Chapter 1 Looking for a Mate
That night, in the city of Paris. zayn stared at the ceiling of his luxurious room. He couldn't sleep because he was thinking about his father's request for him to marry Lucy, the she-wolf of the strongest clan.
Unable to close his eyes, he grabbed the keys to his sports car and drove off. He wanted to spend some time at a nightclub to ease his hangover.
Zayn didn't drink much. He only saw some beautiful women swaying on the floor to the music that was unable to calm his heart and mind.
Bored with the scene, Alex decided to return home to his penthouse. The next day, Zayn was surprised by the arrival of his father who said he would hold a family meeting to discuss their marriage.
"Dad, I told you, I don't want to be married," Zayn tried to subtly reject his father's request.
"Honey, please, explain to me why you don't want to marry Lucy? What's missing in Lucy? She's beautiful, sexy, smart. And most importantly, she's perfect for you because you're both strong," James, Zayn's father, pressed.
Zayn was silent. He himself didn't know why he didn't like Lucy, even though she had a lot going for her.
"Come to my house tomorrow. We'll have dinner together. Don't disappoint me!"
Zayn went to the office with a troubled heart. Although Zayn was famous for his cruelty, he was a man who was very obedient to his father. However, this time, he was indecisive...
Upon entering his company's building, Zayn simply nodded as his employees greeted him. He sat down in his oversized chair and started working on his assignment.
The pounding of footsteps in his room distracted Zayn. He saw a smooth white foot clad in a diamond-shimmering high heel.
Zayn could already guess who had come to his office.
"What are you doing here?"
Instead of answering, the woman sat on Zayn's lap. "I miss you baby. Don't reject me anymore because soon, you will be mine. Even though you rejected me before, in the end, you'll come back to me! Doesn't that mean we're soul mates?" Lucy caressed Zayn's handsome face.
"Stop it Lucy, I still have a lot of work to do. You don't have to worry, I'll come over for dinner tonight," Zayn said as he pushed Lcy's body to the ground.
Instead of getting angry, Lucy smiled. "I like rough men. I'll see you tomorrow baby," she said as she stood up and cleaned her clothes.
Night had fallen, lazily, Zayn drove his vehicle to his father's luxurious mansion. There, Lucy and her parents were already there.
'Sorry I'm late," Zayn said as he bowed his head to salute Lucy's parents.
"It's okay, baby."
"Come on, let's get dinner started! The wait is over," said Sofia, Zayn's mom.
They sat at the dining table made of carved teak wood. The maid began to fill their plates with food. In the middle of the meal James talked about Zayn and Lucy's arranged marriage and what would happen if this marriage was carried out. The most important thing was to keep them together.
"What about Lucy? Do you agree to marry Zayn?" asked Gregory, Lucy's father.
She nodded shyly. As for Zayn, he was in a big dilemma. He couldn't possibly reject this arranged marriage outright, as it would tarnish his father's good name. However, he also couldn't marry a woman he didn't love.
Zayn repeatedly let out a long sigh. Now, it was his turn to answer his father's question.
"How is Zayn?"
"In advance, I'm sorry Dad! I can't go through with this. Let me find my own mate. If Lucy is the woman the Goddess has chosen for me, we'll be together someday," Zayn refused as politely as he could. However, it still hurt Lucy deeply.
James' face suddenly changed. Anger mixed with shame that his son had dared to reject this arranged marriage directly in front of Lucy and her parents.
He wanted to beat his son to a pulp for humiliating him. However, his wife's gentle strokes on his arm tempered his emotions.
"Let's put it this way, we're still going ahead with the arranged marriage. However, we will postpone the wedding until Zayn is sure of his feelings for Lucy." Sofia said, mediating a situation that had been unpleasant for a while.
"And you Lucy, come to Zayn's office often to make an approach, so that you can get along quickly and fall in love with each other."
"Isn't that right, sir?" Sofia asked her future in-laws.
Gregory and his wife nodded in agreement. They realized that perhaps, Zayn needed time to think about all this.
After some small talk, they finally said goodbye. Gregory was a little calmer, but not James. The old man had been holding back his anger. The table in front of him was suddenly overturned. All the delicious food fell to the floor.
Zayn was silent, he didn't dare to fight his father if the man was in a state of anger like this.
"Tell me Zayn! What do you mean by refusing all this? Didn't I tell you this morning not to embarrass me? Why are you so stubborn?"
Zayn demanded. "Forgive Zayn, Father! It wasn't Zayn's intention to embarrass Ayha. It's just that I know that Zayn can't go through with this," Zayn refused.
"You're too naive Zayn. Your true mate is Lucy. And she is the woman the Goddess destined to be your companion," James emphasized as he gripped his son's shoulders.
"I'm sorry father. But Zayn doesn't feel it. You don't have to worry about Zayn. I will find her and bring her here," Zayn said and left the dining room. However, his steps stopped when his father shouted the sacred sentence.
"If you won't obey Father's orders, get out of here! And don't take anything with you! We'll see if you can live without luxuries."
Zayn then turned around. He kissed his mother and father's hands. "Mom, Dad, I'd like to say goodbye. Please forgive all of Zayn's mistakes. I'm leaving!"
Zayn then went into his room and put all his atm, car keys and also his luxury watch. The man was desperate to leave with only the clothes on his body. And left all the luxuries he had been getting.
He will prove to his father and mother, that true mate exists. And he was sure, he could find her in his own way.
Zayn walked through the dark night. Occasionally he closed his eyes and took a deep breath of air. The smell of mate was getting closer. "I will definitely find you."
