Chapter 1 The Outbreak Begins

The streets of the city were bustling with life on an ordinary summer morning. People hurriedly made their way to work, children laughed and played in the parks, and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air. But unbeknownst to them, an invisible threat was silently spreading through the unsuspecting crowds.

It started with a few isolated cases-reports of people falling ill with a mysterious flu-like virus. At first, the symptoms were mild, with fever and cough being the most common complaints. However, as the days passed, the situation quickly escalated into something far more sinister.

The news channels began reporting an alarming increase in the number of cases. The virus was spreading rapidly, infecting individuals at an alarming rate. Hospitals were inundated with patients, struggling to cope with the sudden influx. Medical professionals were baffled by the nature of the virus, its quick transmission, and the severity of the symptoms.

Fear gripped the hearts of the people as they witnessed the chaos unfolding before their eyes. Supermarkets were ransacked as panicked individuals stockpiled supplies, unsure of how long they would need to stay indoors. The streets became a chaotic mess of honking horns, screeching tires, and people desperately trying to escape the city.

In the midst of the chaos, a news report flashed on the television screens. The anchor's voice trembled with a mixture of shock and disbelief as he recounted the first encounter with what could only be described as a zombie. The footage showed a creature with vacant eyes, stumbling aimlessly and displaying an insatiable hunger for human flesh. It was a scene straight out of a horror movie, but this time, it was terrifyingly real.

The eyewitnesses who survived the encounter recounted their stories with trembling voices. The disbelief was palpable in their accounts, as they struggled to comprehend the unimaginable-a world where the dead walked among the living.

The revelation sent shockwaves throughout the population, intensifying the panic that had already taken hold. It seemed like the stuff of nightmares, a scenario that belonged in the realm of fiction, not reality. But there was no denying the truth. The dead were rising, and the living were facing an apocalypse like nothing they had ever seen before.

Amidst the confusion and disbelief, some still clung to hope. They desperately searched for explanations, hoping that there was a logical and scientific solution to the nightmare they found themselves in. But as the days turned into weeks and the weeks turned into months, hope dwindled, replaced by a grim acceptance of their new reality.

The world had changed forever. The outbreak had begun, and humanity was facing its darkest hour. The streets once filled with life and laughter were now silent, haunted by the shadows of the walking dead. Survival became the only goal, and the fight for humanity's future would soon rest in the hands of a brave few-the Apocalypse Warriors.

As the first chapter came to a close, the world held its breath, knowing that the true test of humanity was just beginning. Would they succumb to fear and despair, or would they rise above the horrors that surrounded them? Only time would tell.

"You're a creepy bastard." His eyes smolder me and his answering grin is nothing short of beautiful. Deadly. "Yet you hunger for me. Tell me, this appetite of yours, does it always tend toward 'creepy bastards'?" **** Widower and ex-boss to the Mafia, Zefiro Della Rocca, has an unhealthy fixation on the woman nextdoor. It began as a coincidence, growing into mere curiosity, and soon, it was an itch he couldn't ignore, like a quick fix of crack for an addict. He didn't know her name, but he knew every inch of her skin, how it flushed when she climaxed, her favourite novel and that every night she contemplated suicide. He didn't want to care, despising his rapt fascination of the woman. She was in love with her abusive husband. She was married, bound by a contract to the Bratva's hitman. She was off-limits. But when Zefiro wanted something, it was with an intensity that bordered on madness. He obsessed, possessed, owned. There'd be bloodshed if he touched her, but the sight of blood always did fascinate him. * When Susanna flees from her husband, she stumbles right into the arms of her devilishly handsome neighbour with a brooding glare. He couldn't stand her, but she needed him, if she was ever going to escape her husband who now wanted her dead. Better the devil you know than the angel you don't. She should have recalled that before hopping into Zefiro's car and letting him whisk her away to Italy. Maybe then, she wouldn't have started an affair with him. He was the only man who touched her right, and the crazy man took no small pains in ensuring he would be the last.
