Chapter 1 ASHELY P.O.V

ASHELY OLSEN

"It's often said that money can buy happiness, but my story proves otherwise. I may have everything material I could ever want, but I lack something more important - true love and happiness."

My name is Ashley Olsen and I'm 18 years old. My parents have everything they could possibly want, but that doesn't mean I'm happy. They don't allow me to do anything without their permission or consent, which makes me feel trapped and suffocated. I want to be free to make my own decisions and live my own life, but it seems like that's impossible under my current circumstances.

I stood in front of the mirror, dressed in my high-end private school uniform. I brushed my hair back, taking in my reflection.

I went to a prestigious school called JOY High, which was known for being one of the best schools in the country. I was considered beautiful by my peers, with a curvy figure and long, toned legs. But despite my physical beauty, I was not happy. I felt like a bird in a gilded cage, trapped in an environment that didn't allow me to be myself.

I grabbed my bag and headed downstairs. As I entered the dining room, I saw my parents already seated at the table.

"Good morning, Dad and Mom,"

"Good morning, Ashley," my dad, Brad, replied.

I nodded and took a seat at the table, my stomach grumbling as the smell of freshly brewed coffee filled the air.

"I hope you haven't forgotten what we talked about yesterday," my dad said

"Brad, please, not this again, It's too early for that." my mom, Lily, interjected.

"Woman, I wasn't talking to you, so mind your own business" my dad snapped back.

I cringed, knowing this was just the beginning of what would be a long and tense breakfast.

I stood up, my bag slung over my shoulder.

"Ashley, you haven't even finished your breakfast" my mom

"I've lost my appetite," I said, trying to keep my voice level.

"Sit down, young lady" my dad barked, his voice thunderous. I sat back down, the color draining from my face.

"Ashley, listen to me,Ryan reported to me yesterday that you rejected his marriage proposal. I want to know why you're refusing to do what's best for you and our family."

"Dad, I've already told you, I don't love him I can't marry someone I don't love, even if it's what you want. I have to live my own life, make my own choices also I am just 18."

"Listen, young lady,I want to make myself perfectly clear. Ryan is your betrothed, and you will marry him. I don't care if you're only 18, this is what's best for our family."

"But, Dad,I'm still so young, I don't even know what I want yet. I can't be forced into a marriage I don't want."

"This is not up for discussion," my dad said, his voice cold. "You will do what is expected of you, and that's final." With that he leave the table

"Oh, sweetheart,Don't get so upset, your father is just trying to do what's best for you."my mum said

I felt my anger rise as I looked at my mom. "Don't tell me that, Mom. If you can't talk to your husband about this, then don't try to make excuses for him. I'm leaving." With that, I grabbed my bag and stormed out of the house, the door slamming behind me.

As I was driven to school by my driver, I couldn't help but feel a sense of dread as we pulled into the parking lot. And as fate would have it, the first person I saw as I stepped out of the car was the last person I wanted to see Ryan. My heart sank as our eyes met.

"Hey, Ashley," Ryan said. I ignored him and kept walking, but he grabbed my arm and pulled me back.

"Let go of me!" I yelled, trying to break free from his grasp. I was livid, my heart racing and my fists clenched. I glared at him, my eyes flashing with anger.

"You can run, but you can't hide,After we graduate, we're going to get married. You can't escape your destiny."

"In your wildest dreams!" I shouted, my voice full of anger and disgust. "I've told you a million times, I don't want to marry you. Why can't you just get that through your thick skull?"

"So, if you're not going to marry me, then who are you going to marry?" Ryan asked

"It's none of your business,Just leave me alone. I don't want anything to do with you. You're toxic, and I'm better off without you in my life I hate you."

I turned and ran, leaving Ryan standing there, his face a mixture of anger and disbelief. I ran to my friends, Isabel and Mia, and collapsed into their arms, sobbing.

" I knew that no matter how much I ran or tried to escape, my dad would always push me back towards Ryan. It felt like a never-ending cycle of frustration and hopelessness. But I held onto a small glimmer of hope, believing that a miracle would come and change everything. I knew it would take time, but I was determined to keep fighting for my freedom and happiness."
