Chapter 1 Pilot

NATASHA'S POV:-

2 o'Clock in the morning, I jolted up on my bed as I felt my soul leaving my body for a moment. I gasped for air as my whole body was drenched with ice cold water. My ears started ringing with the laughter of my older sister and her wicked friends. My eyes widened as I watched her male friends looking at me. I quickly grabbed the scarf I had placed on the side of the bed and quickly covered my head.

I hopped off of the bed and went towards the door. "What the hell is wrong with you? Have you forgotten all the boundaries? Is everything a joke to you?" I yelled at my older sister Nadia. But as expected, she was just laughing at me shamelessly.

My life was nothing but a joke to her and even my family. I couldn't say for how long her wicked friends had been staring at me when I was not covered the way I was supposed to be. The mere thought made me sick. Tears were forming at the corner of my eyes but I fought them as always. I couldn't show anyone that I was weak in any way.

"Oh, come on, Nat! Stop being so dramatic. It was just a prank. Just get over it." Nadia replied carelessly while waving her hand in front of my eyes. It angered me more but I just couldn't do anything at all. She was the favorite one in the family and I was not even allowed to raise a question against her over my boundaries.

"Crossing my boundaries and assaulting my beliefs is a joke to you. You brought unknown men to my bedroom. And only God knows for how long they had been staring at me." I yelled at her again. Hearing me scream like that, Nadia's friends fled almost instantly. They were well aware of the designation I was just promoted to.

"You scared my friends away. What is your problem?" Nadia yelled at me as soon as she saw her friends leaving.

"What is happening here?" I turned my head as I heard my fiance asking me a question.

"She brought her friends home, she brought them to my room when I was asleep and bareheaded. And she drenched me into ice water." I told everything to Ali, my fiance. He turned his gaze towards Nadia.

The soft gaze he had on me, turned into an angry glare the moment his eyes turned toward Nadia. I saw Nadia gulping hard as she saw Ali standing in front of me. "You assaulted her boundaries again?" Ali asked Nadia angrily and she took a step away from us.

"I will tell daddy that you two were together again at night." Nadia yelled at us as she walked away.

"Bitch!" Ali growled angrily and I patted his shoulder to calm him down.

"You know how she is. Don't get all worked up just for her." I whispered as I was walking back into my bedroom.

I was about to close my bedroom door when Ali pushed his way inside and locked the room. He placed his hand on my chest and slammed me against the door. I gasped loudly as he had me trapped between his tall figure and the door. He had both of his hands on either side of me, so I wouldn't escape. "Look at me!" He growled at me when I didn't look at him for a good minute.

I raised my gaze and as soon as my eyes met his big brown eyes, my heart skipped a beat. He was too close for me not to have sinister thoughts that the demons put in my head. I turned my head to the side so I wouldn't have to look in his eyes or his face anymore. "I thought I told you to lock your door when you sleep." Ali leaned closer and whispered softly. I felt his hot breaths fanning on my cheek.

"And you think I didn't lock it?" I asked him angrily as I heard suspicion in his voice.

"Calm down, Natasha. You know I didn't mean it in the wrong way." Ali spoke as he tried to get a hold on my chin but I slapped his hand away.

"Really? You didn't mean it in the wrong way? Like you didn't mean it wrong way the day of the bank hostage situation? You heard everything on the news yet you asked me where I had been the moment I came back home." I asked him angrily while I was trying to push him away from me.

He growled as he heard me asking him the same question again. He wrapped one of his arms around my waist and pulled me closer against his chest. I held my breath and turned my face away again. "I apologized for that day and my comments way too many times. It's not fair that you keep on bringing it up." Ali spoke in a low tone while staring into my eyes.

I sighed as I knew he was right. Besides, he was the only person in my life who cared about me. My family, well, they would be happy if I died. And my father would celebrate the day as if it was Eid the day I would die.

"Go back to sleep. And lock the door. We will talk in the morning." He whispered as he placed a soft kiss on my forehead. I nodded my head with a small smile on my face. Once he stepped out, I locked the door again and went back to bed.

-------------------

In the morning, I was staring at my reflection in the mirror. The shield I was given from the department and my name on my uniform made me feel proud of all the hardships and hard work I went through. "Today is the day!" I whispered to myself while staring into my eyes while my heart was beating erratically inside my chest.

-------------

Ali dropped me in front of the police station that I was promoted to. I was about to open the door to get out. But Ali grabbed my hand and stopped me. "Do you think you will be able to give me a kiss before starting this new job?" He asked me, making an innocent face.

I bit my lower lip as a mischievous idea popped into my head. "You want a kiss?" I asked and he nodded his head instantly.

"Then close your eyes and lean forward." I added, fighting that mischievous grin that was about to appear on my face. I was not sure if he would do as I told him. But I was surprised when he closed his eyes and leaned forward.

I leaned over and knowingly, I tilted my head and froze. My breaths were fanning on his lips. I heard him growling under his chest. Before he could open his eyes, I pecked his cheek and rushed out of the car, leaving him in a state of shock. I watched as it took him a while to understand what I did. I saw a small smile on his face as he started the car and drove off.

He showed me his middle finger before he drove away. Smiling shyly, I went into the police station. "Ah! Here she comes! Hero of the city. I bet the victims will be hanging your posters at their homes." I heard that familiar narcissistic voice again, taunting me and I rolled my eyes in annoyance.

"Leon, get a better hobby. Don't you have work to do?" I asked him in annoyance as I made my way towards the office of the captain. Leon didn't say anything. I was relieved.

I knocked at the door and I heard my captain giving me permission to enter. I stepped into his office and saluted him. "Great timing, Detective Malik. As I was told, you are right on time." Captain Wilson said as he gestured to me to sit down.

"Thank you, captain. I assure you that it's not just for the first day. I will always be punctual and regular." I added, making him chuckle.

"I have heard! Is there anything I need to be aware of? Anything forbidden aside from everything I know about your religion?" Captain Wilson asked me and I just knew what I was supposed to say.

"Yes, Captain. I want to stay as far away from the politicians as possible. I don't want any trouble with them." I replied to him honestly and the colors of his face changed all of the sudden.

"Oh, I..."

The sudden knock on the door didn't let Captain complete his sentence. The door opened and a tall man stepped inside of the Captain's office. For some reason, he looked oddly familiar. Yet I couldn't put a finger on where I might have seen him. "So, Captain Wilson! I assume you have talked to detective Malik here and explained to her about the first assignment she is gonna get."
