On a very sunny afternoon, the sun up in the sky shinning so bright even the soil of the land could also feel the hotness of the sun.I was actually outside the balcony of my father's house all alone,I was the only daughter my father had.with three boys ahead of me
My father who works has a full time day farmer and my mother who sells consumer goods mainly for immediate consumption at the local market. While my brothers works at big companies in big cities,I don't actually know their profession because father does not talks about it at home but they do come home especially in festive seasons.
It all begun just like a dream to me,you no a dream you don't know but can just imagine it,yet feel it you could be directed by it until it becomes a reality that you can I do not actually know what inspires me to have the dream
My name is Mercy and this is my story,it all started when I was about seven years old although I don't know my exact age then but with what my mother had told me almost every of my birthdays,I was never an expected child for my parent because they gave birth to me at an old age.
That special day my mother gave birth to me was a big surprise to my father because the minutes my mum lasted in the hospital didn't take an hour,I arrived to the earth in the evening,I was very small and a little bit hairy,I was small less than five pounds but beautiful,I look so perfect to my mother that she nicknamed me" MAY the month she gave birth to me.
Well having found myself in a small town or society in the west region of Nigeria at IWERE it was a very beautiful town because it is not too far to Lagos city in Nigeria,my mother is an indigene of Lagos but she is from Badagry at Lagos but my dad is from IWERE I had Been taught at an early age that the people of IWERE were friendly, the spring water was pure and the air was clean. The virtues of IWERE was praised so much that I was so happy to be born as an African.
Children of the IWERE women who go to cities like Lagos city,United kingdom,Germany and so on.They come back home with big cars and were being welcomed with respectful expression because going to the United kingdom was like paying the lord a visit to the IWERE people. The United kingdom then must be like heaven.
My mother was also a seamstress, she made most of my blouses it was actually the remnants from the material made into a frock for her it was always so big that I look like a swam in it,my mother never dream of making me a dress that was actually my size even though I complain to her she would say I would soon outgrow it, even though I was a small girl so skinny for my age I would still always have dresses four or five sizes bigger.
