Chapter 1 The Rainy Night

Night had fallen, and the city was shrouded in a fine drizzle. The streets glistened under the dim yellow streetlights, with occasional vehicles splashing through puddles. Hailey hurried along the path back to her dormitory, holding an old umbrella. Having just finished her evening job, she felt a bit tired, but her mind was still filled with the bustling scenes and voices of customers from the store.

"Be careful, don't walk too fast," Hailey muttered to herself, reminding herself to watch the slippery ground. She turned into a secluded alleyway, a shortcut to her dorm, but it was eerily quiet at this hour, with only the sound of rain accompanying her.

Suddenly, a faint groan came from deep within the alley. Hailey paused, frowning. She slowed her pace, moving cautiously towards the sound. In the dimly lit corner of the alley, she could barely make out what was ahead.

"Is anyone there?" Hailey called out tentatively, but there was no response. She bit her lip, summoning her courage, and moved closer. When she saw the man lying on the ground, she gasped. It was a man in a high-end suit, but he looked disheveled, with visible bloodstains and abrasions. His face was pale, clearly seriously injured.

Fear gripped Hailey, her mind racing through various dangerous scenarios. She instinctively wanted to turn and leave, but seeing the man's faint breathing, her compassion overpowered her fear. She knelt down beside him and gently patted his cheek, trying to wake him up.

"Sir, can you hear me?" Hailey's voice trembled, but she forced herself to stay calm. The man didn't respond, remaining unconscious.

Hailey quickly pulled out her phone and dialed emergency services. She briefly described the situation to the operator and gave her location. After hanging up, she took off her jacket and draped it over the man, hoping to keep him warm.

"You have to hold on, the ambulance will be here soon," Hailey said softly, even though she knew he might not hear her. It made her feel like she was doing something.

The rain continued to fall, and Hailey's clothes gradually became soaked, but she didn't leave the man's side. She occasionally glanced around, ensuring there were no other threats.

The man next to her slowly opened his eyes, his vision blurred. He could vaguely see a girl in a white dress crouching beside him, seemingly saying something in a hurry. He tried to listen closely, but a wave of dizziness hit him, and his consciousness quickly slipped away, plunging him back into unconsciousness.

A few minutes later, the sound of an approaching ambulance grew louder. Hailey's heart raced as she watched the flashing red lights get closer. The ambulance stopped at the entrance of the alley, and several paramedics quickly got out, bringing their equipment with them.

"Over here!" Hailey waved to them, and the paramedics immediately moved forward to check on the man. Hailey briefly recounted how she found him and silently prayed he would be okay.

"Thank you, we'll take it from here," one of the paramedics said, starting to treat the man. Hailey stood by, watching their proficient work, feeling a bit relieved.

"Will he be alright?" Hailey couldn't help but ask.

"We'll do our best," the paramedic replied succinctly, as they lifted the man onto a stretcher and quickly loaded him into the ambulance.

Hailey watched the ambulance drive away, standing still, staring at the disappearing tail lights in the rain. She felt an indescribable mix of worry and a sense of duty. The man's face lingered in her mind, his pale complexion and shallow breathing etched in her memory.

Finally, Hailey closed her umbrella and continued her way back to the dormitory. Her steps were heavy, but she felt a strange sense of fulfillment. She knew she had done the right thing, even if it meant taking some risks.

That rainy night, Hailey's act of kindness unintentionally altered both her and Wayne's fates. Little did she know, this chance encounter would set off a chain of events that would eventually intertwine their destinies.

I received a pornographic video. "Do you like this?" The man speaking in the video is my husband, Mark, whom I haven't seen for several months. He is naked, his shirt and pants scattered on the ground, thrusting forcefully on a woman whose face I can't see, her plump and round breasts bouncing vigorously. I can clearly hear the slapping sounds in the video, mixed with lustful moans and grunts. "Yes, yes, fuck me hard, baby," the woman screams ecstatically in response. "You naughty girl!" Mark stands up and flips her over, slapping her buttocks as he speaks. "Stick your ass up!" The woman giggles, turns around, sways her buttocks, and kneels on the bed. I feel like someone has poured a bucket of ice water on my head. It's bad enough that my husband is having an affair, but what's worse is that the other woman is my own sister, Bella. ************************************************************************************************************************ "I want to get a divorce, Mark," I repeated myself in case he didn't hear me the first time-even though I knew he'd heard me clearly. He stared at me with a frown before answering coldly, "It's not up to you! I'm very busy, don't waste my time with such boring topics, or try to attract my attention!" The last thing I was going to do was argue or bicker with him. "I will have the lawyer send you the divorce agreement," was all I said, as calmly as I could muster. He didn't even say another word after that and just went through the door he'd been standing in front of, slamming it harshly behind him. My eyes lingered on the knob of the door a bit absentmindedly before I pulled the wedding ring off my finger and placed it on the table. I grabbed my suitcase, which I'd already had my things packed in and headed out of the house.
