Marissa Perez is a nurse at Hilltop hospital who has a seemingly normal life until one day, she's kidnapped by the Russian Mafia and the life of her father is in danger. Stefan Agron is the head of the Motolov Bratva, a secret organization that runs drug operations in the city of New York. He kidnaps Marissa and uses her to bait Nikita Aleksky, the son Monya Aleksky his rival, as a means of punishing for him for a sin he committed. Things get complicated as Nikita and Stefan begin to fall for Marissa, both of them drawn to protecting her and Stefan realizes that she's his prized possession, one he'd give anything to protect; even if its his family. Would Marissa be drawn to him as well or would she choose Nikita over him?

Chapter 1 ONE- HIS VICTIM

**Stefan**

I knew her every moves. Her very steps. The sound of her voice.

The way her lips curled to reveal dimples when she smiled. The way her eyes lit up when she laughed.

The way she fluttered her eyelashes coyly when she saw the Doctor.

The fact that she didn't drink and didn't have much friends except for the woman I had sent to keep an eye on her.

And the fact that her hold on me was driving me almost senseless making me wonder if it'd drive him the same way too.

It's been a year since I've been stalking her and making a fool of myself. To think that the most ruthless Mafia Lord in all of NY was tailing a woman personally was the most insane thing ever heard of.

What would the underworld say if they heard that a woman like Marissa Perez was driving me crazy?

What would they think if they heard that I was outside her home on a Saturday evening watching her through the window as she laughed with her Father over a drink.

I'm many things but I'm not a stalker.

Stalking is completely for those under me, I don't stalk my victims.

My victims.

It was safe to call her a victim now because that's what she was going to be in the coming hours.

"Should we go in and get her now since they're together?"

Dmitri asked.

Dmitri was my righthand man and one who didn't like to be kept waiting especially because of a woman. His hair was slicked back with gel and his face was puffed up. He didnt have any lovable features about him physically and character wise, he was the meanest and most cruel of all my men which was why I had chosen him for this mission tonight.

Gilead was warned about paying me on time but he had chosen to go back on his word which was why I had decided to approach her myself so that there wouldn't be any confusion about the kind of man I happened to be.

That's why I'm called Litso so shramom meaning Scarface in Russian.

My fingers went involuntarily to the jagged scar that ran from my left eye to the my upper lip.

Marissa followed Gilead through the door, her hand clasped around his right arm as they laughed. They were headed to his car when he stopped abruptly and looked around.

It was late and it would be impossible for him to see us since our headlights were off but still, I had a feeling that his cop instincts were on alert.

"Goodnight Dad. Thanks for coming over." She hugged him tightly. He patted her on the back and pushed her away gently.

If he wasn't her Father, you'd think they were lovers.

"Call me anytime you need to talk okay? I'm always here for you." He said, ruffling her long hair. She swatted his hands off her head and he laughed.

"Stop doing that now, Dad. I'm not 12 anymore."

"I keep forgetting that."

She waved at him one last time before entering back into her house, turning the lock behind her.

I smiled at her carefulness. No matter what she did, she was still going to get kidnapped by me tonight.

"It's time, Dmitri." I said in Russian and he stepped out of our car, parked by the opposite side of the road. Walking by the trees to avoid being seen, he crossed to the other side and went to the back of Gilead's car.

Another of my aide was seated at the back seat already and as soon as Dmitri showed up with a gun pointed to Gilead's face, Katrina gagged his mouth from behind.

Good.

Now, it was time to go get the girl. Rambo, my tech guy who sat in front was ready to go out when I touched him on the shoulder.

"No, I'll go in first. When I give you the signal, you'll come."

He nodded his head at me in understanding as I stepped out of the black minivan and buttoned my striped Italian suit I had gotten as a gift. There was no need for me to follow the trees since Gilead already knew who I was as Dmitri and Katrina bundled him up and placed him in the booth of his car.

Marissa had already drawn the curtains in the living room so I opted to use the kitchen door, the part of her house that was never locked.

How do I know?

Because, this isn't my first time in her house. She's careful about the front but not about the kitchen and since the lock spoilt, she hadn't called anyone to fix it.

The hinges didn't creak like they use to because I oiled it a week beforehand. The more I explain things to myself, the creepier it becomes.

Plates were stacked in her sink along with the two glasses her and Gilead used to drink wine. If there was anything I knew, it was that she wasn't an alcoholic.

I walked out of the kitchen and into the corridor that led both ways; forward to her living room and backwards to her bedroom.

The sound of running water was coming from her bedroom along with the sound of people talking.

She's probably watching a movie.

Korean to be precise because that's all she watches. I rolled my eyes at her movie choice as I waited, leaning by the doorpost.

She didn't lock her door either, I know that much so getting in wasn't going to be a difficult task.

I sent the alert call to Rambo so he'd take his cue.

The voices of the characters were becoming louder now, Marissa oohing and ahhing her opinions. Rambo came in with the handkerchief and walked past me to her room , opening the door gently.

This was the moment we had all been waiting for.

I heard her moan and then stillness before he appeared carrying her in his arms, her long hair trailing behind her.

We gave each other slight nods as he walked past me and back outside.

I had successfully captured my victim.

Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband’s Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn’t find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn’t even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father’s legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn’s party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara’s health and managing every detail of Caden’s empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I’d drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause—if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I’d forgotten.

For seventeen years, I was the pride of the Carlisle family, the perfect daughter destined to inherit an empire. But that life ended the moment a DNA report slid across my father’s mahogany desk. The paper proved I was a stranger. Vanessa, the girl sobbing in the corner, was the real biological daughter they had been searching for. "You need to leave. Tonight. Before the press gets wind of this. Before the stock prices dip." My father’s voice was as cold as flint. My mother wouldn't even look at me, staring out the window at the gardens as if I were already a ghost. Just like that, I was erased. I left behind the Birkin bags and the diamonds, throwing my Centurion Card into a crystal bowl with a clatter that echoed like a gunshot. I walked out into the cold night and climbed into a rusted Ford Taurus driven by a man I had never met—my biological father. I went from a mansion to a fourth-floor walk-up in Queens that smelled of laundry detergent and struggle. My new siblings looked at me with a mix of fear and disgust, waiting for the "fallen princess" to break. They expected me to beg for my old life back, to crumble without the luxury I’d known since birth. But they didn't know the truth. I had spent years training in a shark tank, honing survival skills they couldn't imagine. While Richard Carlisle froze my trust funds to starve me out, my net worth was climbing by millions on an encrypted trading app. They thought they were throwing me to the wolves. They didn't realize they were just letting me off my leash. As the Carlisles prepared to debut Vanessa at the Manhattan Arts Gala, I was already making my move. "Get dressed. We're going to a party."

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé. Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now-billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn't mind. I'd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one? Wrong. One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That's when it hit me-he didn't love me. He didn't even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn't even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup. So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster-my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise. Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol. Enter him. Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I'd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes. It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised. But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life. And, as it turned out, the best decision I'd ever made. Because my one-night stand isn't just some random guy. He's richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with. And now, he's not letting me go.
