Chapter 1 The Bite

Alex had never been one for parties. He was content to spend his evenings at home, playing video games or reading. But when his best friend convinced him to come to a house party one Friday night, he reluctantly agreed. The party was in full swing when Alex arrived. The music was loud, the drinks were flowing, and the air was thick with the scent of sweat and alcohol. Alex felt out of place amid the throngs of people, but he tried to make the best of it. That's when he saw her. She was standing in the corner, watching the partygoers with a detached air.

Her long black hair cascaded down her back, and her skin was pale as moonlight. She was the most beautiful woman Alex had ever seen. Before he knew what he was doing, he found himself walking over to her. "Hi," he said, feeling awkward. She turned to him, and he was struck by the intensity of her gaze. "Hello," she said, her voice low and husky. They chatted for a few minutes, and Alex found himself drawn to her. He couldn't quite put his finger on what it was about her that was so captivating, but he knew he wanted to spend more time with her. That's when she leaned in and whispered in his ear. "Do you want to get out of here?" Alex's heart raced as he nodded. They slipped out of the party and into the cool night air. They walked for a while, talking and laughing. The woman told Alex that her name was Ava, and that she was new to town. She was mysterious and alluring, and Alex couldn't help but be drawn to her. As they turned down a deserted alleyway, Ava suddenly stopped and turned to him. "There's something I need to tell you," she said. Before Alex could respond, Ava leaned in and sank her teeth into his neck. He felt a sharp pain, followed by a rush of pleasure unlike anything he'd ever experienced. As the world went black, Alex knew that his life would never be the same.

I woke up in a dark alley, disoriented and confused. My head was pounding and my body felt heavy, as if I had been drugged. I tried to stand up, but my legs wouldn't cooperate. I stumbled and fell to the ground, scraping my knees and palms. As I tried to catch my breath, I noticed a sharp pain in my neck. I reached back and felt a small puncture wound. I panicked and tried to scream, but my voice was hoarse and weak. I realized that I had been bitten by someone or something. I looked around and saw that I was surrounded by trash cans and dumpsters. The smell was overwhelming and made me feel nauseous. I tried to remember how I got there, but my memory was hazy and fragmented. As I lay there, helpless and vulnerable, I heard a faint whisper in my ear. It was a woman's voice, soft and seductive. She said, "Don't be afraid. You're one of us now." And with that, everything went dark.

"Carroll Brown is dead! But you have to marry him in your sister's name." My mother said to me in a cold tone. My sister was engaged to the hottest billionaire. It should have been a perfect marriage. Unexpectedly, Carroll was dead in an accident. My sister didn't want to become a widow, so she forced me to marry her dead fiance. And I had no right to refuse her. Actually, I was the biological daughter of the Smith family. My sister was an adoptive one. My sister and I had been swapped at the hospital when we were just born. My parents had already had a deep relationship with her. So they chose to sacrifice me. On the wedding day, I was taken to the mourning hall. "Ma'am, please keep Master company and let him feel warm." The housekeeper said with a cold expression. I couldn't help but look up at the portrait above the coffin, and my heart skipped a beat at this glance. The man in the portrait was more handsome than the superstars in Hollywood. Carroll Brown? My dead husband? Wow, he was really handsome! I didn't know how long had passed when my stomach began to rebel. After one glance at the coffin, I swallowed my saliva and then begged with my fingers crossed. "Mr. Carroll, I'm starving! May I eat your pastries? You don't mind, do you?" "I do." "Ah!" Scared, I broke out in a cold sweat. My legs went limp, and I fell to the ground. I shouted, "Ghost!" Carroll curled his lips, leaned over, and touched the black coffin. "Mr. Carroll has risen from the dead. What do you think of this headline tomorrow?"
