Chapter 1 A Chance Encounter

Leana De Luca strolled down the cobblestone streets of Venice, Italy, her heart fluttering with excitement. The city was alive with the sound of water lapping against the gondolas, the soft chatter of tourists, and the occasional outburst of laughter from a nearby café. Venice, with its romantic canals and historic architecture, had always been a place of dreams for Leana .

As she wandered, her eyes caught sight of a quaint bookshop nestled between two grand buildings. Its weathered sign read "Libreria Incanto." Drawn by an inexplicable pull, she entered. The smell of aged paper and ink filled the air, a familiar comfort for someone who found solace in stories.

Inside, she found herself lost in rows of books, each one a potential escape from reality. Her fingers traced the spines, and she pulled out an old, leather-bound volume. Opening it, she discovered handwritten notes in the margins, a testament to the book's previous owner.

"Finding something interesting?" a deep voice asked.

Startled, Leana turned to see a man standing beside her. He was tall with dark, wavy hair and piercing blue eyes that seemed to see right through her. He wore a simple white shirt and jeans, but there was an air of sophistication about him.

"Yes, actually," Leana replied, a blush creeping up her cheeks. "I love books with a history."

The man smiled. "I'm Macus, the owner of this shop. That book was my grandmother's favorite. She believed every book has a soul, a history that connects with its reader."

Leana's heart skipped a beat. "I'm Leana. It's a beautiful place you have here."

"Thank you," Macus said, his smile widening. "Would you like some coffee? There's a small café in the back. We can talk more about books and history."

Leana hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "I'd love that."
