Chapter 1 Running from saftey

Since Rose was a little, females had always made fun of her long black hair, and the boys would crush on her because of her bright green eyes. The children either loathed or obsessed over her. Some kids even teased her for having older adoptive parents. By 3d grade, Rose's life was so chaotic from all the other children and the problems that they made for her, that her adoptive parents decided to home school her in their countryside cabin home. One day when Rose was 18, she was sitting out by the beautiful lake outside of her home dangling her feet in the water all gloomy.

'I'm so sick abd tired of never being allowed to home. I only have one friend, and have graduated school. I should be allowed to leave now,' Rose thought as she dangled her legs back and forth in the water.

'Come on in, it's time for your birthday cake!' Shouted out Rose's adoptive mom Maggie. Rose got up and ran to the house, with her long hair flowing through the fresh fall air. Once she reached the house and made a wish on her pink birthday cake, she told Maggie " I'm 18 now, please let me go to town, I'll wear a Hoodie so people don't see my face." Maggie picked up a slice of cake and put it on a plate in front of Rose with concern on her face. She spoke, " Sweetie the world has changed outside. The men will flag you down a dark ally and force you to show them your face or worse. If my hubby didn't die last year he would say the same." Rose was sad so she replied "I just won't go down a dark alley, I'll carry a knife and stay in public. I miss dad too but he would want me to be happy!" Maggie threw her cake knife in the kitchen sink. "That's enough!" Maggie yelled, "He would want you alive not laying in a ditch some where! " Maggie leaned against the kitchen sink and stroked the Grey hair out of her face. Rose stood up and started crying. "I will live but not locked up! Not anymore!" Rose stormed out of the house as fast as she could and ran down the dirt pathway towards the bridge that leading to town as fast as she could. She had calicus on the bottom of her feet from walking barefoot all the time, so the rocks under her feet didn't hurt that much. When she got to the big metal Bridge she sat in the middle of it to take a deep breath or too, she was short of breath. When she finally caught her breath, she looked up and saw four figures at the end of the bridge that looked like boys. Rose started to panic. They were coming right towards her.
