Chapter 1 One

(Maia's P. O. V.)

We stood in the middle of the town centre. Stains of blood decorated the floor, the sky was grey. Everywhere was silent, except for the cries of my mother, of sadness and agony, and the sobs of my junior sister, who was just nine. I tried my best to hold myself together, lMidnight Moon to myself that this wasn't the end for my father, it wasn't the end of our pack. My heart bled in silence in my chest, the cold of the wind adding to the pricking feeling of the cold rushing through my veins. My father, Alpha Roy Lawson, the man who once stood strong on his feet, sure of the ground below him, now was a tattered person, on his knees in submission to his enemy. Someone who used to be the epitome of strength, was all bruised up, ready to embrace his impending doom. The war had lasted for weeks; too many weeks that I had lost count on the days. The reason for it was very absurd, but then again, when had Alpha Kima Hayden been one to use logic in dealing with things? I wasn't surprised. So many times he had tried to start a war, because of the way he envied our land. He was a power drunk, greedy, and arrogant man.

By tradition, at the end of every war, the two Alpha's who were at war, had to have a one on one duel, in which they couldn't get help from anything and anyone, and they had to do it in their wolf forms. But of course, the bastard who called himself Kima, cheated. He used a silver platings on his nails, and of course scratched my dad with them. Everyone knew how silver reacted with Werewolves; that was all it took to take down my father who had the upper hand in the fight. How did I discover? I knew silver inflicted wounds when I saw one. I had gotten some training by my uncle who was a doctor, but now he too was dead. He died while trMidnight Moon to defend our pack.

King Kima stood over my dad, who was all bruised and beaten up, on his knees on the floor. His blood flowed through various places on his body, his skin was deathly pale, each ticking second the light towards the afterlife getting closer and closer to him that I could feel it. Kima wore an evil smirk, his black armour making him look like the messenger of the underworld, his aura radiating total Glee at the fact that he had won. Though the sun hid behind the clouds, the unseathed Katana sword that he held in his hand glistened in the daylight, implMidnight Moon just how sharp it was. My father's eyes opened heavily, as he set his eyes on the other alpha in a hopeless air. I on the other hand, was trMidnight Moon to break free from the rough hold of the soldiers, willing to go out there and die for my father. I was just sixteen years of age, but I didn't care. My father was needed just by our family, but by the pack and kingdom. If he died, everything ended. I still had that hope that perhaps I could save him one way or the other.

The evil glint in the eyes of the rival alpha intensified, and his once light green eyes had taken the shade of the leaves in the forest. It would have been beautiful under different circumstances, perhaps if I hadn't known just how many sinister thoughts ran through the mind of this mad man. Fear wasn't something that I felt normally, but I could feel it creeping up my skin, and make it's way into my senses, overwhelming and numbing every other element in my mind. The smirk on the face of Kima grew, as he saw the miserable state of my father, through every minute that passed.

"Awww, are you uncomfortable my dear Roy? Do your legs hurt from kneeling down?" He said, laughing in a way that clearly mocked my suffering father.

The urge to lunge forward, and just give him a punch for taking advantage of his higher position overwhelmed me, and I acted on it, but got held back by the soldiers, which reminds me that we were being restricted like a bunch of criminals. I didn't like this feeling that Rose in my chest at all; the feeling of helplessness and despair towards the situation at hand, inability to help my father in any way at all. He walks slowly, creating a circle with his steps around my father, as if he was the predator, and the poor man was a prey he was ready to pounce on.

"How bout I..." He paused, building up the pit of tension that swirled at the bottom of my belly. "....ease some of the stress for you?"

With that, he swung the Katana sword twice, on each of the feet of the Alpha, cutting them off effortlessly, very much to my horror. Blood gushed out, but my father's expression and stance is nearly unchanging, except for the momentarily obvious slight wince, that got lost as soon as it appeared.

"Roy!" My mother screamed out in the agony of watching her mate and husband being treated like he was less of a man.

"Leave me alone! Let me be with my Roy! Free me you cowards!"

My heart wrenched even terribly more at the sight of my mother's sobs, and pained protests. She was a very calm woman, and a strong one too. This view in front of me, that was unfolding and being displayed like it was a play at the theatre, intensified my hate towards Kima, and everything that he stood for.

"Awww, look, your wifey is crMidnight Moon for you! How sweet!" Kima exclaimed sarcastically, cackling while he held and squeezed his face, and turning it to view my mother, who was now a bawling mess.

My sister, who was always filled with happiness and laughter, no matter the situation, now looked stricken with fear, her skin a ghastly shade of pale, and her eyes filled with terror. I hated this man with everything in me; I hated the way that he made not only my once happy family broken, but also destroyed the peace of our whole pack, just because of his obstinacy.

Finally coming to a stop, he stood in front of my father, the Alpha of the Midnight Moon pack, smirking evilly, making his green eyes look deadly.

"Before I finally send you to your creator, do you have any last words?" Kima said, clearly being ironic about his question.

Suddenly, before he could even answer, King of the Stormfang pack swung the Katana sword for the last time on my dad, this time totally ending him. He beheaded him. My father, Alpha Roy Lawson's head fell off his shoulders, as if it were an orange off the rack of a market woman.

"NO!" I screamed, finally feeling myself break into a million tiny pieces, and scatter all around me.

"...Father! NO! Please! Let me Go! FATHER!!!" I continued screaming at the top of my lungs, and sobbing like there were no tomorrow, while the soldiers tried their best to contain me, through their rough hold on my arms.

At the corner of my eye, I saw alpha Kima give them a sign to releas me, and almost instantly, I lunged forward, towards my now dead and decapitated father. Tears ran down my cheeks as I held the lifeless and cold head of my father, staring back at me with his lifeless grey eyes. Blood spewed all over me, staining my once White dress, with a deep crimson color.

As I sat down there on the floor, Alpha Kima had no idea on what was going through my mind, but I genuinely wished that he did. I swore on my very existence that I would get revenge from him, no matter what it cost me, and that was a promise.
