a heartless woman but she was magnificent. Alexander wanted to get to know her and the only way to do that was this. He was going to play assistant and learn to make her see life differently. Despite his fiery temperament, she had awakened something special in him.

The coffee machine was in his office. He went there and made her coffee as desired. She brought it back to him but barely a sip, she spilled the coffee all over him.

- I said tight but you did something stupid she shouted. You are incapable, I always have to do everything myself.

Without worrying about whether he was okay, she went to make her own coffee before returning to him with a nonchalant approach.

- This is what we call a well-made coffee, she said to him, showing him her cup.

- You burned me, Alexander told him, and that doesn't seem to worry you in the least.

"It's just a small burn, you'll get over it," she casually said. I'll give you the day, come back tomorrow.

He moved towards the door but she stopped him.

- What's your name again? she asked.

-Jason Parker. he replied.

He had decided to use his cousin's name so she wouldn't suspect anything. Alexander left the office completely furious. The reports about this young woman were true. He had decided to play but it started very badly. He wondered how long he was going to play this game but he knew it was going to end very badly.

SHANA GRAY

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.
