Chapter 1 How it all beginned

It all started the day before her 17th birthday. She had gone to visit her friend and then she saw him. He was definitely her spec. Tall, skinny, was on dreads and he's light skinned. Everything she loves and cherishes in a guy. She caught him staring at her, she assumed he was looking at something else till he said to her "you're really pretty and I'll like to know your name". She froze...she literally didn't have words in her mouth anymore. After a few seconds, she told him her name. My name is Rose she said. He smiled at her and said you're as pretty as the flower rose, she blushed.

She asked him, what's his name too and he said his name was Michael. He shook her hand and said nice to meet you Rose. He asked for her phone number and she immediately gave it to him. He told her he'll keep on touch with her and he left saying he had a place to go to. The friend she had gone to see suddenly started laughing at her, he asked her why she was blushing so much and Rose told him she definitely has a crush on Michael. She called it crush at first sight. She hung out with her friend, Utee. Utee took her to a game center and they played games, he also took her to a restaurant where they ate and she finally went home. She greeted her mom and her mom asked her if she had a nice day and she said yes, she had alot of fun. Her mom saw her smile while saying she had a nice day, she suspected something was fishy and she asked her what else did you do today Rose, Rose smiles at her mom and told her of the guy she met, she didn't tell her mom his name though. She only described him to her mom and her mom told her she had only met him today so why the rush, "Mom, I'm definitely gonna marry him" was her reply to her mom. Her mom just smiled her and she went to the kitchen, made food for herself and returned to her room.

My world revolved around Jax Harding, my older brother's captivating rockstar friend. From sixteen, I adored him; at eighteen, I clung to his casual promise: "When you're 22, maybe I'll settle down." That offhand comment became my life's beacon, guiding every choice, meticulously planning my twenty-second birthday as our destiny. But on that pivotal day in a Lower East Side bar, clutching my gift, my dream exploded. I overheard Jax' s cold voice: "Can't believe Savvy's showing up. She' s still hung up on that stupid thing I said." Then the crushing plot: "We' re gonna tell Savvy I' m engaged to Chloe, maybe even hint she' s pregnant. That should scare her off." My gift, my future, slipped from my numb fingers. I fled into the cold New York rain, devastated by betrayal. Later, Jax introduced Chloe as his "fiancée" while his bandmates mocked my "adorable crush"-he did nothing. As an art installation fell, he saved Chloe, abandoning me to severe injury. In the hospital, he came for "damage control," then shockingly shoved me into a fountain, leaving me to bleed, calling me a "jealous psycho." How could the man I loved, who once saved me, become this cruel and publicly humiliate me? Why was my devotion seen as an annoyance to be brutally extinguished with lies and assault? Was I just a problem, my loyalty met with hatred? I would not be his victim. Injured and betrayed, I made an unshakeable vow: I was done. I blocked his number and everyone connected to him, severing ties. This was not an escape; this was my rebirth. Florence awaited, a new life on my terms, unburdened by broken promises.
