Chapter 1 🌸Chapter One 🌸

Looking across my window, seeking for the right man, my prince charming to be precise, but couldn't find any. I decided to look at the mirror to examine myself whether I have an ugly shape or face. " Nahh, I look great". I just don't understand the problem. Why can't a noble just like me for who I am and not because of my wealth. I sigh.

" Princess Ella, your breakfast is ready" called maya, my maid. I quickly combed my hair and put on my yellow gown with a floppy slippers. When I got down, I met my parents, the King and Queen already at the table, discussing business. "Good morning " I greeted, gaining them my presence and they replied my greeting. And now it was time for my mum to ask, " Darling, are there no suitors you love?"

"Mum,they don't actually love me,they love my wealth. I just want a guy to love me the way I am and cherish me like a priceless jewel. Not thinking about how many wealth they could accumulate from my family." I responded feeling down. " But its hard to find true love these days. Wealth solves everything. Just pick any suitors and with your wealth, they will respect you and treat you like the priceless jewel you speak of". " so dad was that how you met mum?Through wealth? Not love?"

" Oh, come on honey, we were arranged, but later we fell in love. Don't worry, just find a suitable suitor and later on love will grow. After all when there is money, there is love" Dad said with a smile. " No dad. Money can't buy love, joy or happiness " and there goes another round of arguments. So after much argument, a thought runs down my mind. " what if I travel far alittle bit without any guards, maids or anything that shows royalty? I just want to be like an ordinary civilian" I said. "Impossible! I can't let my only daughter travel around freely without protection. What if some bad people kidnap you or robbers on the way? No." " Dad, no one can touch this beauty. Besides not everyone can identify me as the daughter of the greatest king lucais and Queen Mirenda". I said trying to push forward. " Honey, the outside world is not what you think". " how will I know if I don't explore? Or maybe my Prince charming might be waiting for me or maybe I should just go to my room and wail till death?". I said trying to give them a pitiful look, after all my parents can't stand me in tears. After much deliberation, he said " Alright you can go, with only one condition " says dad with a growl on his face. " One guard must follow you, anywhere you go and never let anything happen to you, if not they will pay with his life within six months but if otherwise, he will be paid handsomely. So pick wisely". Some guards were summoned but they were afraid of replacing their lives for me. What a life! But surprisingly, my favourite friend who works as a maid in the Palace named Holly, spoke up, agreed to follow me no matter what. So after a documents was signed, we were free to move. Me and Holly picked a nice place in califonia, which was not too big nor very beautiful but was comfortable at least. After all we have shelter.

On the third week of May, we were set for the quest to find the most suitable suitor #seekfortruelove#, with a lovely smile on my face but tears on my parents faces. I gave them the final peck before embarking on the journey to califonia.

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé. Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now-billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn't mind. I'd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one? Wrong. One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That's when it hit me-he didn't love me. He didn't even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn't even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup. So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster-my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise. Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol. Enter him. Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I'd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes. It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised. But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life. And, as it turned out, the best decision I'd ever made. Because my one-night stand isn't just some random guy. He's richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with. And now, he's not letting me go.
