Chapter 1 Prologue

The chauffeur held the door open for Kieran as the limo pulled to a stop at the front of a palatial mansion in the Gables estate; a lavish neighborhood, it was a bigger party than he'd expected; It was one of his friends, Rico Benz's birthday party, and somehow he had to be here.

There were no paparazzi, relieved that there weren't, just photographers taking pictures out front, since the place swam of celebrities and well-known businessmen like him, he stepped out of the limo, flashing one of his charming smiles as usual for the camera as it flashes, and a moment later he was standing in a marble hallway with a grand staircase and an art collection worthy of the louver.

"Finally, he made it," who else had the cranky voice, if not Oscar Benz; Rico's brother, "The Phoenix rises... My man!" He said and they embraced each other as an elegant clad figured lady approached. Redhead with hazel eyes.

"mm, and you must be... Kieran Davis," she smiled as he took her stretched-out hand.

"Guilty as charged," he kissed her knuckles. "And you must be Colette... This one wouldn't shut up about you." He said smiling warmly at her.

"It's my pleasure to finally meet you in person Mr Davis, I've Heard a lot about you," she grinned with Oscar's arm around her waist

"Kieran please," he corrected with a charming smile.

His English accent was neat-Charming if she must say, and he was so god-damn attractive right now with his man-bun and the faded neat beards, it was alright to admire the man, he sure always had this breathtaking effect on women around him, so she's told... Luckily her partner had given her a heads-up on how charming he could be, so nothing came as a surprise.

"Kieran" she grinned, "You boys have a nice evening... I'll be over there," She said, kissed Oscar, and disappeared into the crowd.

"She's hot," Kieran said looking after her.

"And you shouldn't look," Kieran chuckled as he punched his arm.

"is Jackson here yet?" Kieran asked looking around.

"Last I heard, he wasn't available, he traveled, I guess," Oscar replied, "it's good to have you here, I'll go find Rico."

"Please do find him, I won't be staying long," he said after him, then went up the grand stairs taking a glass of champagne off the waiter's tray.

"Are you kidding me? Jack! this was supposed to be our weekend together. We've talked about this-no... no, don't hang up on me-" The phone beeped against her ear. "Argh!" she grumbled and tossed the phone towards the staircase, and it landed right in between Kieran's Black Gilliard Studded Italian Leather Loafers.

"Oh my God I am so sorry," she said as she took stock of his height. Well over six feet tall, his broad, muscular shoulders and powerful physique, all of which made her almost forget what she was so upset about. Their eyes lock for a moment there. She was sure she'd seen him somewhere on TV, and in magazines maybe, probably one of that poster children for some handsome male fashion. He wore a black, Camps de Luca haute couture fitted French suit, a white crisp shirt with few opened buttons showing off his perfect neck, and a bit of his muscular chest-his eyes were green, cupped with long lashes and he had thick brows. He oozed potent charm, with a masculinity so blatant it was positively sinful.

"Oh my-did it hit you?" she asked finally, breaking away from his gaze.

He smirked at the stunning brunette with huge grey eyes in a naughty way, and then picked up the phone from the rug floor, "No harm done darling... rough night?"

Her lips tightened and he caught the anguish in her eyes, "Just work." She lied, she wasn't about to let a stranger pry in her personal life.

He smiled and handed her the phone, "Here-work makes me smash things sometimes too, Well... habits I invent being the boss." She smiled, and he replied her smile with a smirk, he liked the look of her. The silk dress she wore showed off her sexy slightly thick figure and small waist, her skin was clear and shiny, and even her make-up was nothing too much.

What woman had touched him these recent years, Kieran Davis, the most eligible bachelor currently in Miami, heir to billions and billionaire in his own right, and all too familiar with why he could have his pick of beautiful women, which was fine with his sex Life. But he had never been touched deeply enough for any attachment beyond lust this last few years, that could lead to marriage or anything serious. All he cared about was satisfying his needs. And this woman in front of him right now caught his attention.

"I'm Kieran by the way," he said, with the thought of her naked body in his bed filling his mind.

"Kieran," she frowned, realizing who he was. "Kieran Davis... I'm Emily," she said with a warm smile and went down the stairs. He stood there watching her leave with a smirk, then decided to go back to the flight downstairs.

Emily sat at one of the empty tables by the pool reading a text from her boyfriend. They were supposed to have this weekend together and now he's going on a business trip. And the fact that he was in business with her father wasn't all that relaxing, she knew her father too well. Jack wanted to take her with him, and she would have loved to go, but unfortunately, she had to work.

Then a call came through on her phone from Jack, and he explained to her how he was going to take a while on his trip.

"Really!..." she said wide-eyed and pissed. "That's a long time... six months? Anyways just take care of yourself" She sighed and hung up the call.

"Six months?... What's happening then?" the curious voice asked from behind her as he walked to her. With a hand in his pocket, he pulled out a chair across from her to sit at the table. "May I?" she nodded tucking her hair behind her ear. "Is the world ending in six months?" He asked sarcastically

"Well, I hope so," she said and they both laughed, and she watched him set out two glasses and pour them champagne from the ice bucket. "it'll be a good way to escape all this craziness around."

Reading the puzzlement on her face, he could catch a glimpse of disappointment and anger. "Well, I guess that wouldn't be fair, 'cause I do love the world in this current state right now."

Emily grimaced a smile and sipped the champagne, then her phone rang. "Excuse me," she said and answered the call.

"Yes, Doctor Decker speaking," she said into the phone. "Alright, I'll be there in a few."

Kieran sat back watching how her lips moved as she spoke over the phone, then down her cleavage. He guessed coming back to Miami wasn't a bad idea after all.

"mm-mm," he cleared his throat, "so you're a doctor?" he asked after she got off the phone.

"Yes, I am," she replied, "I should take my leave... doctors don't get enough fun time in this current state of the world." She said opening her clutch to slip in her phone.

"Alright, Emily," he said and handed her his card. "we could continue this conversation somewhere that's not a birthday party, maybe a nice restaurant, what do you think?."

She smiled warmly "It was nice meeting you Kieran, I should run." She said and left in a hurry.

He smiled wryly as he watched her leave. Emily Decker...

He was dying to see her again.

Somewhere in Vegas, in a warehouse that same night, a man knelt on the ground with a sackcloth over his head in between two hefty men who held assault rifles, while a bald chubby guy stood in front of him pointing a pistol at him.

"Take off the hood," he said and one of the men took off the sack over his head.

"Wait-wait, please Marcos, you can't." The battered guy on his knees cried. "I promised Pope I'll deliver, I just need more time... please."

"Well, Pope has lost his patience." The gun clicked and he was about to pull the trigger when his phone suddenly rang. It was a call from Pope, he answered it quickly, "Yes sir." He said after a long listening then he hung up.

"I guess you are one lucky son of a bitch." Marcos spat missing his knee. "He said no more excuses, get it done once you're close enough... untie him." He said and they untied him, then Marcos knocked him out.

"Let us get out of here, he'll find his way."
