Taeyang is a talented boy, and he was born with the love of the Sword god. Therefore, recognized as the sword saint. Good things are short-lived, they say. Unfortunately, the love of the Sword god departs from him, and rested on another. This was unprecedented throughout history. No other sword saint has existed while the predecessor was alive. Why did the Sword god's love fall on someone else? Forsaken by the nation he used to serve, his family and his successor, he ran away from enemies who once trembled at the mention of his name. Hillview, an abandoned city of the kingdom that refused to be forgotten, became his home years after being forsaken. He's taken on a new identity as a hunter. Now, people know him as a coward because he refuses to fight unless they paid him. He spends his time drinking at taverns when he isn't on a mission. Ironically, people loved, respected, and feared him despite him being called a coward. It was a happy cycle of making and spending money. This, however, did not last long. When a space-void beast arrives above the city, Taeyang plunges at it to protect the city. He forced it to retreat, but while retreating into the void, the beast pulls him in. Taeyang crosses the void and ends up in the Caddel family's mansion. A noble family of the kingdom. He fell in love with Athena the moment he saw her. She was the only child of the Caddel family and a royal candidate. Reluctant to return to his city, he stays in the Caddel's mansion. He had a new goal in mind. And that was to be Athena's sword and protect her life. However, when his opponents are overwhelmingly strong, his goal becomes easier said than done. ... Chapter 1 Prologue

"Are you alright?"

A melodious voice causes Taeyang to open his eyes. His vision was hazy and unclear. His left hand grasped his head and his right hand clenched the dirt, desperate for any form of relief from the sharp head splitting and bone cracking pain.

A moment ago he heard someone yell. That caused his consciousness to return. When he realized he was falling, he urged his mana as best as he could. However, his mana wasn't flowing properly so he couldn't keep himself in the air. The throbbing pain from his wounds affected his control over his mana.

Honestly, he wanted to get up, find out where he was and confirm his safety. He needed to do that but he just couldn't get himself up.

"Are you alright?" The voice came again and he felt a hand touch his chest. Instantly, his eyes widened.

He thought he was hearing things the first time. His hazy vision and the throbbing pain from his wounds did not let him comprehend before. However, that touch did. He knew wasn't alone and knew he had to get up.

A lovely pair of aqua-green colored eyeballs greeted him. They sat perfectly in the eye sockets of a cute round faced girl. Her single braided aqua-green hair falls over her right shoulder. It was long, at least waist length. Her smooth skin compliments her eyes. And her lips, they looked lovely and soft. The crescent moon and stars in the dark sky could not overshadow her beautiful face.

Taeyang held his breath and blinked his eyes. This was something he couldn't believe. Never had he been captivated by a girl before. Nevertheless, he was breathlessly staring at the one before him. He swore his heart skipped a beat just now. Did the time stop moving? Because, this moment felt like forever to him. He couldn't even feel his pains anymore.

"My lady, step away from him please. We don't know if he is dangerous," a disembodied voice sounded, causing the time to flow again.

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé. Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now-billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn't mind. I'd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one? Wrong. One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That's when it hit me-he didn't love me. He didn't even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn't even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup. So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster-my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise. Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol. Enter him. Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I'd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes. It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised. But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life. And, as it turned out, the best decision I'd ever made. Because my one-night stand isn't just some random guy. He's richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with. And now, he's not letting me go.
