"Hurry up! Alpha is coming back! What are you dragging for?"
The pack’s Beta, Melvin Phillips, urged Della Gordon impatiently as if she was some kind of a lazy omega.
However, Della was much more than that. She was the Luna of the Blue Moon Pack and Ethan’s mate. Melvin had been Ethan’s beta for as long as she could remember.
Della didn't complain at all. She was preparing dinner with sweat all over her forehead. When she placed the last dish on the table, she saw Ethan coming in with Katie Johnson beside him.
She had been the Luna for three years, but Ethan had ignored her those same years.
Every night, when he was away, Katie would send threatening messages and intimate photos she had with Ethan to remind her.
Although the Moon Goddess had chosen her to be Ethan's mate, Ethan didn't love her.
Katie leaned against Ethan enchantingly and said, "Della, I'm so sorry to disturb you. Did you cook all these? They are so amazing. Unlike me, I'm always in poor health. Ethan cares so much about me and won’t allow me to cook."
Della pursed her lips. Katie’s appearance and words were nothing but a reminder that Ethan never cared for Della at all.
"Is it strange that a wolfhore trying to rob another’s mate can enter the house without shame now?” Della couldn’t help but utter with disgust.
Robbing other people’s mates was the most disdainful thing for werewolves to do. In the past, when the werewolves did this, they called them “wolfhore”. They thought that only when they colluded with the witches could they have the ability to bewitch others' mates, and they would expel them from the pack. But times had changed. Wolfhore was no longer a severe crime. The wolves were losing their faith.
Katie pursed her lips in a grievance. "Della, don't get me wrong. It's the pack doctor who said that I am weak and need more nutrition. So Ethan takes me here for lunch."
Della clenched her fists and replied, “Katie, are we that familiar with each other? I'm cooking to fulfill my Luna's obligation to let my Alpha enjoy a good food after a busy day. What does it have to do with you?"
Ethan frowned at that and scolded, "What are you doing, Della? Is this the courtesy you as a Luna should have when facing a guest?”
"That's right. Anyway, what does our Luna can do to serve us? It’s just a meal. Why can’t we have one more person to eat with us?" Heidi, Ethan’s sister, went downstairs impatiently.
"Besides, if you hadn't intervened, Katie might have been my brother's Luna." Heidi habitually sat at the table and patted the seat beside her. "Katie, come and sit here."
Even Melvin hypocritically echoed, "Being indifferent to weak pack members is not qualified for a qualified Luna."
The ringing of Ethan's phone grabbed everyone's attention. Ethan picked it up and hung up after a few simple words.
"I have something to take care of it in the pack. Melvin, come with me."
Ethan left in a hurry with Melvin and did not even say if he would be back tonight. Looking at the two people at the table, Della lost her appetite. "I’m already full. Enjoy yourselves."
After speaking, she turned around and went upstairs. Lying on the bed, Della kept recalling the past three years. She had fallen in love with Ethan at first sight when she saw Ethan giving a speech at Werewolf University as the new Alpha. She couldn't forget the intoxicating scent she whiffed off of him. He was the mate that the Moon Goddess had arranged for her. More importantly, Della personally liked him as well.
It was her dream to be his Luna. But when it happened, all the filters were broken.
He was as gentle as she thought and dreamt about, but not to her. He was as strong as she thought but unwilling to protect her.
In order to maintain their fragile mate bond, she sacrifice everything and swallowed her pride. She did everything for the Blue Moon Pack. She did all the housework, and lived as if she was an omega. No matter how much difficulties Ethan's mother and sister gave her, she endured them all and never brought him any trouble.
She thought that as long as she tried harder and endured a little, he could see her worth. But he still took Katie to have dinner at their place without caring about her feelings.
Was he going to have her make room for Katie in the future?
She was deep in her thoughts when a knock on her door brought her back to reality.
Upon opening the door, Della was met with an aggravated look from Katie. "I'm sorry, Della. I didn't realize today was your third wedding anniversary. I came here to disturb you."
"Ethan is not here. You don't have to pretend to be pitiful." Della was not in the mood to deal with Katie’s pretense, so she instantly exposed her scheme.
Katie instantly changed her expression and snorted contemptuously. She entered Della’s room and said, "Della, if I were you, I would reject Ethan as soon as possible. He didn’t have you in his heart at all."
Della frowned and said, "Is it important? As long as I'm still alive, I'll still be the Blue Moon Pack’s Luna and his mate."
Katie looked around and sneered. "Don't be arrogant. Guess what Ethan will do if I get hurt in your room?"
Della was evident that Ethan would never believe that she was innocent. She had a bad feeling and immediately scolded, "Get out!"
"Three years. It's been too long. I don't want to wait any longer," Katie warned with a smug smile. The next second, Katie suddenly turned around, grabbed the eyebrow razor on the dressing table, and stabbed it into her belly!
"Della, I want your life." Blood oozed from the corner of Katie's mouth. She looked behind her and said, "Heidi, help me..."
In the hospital.
When Ethan arrived, the pack doctor just came out of the emergency room.
"The wound had a hint of wolfbane! The injured 's kidney has been infected and can't be cured. She must have a new kidney!"
"Della! Why are you so vicious?"
Della was pulled harshly by him, making her yelp in pain as she tried to explain. "I didn’t do it!”
