Chapter 1 Doing Away with old ones

Esther is a cool seventeen-year-old girl who just got admitted to Kingdom High. Her mom Mrs Alex is a single mother who has been taking care of her since her dad left them both.

Together with her mom was her aunty Miss Silver who would always come through for her when she needed anything.

Mrs Alex's dream was to attend the famous Kingdom High as it is the most prominent school in the country. Esther too had the same goal but since her dad left them at age 5, her dreams of Kingdom High were strewn.

Esther could not understand what was happening with her family but her mom kept assuring her dad would come back one day.

Esther grew up alone with her mom from childhood still believing her dad would come back. It took almost forever and Esther started losing hope already as he never called nor answered calls after a while.

Esther and her mom together with her sister had to surfer though her father had a lot of money but never wanted to see any of them ever.

This incident made Esther start writing whenever she felt depressed or less important. She hated her father for abandoning them and making them suffer telling her mom "One day, dad will look for us and we will not give him any attention, I will make you proud, taking you to wherever you want."

Her mom was stirred by her speech and cried in agony and soreness. She still had it in mind to make her daughter attend the best institution and make her proud.

Mrs Alex had to go to the Montage bank to get a loan to enrol Esthert in the well-known Kingdom High. She had this dream as a child but her mom or dad could not help her attend the institution and she wanted to create an incredible difference.

Mrs Alex stringently told her sister Miss Silver not to mention this to her daughter. Though Miss Silver would never buy the idea of her getting a loan she had no choice since it had to do with Esther's happiness.

However, Esther hearing that her mom was enrolling her in Kingdom High though she was to start senior year 2 was shocked.

Her mom did not earn that much to enrol her in such an expensive institution. "How did you make this amount Mom?" Esther inquired but her mom lied;

"My boss decided to give me money to enrol you in a better school knowing about your grades. He complimented that your grades were the best he has ever seen and that this kind of intelligence should be encouraged."

Her lies got Esther being that Esther was indeed intelligent and would outstand the whole school. She had never gotten any competitor over in the government school where she attended.

Esther although happy was also scared of starting Kingdom High as the institution had much competition.

She wondered to herself if she will for real make her mom proud of her. Her mixed feelings made her pick up her pen. She could remember people who she would be missing in her old institution like Luke (Her Ex).

Luke was a nice guy but had his flaws. He dated both Esther and her best friend behind her but when Esther knew about that, she did away with the relationship.

"Nothing hurts anymore, not even the worst things I know so. Dad left when I wanted him the most and Mom is lonely.

I have learned to keep my heart locked and love less; I do not give more attention to those who are not worth it. I guess I am now a pro in doing away with the old ones" she wrote.

Esther closed her diary, put it back in her bag, and hung it on the hanger at the echo of footsteps approaching her room.

She pulled the door open and surprisingly, she saw Silver. She glared away with a sigh. "What's that for?" Silver gasped.

"I thought it was Mom approaching so I quickly hid my diary, I did not want her seeing its contents," Esther replied as Silver sighed.

"Hope you are not writing about a boy this time? I can remember the last time I read your diary, I could see Luke all over it," Silver teased.

"Stop it Silver, you are getting annoying, I had no feeling for Luke anyway," She groaned.

"Ya, that's what everyone says after a breakup, I never did have any feelings for my ex too," Silver whispered as they both laughed.

"Seriously, I am so not like you aunt, I did love Luke but he was just too much and I could not take his attitude anymore so I had to call it off.

Can you believe Luke was in a relationship with me and my best friend and she kept it from me?" Esther muttered.

Silver stuttered at what she said and could not help herself but laughed. Esther felt a little annoyed by her laughter but it was worth it.

"I'm sorry, I did not mean to laugh but he is a pro in breaking up friendships, he just knew your friend liked him so he decided to mess with the both of you.

Just know what you do in school, no matter the pressure, do not have sex with anyone as your mom would say," Silver reminded.

"Is that the help you should be rendering me? I am going back to school today but my bags are yet unpacked and you should know it will take hours to arrive at Kingdom High," Esther replied.

"You better keep your mom's word, know she has gone through a lot to get you into Kingdom High," She added.

"What do you mean by a lot?" Esther asked.

Silver's eyes widened at the same time as she knew she messed up but had to lie to hide this. Esther would never accept to resume Kingdom High if she knew her mom had to get a loan to make her happy.

"She is working hard dear, what else are you thinking?" Silver replied walking to Esther's wardrobe and helping her pack her bags.

Esther stood staring at her, she reacted strangely and she would do this anytime she lied. Though Esther could not figure out what exactly she was hiding, she just had to keep it cool.

"Do you even have any clothes at all?" Silver gasped at seeing nothing but worn-out clothes in her bags.

"What were you expecting aunt?" Esther replied as Silver shook her head in dismay, walking out of her room to get her some clothes from her box.

Esther sat on her bed smiling to herself. Imagine entering the institution and how happy everyone would be to see her.

A new student in senior year 2! She imagines having been approached by all the boys in the institution. Indeed Esther is a beautiful girl and has never been unlucky not to have many approaches anywhere she goes.

She only turns most of them down or messes with their feelings and afterwards documents them in her diary.

Luke is the very first person she took seriously and he messed with her heart. She could not believe he could date anyone other than her.

Though she does want her heart to believe that she is done with him her feelings for him remain.

Esther opens her eyes to a knock on the door and for sure, it was her mom. She is the only one who knocks on the door.

"Come in," she responded as her mom walked in.

"How is my angel feeling?" She asked at the sight of her daughter.

Esther rushes to her hugging her tight. "I feel really happy to have you as my mom, even if you do not have a lot but you made it possible for me to go to Kingdom High, you are better than most parents who do have," Esther praised her mom.

Mrs Alex smiled, flattered by the words from her mouth.

"Stop the flatter hun, you know I will do anything for you my dear, but I also want you to make me proud," Mrs Alex responded, letting loose of her grip.

"My happiness is to see you make me proud. Remember dear, you promised me that you would make me proud and would one day make Dad feel it was a mistake to let us go.

I have gone to all lengths to make this possible to make sure you go to the best school in the city. You will be far from home and the only thing I want you to know is that you should not mingle too much.

It will not help you concentrate. I want the best for you and still hope you make me happy one day. Remember my song; do not have sex in school as that is not your reason for going there.

Focus and make me proud as these boys will only have sex with you and go out there, telling it to people and this is not what you want," Mrs Alex instructed.

"I know Mom, no sex, no boys, studies, yes! I'll keep to these entire rules Mom," Esther responded hugging her.

"Awn, an emotional scene without me!" Silver exclaimed as they all laughed. "Here, those are some of my clothes and trust me; I haven't worn some of them so you could take them with you!" Silver added, handing over a fine set of outfits to Esther.

"Thank you very much aunt, you both are the best," Esther complemented, join-hugging them both.
