**Prologue**
The sky was tinged with orange. The ambiance of the evening was incredibly beautiful and eagerly awaited by many. However, the magnificent scene that many people revered wasn't the case for the two men from the Kim family, who were engulfed in distress.
On the rooftop of a building, two men stood gazing at the almost setting sun.
To the right was Daniel Kim, a man who felt disappointed by what had happened a few hours ago. The confession of his girlfriend, Chelsea Ardina, plunged him into a profound abyss of disappointment.
Standing beside him was David Kim, a man who harbored deep feelings for Chelsea. However, all his efforts over the past few months had come to naught. Waiting and waiting for good news. But the good news never arrived, and now two men were hurt because of a woman's actions.
Daniel remained silent for quite some time. He didn't know where to start the conversation with David. It wasn't David's fault, nor was it Chelsea's or even his own. What happened that night was everyone's fault.
If only he had tried to find Chelsea's address that night. The girl wouldn't have ended up sleeping in David's room. And David... perhaps he wouldn't have taken her honor away.
But what's done is done. It's all in the past now! Daniel's feelings for Chelsea were so sincere, but facing that reality was... heavy.
Daniel firmly rejected Chelsea's presence. Enough was enough! He had to end his relationship with her. There was no reason to hold on! Chelsea was no longer honest. Chelsea had slept with someone else! She wasn't the untouched girl he had imagined.
" Daniel," called David, snapping his older brother out of his reverie.
"Yes, what is it?"
"Something must have happened for us to stand here in silence for 30 minutes! I'm sorry, , I shouldn't have stayed quiet and let you find out everything just now."
David bowed his head, unable to meet his brother's gaze. He faintly saw Daniel's eyes reddening.
"Should we hate and fight each other just because of a woman?" Daniel asked, glancing briefly at his younger brother, then turning his gaze back to the darkening sky.
"Of course not, I'm sure Daniel wouldn't hate me just because of a woman. Daniel knows, we've been alone together all this time, facing Grandpa together, being sad together, happy together, and learning various things together!" David whispered with uncertainty as he expressed himself.
"Fine, I've decided to forget about Chelsea, and you should forget about her too! In a month from now, we'll meet here, and we should have forgotten about her!" Daniel asserted.
"Then what answer will Daniel give to Grandpa? Doesn't Grandpa really hope that Daniel and Chelsea will marry soon?" David cared about that.
"I don't know, Grandpa will have to try to accept that some desires can't be fulfilled. Besides, marriage isn't something we can prepare for today and do tomorrow. Marriage is a once-in-a-lifetime thing, David! And... I don't want to go through it with the wrong person."
"Fine, I won't accompany you to meet Grandpa. Daniel can talk to him alone then." One can imagine that Grandpa Kim would be furious upon learning that the wedding plans are off.
"Easy for you to say you won't accompany me and talk to Grandpa! If not, I'll just tell Grandpa that Chelsea cheated with you. You're dead, David! Do I have to punch you?" Daniel threatened with a joking tone.
"Okay, I'll accompany Daniel to meet and talk to Grandpa, but when?" Frankly, David wasn't ready.
"Now! Let's meet Grandpa now!" Daniel suggested. He wasn't someone who liked to procrastinate. Though scared, honestly, talking to Grandpa now was better. After all, whether tomorrow or the day after, they'd still have to talk to Mr. Kim.
"What do you want to say, Daniel?" David asked.
"Never mind, do you still trust your big brother?"
"Of course."
They both left the rooftop of the building. Their Kim Jewellery company entered the elevator. The building's transportation device took them down to the ground floor.
* * *
For two days and two nights, Chelsea had locked herself in her room.
All the sadness and suffocation within her heart made her unenthusiastic about leaving her room.
It was all her fault, really. Her own fault for not being honest from the start. If only she had followed Jessica and David's advice. Maybe things wouldn't be like this. Not as complicated as this! Not as sad and painful as this!
She didn't know day from night, as she always kept the curtains in her room closed. She would lie down and sometimes stand up. Yet tears would still well up and roll down her cheeks, even when she blinked her eyes open and shut.
As if a dream that was right in front of her had vanished in a matter of seconds.
Daniel and all her dreams of becoming the first grandchild's wife for Mr. Kim were gone without a trace.
Regret.
Disappointment.
Anger.
Hate.
All merged within her heart, causing tears to flow incessantly, wetting her cheeks.
If time could be turned back, Chelsea would have been honest with Daniel from the start. About everything!
There was no glimmer of hope within her heart and mind. All she knew was that she wanted to be alone. To disappear from the reality of life she had to face.
Knock.
Knock.
Knock.
"Chelsea, open the door?" Her mother's voice could be heard from behind the door.
No response from the girl.
"Chelsea, let's talk, dear. Mama promises not to get angry," the middle-aged woman cajoled. She was still standing outside her daughter's room.
Chelsea remained silent.
"Alright, Mama will stay here until you open the door!" Mrs. Helena insisted. She was deeply worried about her daughter.
Chelsea got up from her seat. She tied her hair haphazardly and then walked towards the door to open it.
Creak.
The door opened. Before her stood her mother, looking warmly into her eyes.
Without a word, Mrs. Helena opened her arms and immediately embraced Chelsea.
Chelsea's tears broke loose, and she sobbed in her mother's embrace.
"What can Mama and Papa do to help you, Chelsea?" Mrs. Helena whispered, gently stroking her daughter's head.
Take me away from here, Mom. Take me far away. To a place where I won't ever have to see Mr. Kim again. Where I won't have to see Daniel or David. I want to leave this place, Mom! I'd rather leave with this pain. I can't bear to stay here any longer," Chelsea whimpered amidst her sobs. Her frail body trembled as well.
"Mom and Dad will help you. Mom and Dad will always be here for you. Tomorrow, Mom will take you to a new place. A place where you won't encounter people you don't want to see."
Mrs. Helena tried to soothe her daughter's heart. Even though Chelsea wasn't her biological child, her love for Chelsea was just like the love for her own child.
"Is it true? Mom will make me leave from here?" Chelsea murmured, her tears still flowing.
"Yes, Chelsea," Mrs. Helena affirmed firmly.
